This is the 2010 Ontario Winter Bible School. Our speaker for this session is Brother Elaine Ritmeyer from Cardiff, Wales. His theme this week is The Power of Bible Places and their Lessons for us. This is his sixth class and the subject for this class is a place called Golgotha. Our reading was taken from John 19. Good morning, Braden and sisters and young people. Yesterday we followed Jesus from Jerusalem when he went to that city of Ephraim where he meditated on the life of Gideon. And then he went to Beita Bara.

  2. 0:56

And then we followed his path from Bethelbarra up to Bethany, where he stayed in the House of his friends Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and their father Simon de Lape.

  3. 1:10

The following day he would have left that house, and he went up to Jerusalem and he passed by Bethfage. Bethany means the House of good figs. Bethfage means the House of unripe figs. And there he took that donkey away, which was a fulfillment of another ancient promise. But you won’t have time to go into that. And then when he came to the top of the Mount of Olives, which you can see right here, there’s a beautiful mount, especially in twilight.

  4. 1:40

He was now standing here on the top of the Mount of Olives. And here is the path going down if you go to Luke chapter 17.

  5. 1:53

Sorry, Luke 19. And there we read the verse 29 came to pass with us come night to Bethfate and Bethany to mount called Olives. He sent two of his disciples saying, Go into the village over against you in the which you are entering you shall find a cold tie. Never men yet said lose. Him and bring him hid him.

  6. 2:29

If any men ask you, why do you lose him? Thus shall he say unto him, Because the Lord of him has need, says it in the Greek. And they that were sent went their way, and found, even as he said unto them, And as they were loosen the cold, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loosen the cold? And he said The Lord of him has.

  7. 2:47

Need. And they brought him to Jesus, and they cast their garments upon the cold, and they set Jesus down, and as he went they spread their clothes in the way. And when he was come nigh, even now at the descend of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen. Well, the fact Brandon sisters, that they put on the their clothes on their donkey and on the road reminds us very much as when Elisha was sent to anoint Jihu king of Israel, because they also they heard and they took their clothes and spread their clothes under him and said that blue trumpet said Jihu is king by putting your garments on on a donkey or on the road and underneath the person, the Lord Jesus Christ or you in the past. It’s an honour which you give to kings. And it’s obvious that the people wanted to proclaim him king to get rid of the Roman domination and to be a free people one again once again.

  8. 3:54

And that was the accusation written on his cross. This is Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews. But we see how fickle people are. Bradley sisters, they were praising God and the next two days later they said crucify him. But we are here at the very top of the descent when Jesus went down to Jerusalem and we want to stay there for a little bit because the associations of the Mount of Olives and that particular spot where he stood, which is directly opposite the temple. When you there we try to enter into the mind of Jesus. What would have gone through his mind knowing the Scriptures, what should go through our mind by my sisters when we stand there.

  9. 4:46

But when you’re on the top of the Mount of Olives, that is what you see. You see the Temple Mount, the beautiful Golden Temple where which stood there and Herod stood here is the the Golden Gate. I remember when the disciples sat on the Mount of Olives in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 said Master behold the buildings of the temple and he said not one stone shall be left upon another. But they saw something like this. There was a golden faced temple which at the height of our 20 Storey high building.

  10. 5:19

These were the buildings of the temple that were built around it with the Antonia Fortes on the northwest of the corridors are going all around here in the Royal Stova. And here’s the Shushan Gate, the eastern gate, where’s the lower gate, the myth gate, and the path going down into the Kidron Valley, and that was the temple. They would have seen something similar at least when they looked over the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. But Jesus mind bread, my sisters would have gone over the whole history, I believe of the city of Jerusalem and where does it start?

  11. 6:00

It started with Genesis chapter 14. Then after Abram had we spoke about this earlier, brought back Lot Melchizedek, the king of Salem, the king of righteousness and the king of peace brought forth bread and wine, and he was the priest of the Most High God. And these would have known from Psalmont and 10 that thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek because he instituted the bread and the wine which we celebrate every Sunday.

  12. 6:29

But it was first of all instituted by Melchizedek. And this is a model which we built in in the students in heritage. College and you can. See Aben coming back here with Lot, and Melchizedek coming down the mountainside, and the King of Sodom. And a wonderful meeting took place right beside the Gaion Spring, the spring of living waters, which reflect the Word of God. Pregnant sisters and there must have been an amazing event as a was passing by through the Quidong valley just below the top of Mount Moriah he wonder if he knew what was going to happen next.

  13. 7:08

If you go to Genesis chapter 14 and there’s something amazing there, I believe because after now Kiszekin verse 18 brought forth bread and wine and he was the priest of the Most High Ale and he blessed Abraham immediately after that event we have Genesis 15. Have you ever connected the two things? It says after these things, But I just mean to say 10 years later, it could have been immediately after this word. After these things occurs many times, especially in the book of Genesis.

  14. 7:54

I mean, we’ve looked at one event and now we’re going to look at the next event. Where would Abram F stay now? The city of Melchizedek was too small to accommodate all his army. He would probably have encamped on Mount Moriah. And then in chapter 15 God appears to him and he says, fear not Abram in the first one.

  15. 8:17

I’m thy shield and I exceeding great reward. And Abel said, Lord Yahweh, what will thou give me, seeing I go childless and the steward of my house is this early age of Damascus. He said, behold to me thou was given no seed, and the one born in my house is mine heir. He was asking for a son and I believe when says he was on Mount Moriah when he asked for that for that that request and then in verse 5 God brought him forth abroad in if the camp of Abel was somebody here he may have.

  16. 8:47

Walked to the top of the Mount Moriah, and God brought him forth abroad. And he said, Look now towards heaven, and tell the stars if they’ll be able to number them. And he said unto him, So shall thy see be. And he believed in Yahweh, and he counted him to him for righteousness. But I believe when this is that chapters connected to chapter 14, it would make great sense that the promise of a son has been given on Mount Moriah itself. Anyway, at least it is something for you to think about because we aren’t told exactly where it was. And the next chapter 16, we are back in Sarah’s tent. And so a few chapters later, when the sisters or after these promises of a son have been given, and that great sacrifice took place where he defied all those animals because all the Abrah built and he built an altar there later on. And it became the altar which David built. It became the altar of all the temples when the sisters, all these associations in there are there. But now let’s go to Chapter 22 because it came to pass after these things.

  17. 10:00

When Isaac was born, and God had, I believe, rejuvenated Abram and Sarah, so that they could bring forth the son. And now comes chapter 27. After the things that Alabin he tempted, he tried Abram and said unto him, Abram. He said, Behold, here am I, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get it into the land of Moriah, and offer him therefore a burnt offering upon one of the mountains. Which I will tell thee of the name Moriya bread Mrsus means the teaching of Yah.

  18. 10:40

And we know that Avon believed God that he was able to raise him up from the dead as we had told him. Hebrews Chapter 11. That teaching on the mount of teaching Mount Moriah is the resurrection of the dead.

  19. 10:57

You remember the word Shechem means getting up early and bearing the burden? Well, Abram rose up early. He got on his shoulder and he pushed himself up and he put the wood on the shoulder of Isaac, also a burden bearer. They sell at his. Ass took two of his young men with him, and Isaac’s son claved the wood for a burnt offering, and rose up and bent on the place of which Alwin had told him. It must have been a very difficult journey, very hard to hear, but he got up.

  20. 11:23

Early in the morning. And he did it asking no questions. Jacob called, Joseph said. Look very bread and I he got up and he went. And then we read in verse 4. Then on the third day, Abram lifted up his eyes and he saw the place afar off. But you go to that place where the sisters, here it is, this coming from the South is the 1st place where you can see Mount Moriah in the Temple Mount, see Jerusalem in the Temple Mount.

  21. 11:54

And here the city of Narcisse, that is, is in a bowl. They’re called the sacred bull. And the mountains round about it, you can’t see it from fire. You’re almost on top of it. And suddenly that it’s all in front of you. So to say he saw the place afar off from 10:10 or 20 miles further away doesn’t make any sense.

  22. 12:15

Isn’t 1 kilometre to go and you’re there. That’s a very special word, the word afar off, because David used the very same word, but he translated it very differently. When Abram lifted his eye, he saw the place afar off, that word afar off as merkhak in Hebrew. And God gave those wonderful promises to David in the book of Chronic on Samuel says, thou has spoken also to thy servants house for a great while to come. It’s the same word in Hebrew by the sisters, Merkhak. So it is not the physical distance that was very far off, but God made Abraham look into the future to that greatest sacrifice that was also brought on Mount Moriah. Because here we see a mosaic floor portraying the events of Genesis 22.

  23. 13:12

Here we see Abraham, he’s his name, Afraham lifting up Itzhak. There is Isaac, I think. Isaac was a bit bigger than to be able to pick him up his one hand he carried all the root for the burnt of him himself. And then we see the van, which is thorns in what is a thorn Bush, and the little black cloud hides the Angel. You can’t portray the Angel.

  24. 13:35

The hand represents the Angel, the Angel. Saying Alti Slach, don’t send your hand to slay Isaac. And he had the two servants waiting with the donkeys. And the great thing is, if you look at verse 5 of Genesis 22 by the sisters, it’s much stronger in the Hebrew. Abram said it to his young men. Abide he here with the S and I, and the lad will. Go Yonder and worship and we will come again to you. He’s speaking in the plural.

  25. 14:08

We didn’t say I am coming back now we. Isaac and myself will come back to you. His faith in the resurrection is expressed here because God has said that his siege on inherit the land forever. Well, how can he give a promise like that? If he was going to kill Isaac? I would believe that even if God was going, he had to kill. God would have to raise him from the dead to fulfil those promises.

  26. 14:34

Think of the ram, brethren, sisters, that ram that was called in a thicket by his horns, that was a thorn Bush. That ram, by getting his head in the thorn Bush, he got thorns in his head and Jesus stood before those Roman souls, They put a crown of thorns on his head. It’s a fulfilment of the type of that ram that was thick at that thorn Bush is called.

  27. 15:05

Sabah. It’s a thorny Bush and he can see a ram which is horned in the thicket. When he says Eli Eli lama sabakhtani, it doesn’t mean in the Hebrew. Why is thou forsaken me? Because that will be Al Zaftani Sabak. Is that thicket? It means the horns of the ramble court. It represents humanity, and Christ never felt the humanity of Himself greater than when He was hanging on that tree. God never forsook his son when he says Ali, Ali Lama SA Bahtani.

  28. 15:43

He doesn’t. He doesn’t use the word Yahweh. He doesn’t use the word elohim. He used the word ail. Ali is my ail and ail means power. He said actually my power, my power. Why has thou thicketed me? Because I said thorn Bush neutralized the power of the ram, so the power which Jesus had, which was given to him when he was baptised in Bethelbarra, when the Holy Spirit came upon him and I was ebbing away.

  29. 16:16

Otherwise he could not have died with their sisters. So God never forsook him like the Father of Gideon never forsook him. But we need to understand exactly what did Jesus say? My power, my power. Why have you forsaken me? Why has my power now caught up in this thorn Bush of humanity? Because in the beginning he could still come down from the cross, but a few hours later that would not have been possible.

  30. 16:41

It was necessary that his power went away from him so that he could fulfill. And then in Genesis 22. After the events. In verse 14, look what it says there. Abram called the name of that place because the power of that place is in its name. It says in in the English here Jehovah.

  31. 17:02

Yeah, well Jehovah is a bad translation. It is Yahweh and it’s not Yah, it is Yah. E got to provide or you can. There’s an interpretation, it says in the Hebrew. The Ha that’s in the mountain, Yahweh, Yah E shall be seen because Abraham looked into the future. He saw the place afar off.

  32. 17:31

He knew that the greater Son of God himself, his only begotten Son, would be sacrificed on that mountain. In the mount. Yahweh shall be seen, and all that would have gone through the head of the Lord Jesus Christ when he was standing on the top of that Mount of Olives and looking over Jerusalem. He would have gone forward in His mind to the time of David when?

  33. 17:58

David had built a city. Here he was, his palace. But outside, here’s the top of the mountain, and next to it was a threshing floor. And he built an altar there that became the altar for the beautiful temple which King Solomon had. Built. And so the city grew through the 80s, but the place of the altar always remained the same. It was the city of David.

  34. 18:20

This is the city of Solomon in the town of King Hezekiah. The city was. Made very, very large. All the western hill was now included in the limits of Jerusalem. Now originally it was only on the eastern hill. The Old City is built on two hills, the eastern hill and the western hill.

  35. 18:38

And God’s purposes was the eastern hill. That’s where the city of Melchisedecros, the city of David. That’s where Sonam built a temple, but later it was extended and Hezekiah. Built a big wall. Around it, and he joined the city together. That’s what it says in Psalm 22. Jerusalem is a city that is not compact, that is joined together. Hezekiah joined the Western Wall with Heston Hill to the east wall by this massive city wall which had been excavated as well.

  36. 19:09

And after the exile, Nehemiah first, Ezra came back. It’s a rebel and Yeshua, they built the altar first. And only 20 years later another temple was built and Nehemiah built the city walls. And that’s it again developed until you come to the time of Christ. And this is the city which he saw.

  37. 19:28

There’s a huge temple complex, a beautiful gold covered temple, but still that altar there in front. Here’s the Siloam pool where Jesus healed the blind man. Here is the palace of Pilate, the Praetorium where Jesus stood before Pilate. And somewhere here is the palace of the high priest. And we’re going to follow the roots of the Lord Jesus Christ in those last days.

  38. 19:52

But. When he was standing still on the top of the Mount of Olives breadness. I think he would have thought about the red heifer. In Numbers chapter 19 we read about the red heifer. Let’s go to Numbers chapter 19. And in verse 2, this is the ordinance of the law which Yao had commanded, saying, Speak on the children official, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, without blemish, upon which never came a yoke, or Christ was without spot and without blemish.

  39. 20:35

And ye shall give her unto Eliezer the priest, that may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face. And Eliezer the priest shall take off the blood of his. Finger and sprinkle. Off her blood, directly before the Tabernacle of the congregation, 7 times one shall burn the heifer in his sight.

  40. 20:52

Her skin, her flesh, her blood pressure, dung shall he burn. And the priest shall take cedar root and hyssop and scalp and cast it into the midst of the burning. Of the heifer and then they would take 1st 10 the ashes of the heifer heifer they put it in a bowl of water and it would personally to be purified. You sprinkled that person with the ashes of the red heifer, but it says in verse 4 the blood was sprinkled directly before the Tabernacle.

  41. 21:28

And they did the same thing in the time of the Lord Jesus Christ, as you can read in the Mishnah, there was a place on the Mount of Olives right opposite the temple just before you go down, and that is where they sacrificed the red heffer. So Jesus would have thought about that red heffer, and you can read in Hebrews Chapter 9 with the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of the heffer sprinkling the unclean.

  42. 21:51

It was sacrificed on the place where he was pregnant. Sisters, if it sanctifies to the puring after flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Because standing on the spot where the red heifer was sacrificed, from time to time, Jesus knew that he would have to shed his own blood. And there’s another association there with the Mount of Olives. On Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, a priest would bring 2 almost identical looking goats and present him before the high priest at the foot of the steps that lead up to the port of the temple.

  43. 22:36

And while they were standing there before the high priest, the high priest would cast lots. And they’ve made lots again today by the sisters. They have a little box here and it says he lots, and this is Le Azazel for the scapegoat. And the priest here standing with the two goats, he has drawn his lot hosed up Le Azazel and that goat would get a scarred thread round his horns. But then the priest would, because he’s facing the temple here.

  44. 23:10

Then he would turn the goat. Around when it faced the people and he had. Put his hand on the head of the goat, and he laid all the things of the hen on the head of the goat. A design is booked. The temple, right? A more marked type of Christ could not have been conceived. As he was brought forth by Pilot and stood before the people just before he was about to be let forth, bearing the iniquity of the people, he said, Behold the scapegoat, Pilot says. Behold the man I saw, Brendan sisters that scapegoats, as you can read in Leviticus 16.

  45. 23:55

He shall bear upon him all the iniquities unto a land not inhabited. I think I mentioned this before. He shall let the goat into the wilderness. But the Hebrew says He shall bear upon him all the iniquities, 16 of his, 22 of his, into a land cut off. It’s the same word as is used in Isaiah 53.

  46. 24:16

He was cut off out of the land of the living. So it’s not only the association with the red heifer, but also with the scapegoat, because that was brought out of the temple, went across the Kedong Valley, passed by Gethsemane, went up that path where Jesus was standing at the top. All those things by the scissors would have gone through his head. And the more we know Scriptures.

  47. 24:42

And the more we know what happened at particular places where the Lord Jesus Christ was, the more we can enter into His mind. And here it is, Then that’s scapegoat. I will place His. Hands on the head of the scapegoat who symbolically carried away the sins of the people into a land cut off.

  48. 25:02

Leviticus 1622 and Isaiah says that he was cut off, same word out of the land of the living. So if you remember then the red heaven and the scapegoat, the types of what the Lord Jesus Christ was now going to fulfil and so when he walked down that path. And you can still do that today.

  49. 25:27

He’s our son Benjamin, and our daughter-in-law, Claire, walking down that path as Jesus did. So he would have thought, brethren, sisters, that was the day that David fled from his son Absalom, because he crossed the Kedon Valley and went over the Mount of Olives. You can read the whole story there. And he just knew that he was going to be rejected by his brethren also.

  50. 25:49

But as David came back the second time as king, he would have taken comfort. But as David also came back the second time to be king of Israel, so Jesus also would come back the second time king of Israel. He would have thought then about the root of the scapegoat, the root of the red heifer. But at the bottom of this road by the Sisters is Gethsemane. And that’s where Jesus went next. Let’s go to.

  51. 26:17

John, Chapter 18. So after Jesus had spoken all those words of John 17, then he went over with his disciples over the brook Kitron. There was a garden into the which he entered and his disciples. It wasn’t really happening then when he went down the first time, but a few days later he would be there in Gethsemane.

  52. 26:51

And what does it mean by the sisters? Gethsemane is only the Greek form of the Hebrew Gatsmanim. It means the Press of the olive oil. And we need to understand how an olive press works because that process. Of getting an olive produce eventually, that oil was a very harsh process.

  53. 27:19

So we’ve seen then that Jesus came down from Gethsemane and you one slide behind. Here’s Gethsemane. He came down that path. It comes down right here, and here is Gethsemane. It means an olive press, and here is one example is in Capernaum, there are many all over the country. It’s a huge wooden basin with kind of an upright stand and a hole in the middle because a wooden beam goes through the hole of that roller.

  54. 27:53

There was turned around over those olives. I remember one of our little boys and for the first time showed him the olive press and I told him that the olives get picked off the tree. And they put it in this basin. And then the. Wheel runs over it to crush it. So the little boy says wow, if I was an olive I’d be dead.

  55. 28:17

And and that’s it. It’s the first phase of producing the Holy Spirit, of which the olive oil is a type. So first of all, the oils get crushed. They need to be broken open and then they need to be pressed, and there are two ways of doing that. In the Old Testament period, in both pairs, they put those crushed olives in a round basket.

  56. 28:39

They stacked them up in the Old Testament period underneath a heavy stone and a. Huge. Lever a huge. Beam is massive stones hanging on it and slowly, slowly that would press the oil out of those crushed olives and here in the second temple period they had a contraction out of stone or a fruit and a screw and that pressed down and down and down on all those baskets that were filled just the crushed olives so eventually.

  57. 29:09

The olive oil comes out. I mean, nobody says that olive oil is a type of the Holy Spirit. Which can only produce it through crushing and pressing. And that’s why Jesus had to be in the Garden of Gethsemane. So it’s good to think from that about the literal process by the Sisters of the Garden of Gethsemane, the garden of the oil press, because that was the process.

  58. 29:37

Which Jesus is going to go through right now. After he was arrested in Gethsemane, we skipped now the. Days in between. He was brought to the palace of the high priest. Look at John 18 and verse 13.

  59. 29:54

After he was arrested in Gethsemane, they led him away to Anas first, where he was father-in-law, to Caiaphas, which was the high priest. The same hour. Now Caiaphas was he which gave counsel to the Jews that was expedient for one man to die for the people. And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple, and that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

  60. 30:20

Let us go back to slides. We we made a map, one of our Bible charts, to show exactly that path of the last day of the Lord Jesus Christ. Here’s the Garden of Gethsemane. He would have walked alongside the east side of the Temple Mount, go through the Mifkad Gate. That was the gate through which the red heifer and the scapegoat was led out. Then he came round the Double Gate Plaza, and then he went here to the palace of the High Priest. From there he was led to Pirate, who stayed in the old palace of King Herod the Great, and he had this judgment seat there called the Praetorian.

  61. 31:00

From there he went to Herod Antipath, who lived in the Hasmonean Palace. From the Hasmonean Palace, back to Pirate again, and then to Golkotha. Now some people think it’s here, some people think it’s there. I think it’s somewhere else, but never mind. Professor Avigad, during his 10 year long excavations in the Jewish quarter, uncovered a massive building and I was later put in charge in the restoration of this building.

  62. 31:33

It’s an absolutely massive building. The professor called it the palatial mansion. It’s occupied about 5 1/2 thousand square feet. It was a huge building which was had all the rooms centred around a stone courtyard. And it’s the main reception room. But I’ve also decorated with stucco or with fresco. There are bathrooms here and this particular one, it’s four MIC FA Oh, ritual bath for bathing. One here, one there and two below the courtyard and the staircase going down.

  63. 32:06

And you can. Walk through the palace and today because it’s been opened to the public and if you know your scriptures you can imagine exactly what happened when Jesus stood before Anas now Anas was the high priest, but not really because Caiaphas was the high priest see Anas was only high priest from. 680 to 1580 and then he was that was the the time the Romans gave him to be high priest and it had another neck, another high priest and another one and another one actually all the. Five sons of Anas, the high priest, became high priest one after the other, so I can imagine. Anas the great behind the scenes telling his sons what to do, and then he went through his five sons and then no more sons then his son-in-law.

  64. 32:54

Caiaphas became high priest in the time of the Lord Jesus Christ. But Jesus was led to Anas first. He was the major power figure, the Eminence Greece of the high priesthood, and he stood before him, I believe, in this reception room, which we restored. And I made a reconstruction drawing of this magnificent building, the most beautiful room ever excavated in Jerusalem and in the whole of the land of Israel.

  65. 33:23

It is 6 metres wide and 11 1/2 metres wide. That was the reception room of the high priest. And I believe that Jesus stood before the high priest in this particular room. And if you can follow me, then you can understand what Peter was also, because John knew the high priest and he went into the palace.

  66. 33:42

And so, and he took in Peter also. Now in that centre courtyard we read in John 18 and verse 18. And the servants and the officers stood there who had made a fire of cold, for it was cold. And they warned themselves. And Peter stood with with them and warned himself. So he’s our daughter-in-law, Claire, with a pretend fire, the rucksack there.

  67. 34:08

And people were warming themselves in the courtyard because to warm the rooms, you can’t make a bonfire in the room because everything gets black. They brought charcoal in from the Mount of Olives that they bought and they they heated it up and they had bronze braziers in which the the burning coals were put in and ones had stopped smoking.

  68. 34:27

And they put them in the different rooms. And Peter was there, and we know. All how the cock grew three times and Jesus looked at Peter. How is that possible by the sisters? There’s only one place where that is possible. He asked. And that the husband of our daughter Claire stands there next to my own picture here on the wall when I was doing the. Restoration standing in the place right in the centre of this building where we believe Jesus stood and Peter moved away from the fire because they thought he was a Galilee. But if you stand exactly in the centre of the reception room, there are two doorways you can look through. If you stand in the one corner of that courtyard, you can look right into the reception room.

  69. 35:15

And then the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. And Peter, remember the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him before the Cockrell, Thou shalt deny me thrice. And sober. And sisters, here in the place in this corner of the courtyard which we restored, you look through the entrance hall, through this doorway and right in the centre there Jesus stood. I put the Bible up in there in a one place where you can stand. And then Peter remembered the words of Jesus which said on train before the cock crowed, I shall deny me thrice. And he went out.

  70. 35:48

And that’s bitterly. Yeah. And so it’s amazing by my sisters. Once the two were there and one of the brothers who knew the Scriptures all stood in that. Place and he broke. Down. But, she said. We all stood there. We’ve all denied the Lord Jesus in our life. And so from the palace of the high priest, Jesus brought to Pilot, where he stood before him. And it’s all amazing for the sisters to follow the that way to Golgotha.

  71. 36:25

He went to Herod Antipaths and back to Pilot, and then he was brought out to Golgotha. Now there are arguments where Golgotha is, but actually it doesn’t matter. We are told that he was brought to a place of a skull. And that’s the important thing, brethren and sisters.

  72. 36:46

What skull was it? Whose skull was it? Where Jesus was crucified? The place of a skull, The traditions that when Christ. Died a blood of drop of blood trickle down on what the Jews believe where Adam’s skull is buried. They believe that Adam’s. Skull is buried. On. In Jerusalem, just north of Mount Moriah.

  73. 37:15

And he momentarily became alive, and then he died again. But they’re just legends. But there’s a very powerful connection with the skull, brain and scissors. If you turn to One Samuel chapter 17, they’ve got the battle of David with Goliath, a story which we know very well indeed. But we need to look, brethren, sisters, what motivated David? Where did he get the courage from to face this giant? It says in verse 45.

  74. 38:03

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comes to me with a sword and a spear, and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of Yahweh of armies, the Elvin of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will Yahweh deliver thee into mine hands, and I will smite thee and take thy hat from thee.

  75. 38:26

Now give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. There is pregnant sisters. It’s one word in Hebrew. It is yesh. His sole purpose was that to show that there is yesh, a God in Israel.

  76. 38:55

That’s the name of David’s father and a brother in our meeting, which is called. Jesse. Jesse means there is, and David came to show who his real father was. Of course, Jesse. Was his father from Bethlehem, but his real father was in was God in heaven? I’m come here to show that the whole world may know that Jesse that there is a God in Israel and after he’d killed the the giant in verse 54, David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem.

  77. 39:35

Why? Why did he care that massive head head and walked all the way up the the the Valley of Elah and go over Bethlehem and go to Jerusalem and bury that head there? Well, let us first. Come back to him again what David did, He came to declare the name of his father. Saul didn’t know who he was.

  78. 40:00

He knew who David was, but he didn’t know who David’s father was. He says three times about David Luke in verse 56, the king said in choir, Whose son is this tripling of verse 55. First he said to Abner. The captain tells Abner, whose son is this youth? The second one says, 56 Whose son is this tripling?

  79. 40:25

Verse 58 Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I’m the son of thy servant. There is. Yes, he the Bethlehemites, but Jonathan understood all, David said. I’m the son of our servant, Jesse. He would have listened. To David when he said there. Is. A God in Israel, because verse 18, verse one, it came to pass when he had made an end of speaking to soul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

  80. 41:02

When they’ve made the end of speaking, what did he say? I am the son of the one who is, and that is why this wonderful friendship started between Jonathan and David and that school. Was brought to Jerusalem. Now Jerusalem in that time there was only a Canaanite city where the Melchizedek city was. It was on the eastern hill of Jerusalem and I believe he would have buried that school to the north of that city, but north of Mount of Mount Moriah.

  81. 41:34

If you go. Nowadays to Jerusalem, the perpetual question we were asked by Christian Delphi is when we lived there, where’s the tomb of Jesus? Is the Holy Sepulchre or the Garden tomb, the Holy Sepulchre? Brandon, sisters, this is David. That’s the real skull we need to think about. But outside Jerusalem, at the time of Jesus, there was the temple.

  82. 41:54

And here’s the 1st wall and the second wall there’s a garden gate and you can go inside the Holy Sepulchre. The top of this rock is visible. You can’t even put 3 crosses on it. And they say that’s the place where Christ was crucified. I had to make this drawing against my own ideas for the ESV study Bible.

  83. 42:12

But then there you go. But there’s another place to the north of the old city, near the Damascus Gate and the bus station. And there you can see a mount of formation with a kind of a. Skull in it, but is that the skull? The Bible refers to by the sisters. Was the significance of a rock face which was cut later after Christ died already that he went to the place called the school. It’s a fulfillment when it says let’s go to. Psalm 110 And that’s what David understood. Goliath was the was the head of the great enemy of Israel, who defied the name of the living God of Israel. And then it gets Psalm 110.

  84. 42:54

David understood, he says, Yahweh said unto my Master, to my Lord, talking about his seed, the Lord Jesus Christ. He called him Master Adam in Hebrew, sit at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy fruitstool. Let me read that he was going to make a priest in verse 4, after the order of Melchizedek, that in verse five he was strike through kings in the days of his wrath.

  85. 43:19

And in verse six he shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with the dead bodies, He shall wound the head of a great country. It says in the Hebrew, just like Goliath was the head of a great country of the Philistines, the enemy of God. So in the last days there will be a head of all the armies that come against Jesus, and he will just crush them. And the proof of God’s power in crushing the head of the enemy of Israel was.

  86. 43:52

Taking that skull and burying it in Golgotha. And therefore David overcame the greatest enemy of his saw at his time. But Jesus overcame a much greater enemy, death itself on the place of the skull, the skull of Goliath, which foreshadowed his own burial place. It’s over in the Sisters. The Garden Tomb is closer to my heart, although the tomb which is there was already 700 years old when Christ died and was buried. So that cannot have been the tomb. But at least if you’ve been there as a beautiful quiet garden and you can walk around to the benches to sit down and you can open your Bible and read and think about this great event, the power of God, Gotham, and. Then Jesus was laid in a new tomb. Well, a new tomb would have looked like this. It would have been only A1 chamber tomb with three benches because the disciples and the women had to bend down. They saw the body lying right in front of them. But that tomb has not been found. Let’s go to John chapter 20 verse 5 and verse 8, because that way it says so Peter who came first to the sepulchre, John 20 verse 5, and he’s stooping down. He had to bend down a low opening. He saw the linen clothes lining, and yet he went not in. Then comes Simon Peter following him and bent into the sepulchre and seized the linen clothesline and the napkin that was about the head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped to get into place by itself.

  87. 45:38

That meant also the other disciple is John which came first to the sepulchre and he saw and he believed. What did He see by the sisters that made Him believe? I’ll go back to Lazarus in Chapter 11 because in John 11 and verse 44 when Jesus raised up Lazarus, in verse 44 it says he that was dead came forth. He was bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and His face was bound about with a napkin, and he sent him loose him and let him go.

  88. 46:21

He had to be. Loosed. He was all tied up, hovering over his head. He couldn’t see, and he just came mortal out of the grave. And the proof is what John saw. Because he needed the help of the angels to take that headcloth off his face so that he could see what to do. Then he could.

  89. 46:38

Sit up with help of the angels. Take off all the grave clothes. And then only after it appeared to Mary Magdalene, then he went up. He was close upon his immortality, and went up to his father. And then by the sisters, he went up. The disciples went before him to Galilee. They appeared to them. They would have gone over Bethabarra and they can imagine that Jesus, if not embodied and in spirit, he would have again crossed Bethabarra where he met the disciples and he gave them the Great Commission.

  90. 47:08

And then he went back to Bethany. He went back to Bethany. He looked 24. It says he led them out as far as to Bethany and lifted up his hands and blessed them. When he had spoken these things while they be held, he was taken up in a cloud. Received him out at their sight. Well, on the top of the Mount of Olives, right in the sight of the old city is the Tower of Dissension. People don’t read carefully.

  91. 47:34

Bretton sisters. These didn’t go up to heaven in full view of the city. He went as far as Bethany, who was living in Bethany by any sisters. That’s where his friends lived, Martha and Mary and Lazarus. And I believe that he went to his father from the House of his friends and that is a wonderful thing.

  92. 48:01

And then the Angel said in next chapter 1. Why do you gaze up into heaven? The same Jesus which is taken up from you in heaven. So, So come in like manner as you see him go in heaven. And then they returned unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet. So we need to know those places, brethren, sisters.

  93. 48:18

And I lived for two years in Bethany. I know the place. It took me about 20 minutes every morning to walk from our house, which is here all the way up the back of the Mount of Olives until you come to the top. You go down to Kidron Valley and. Here I’ve worked and my wife’s Catherine as well, and that journey’s printed on my mind because I’ve must have walked it hundreds of times.

  94. 48:42

So Ben insists we need to prepare ourselves for the return of our Lord, because He will come back to the Mount of Olives with Christ. We have walked through the land, the length of it and the breadth of it. We’ve been in Bethlehem and witnessed God’s Providence in having prepared a birthplace for His Son in his own inheritance.

  95. 49:03

We’ve seen why God chose Nazareth, that humble village in the north, far away from the destructions of the world, as the best place for the education of His Son. The woman of. Samaria gave us hope for his Gentiles to be grafted into that natural olive tree of Israel which was predicted by Jacob, and he contemplated the place where Jesus was baptized and Bethabara and reflected on the need to revisit her own baptism time and time again as the Lord Jesus Christ did. Now when we lie bed at night, so we have time to think for a quiet moment.

  96. 49:39

We could also be Hebrews if we use the Scriptures in our mind. That was to help the scripture. We can pass through the land on which Yahweh’s eyes are resting continually. You could think of other journeys in the Bible. The journey of Abraham is think about the journey of the Exodus from Egypt, the journey of the messenger in Revelation 2 and three visiting the seven eccleses in Revelation.

  97. 50:05

We also are on a long journey by the sisters on a pilgrimage to Zion and we should often think how are we going to get there? By God’s grace, Jeremiah says, let Jerusalem come into your mind. And Jacob spoke about his pilgrimage. He counted every day of his life. He said to Pharaoh, the days of the years of my pilgrimage are 130 years.

  98. 50:35

And David wrote in the sounds that thy statutes have been my songs in the House of my pilgrimage. We are on a journey by the sisters. In the Kingdom. If I got grace, we’ll be able to serve and help the Lord Jesus Christ as king and priest. It says in Jeremiah again in those days and in that time says Yahweh, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together going and weeping.

  99. 50:59

They shall go and seek Yahweh the Alabim. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces did words saying, come and let us join ourselves to Yahweh in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. So even if He can’t physically be in Israel when the sisters or in the surrounding countries, we can take the abundant lessons which Yahweh has embedded in the land as he which He has searched out for His own children.
