Welcome to good Chris selfie and talks. I’m Levi. I’m Chris. I’m Jason. And I’m Brian, thank you for joining us this week on this podcast. We select one talk a week to help us get the Bible in our Daily News feed. Each week we post talk that we previewed from suggestions sent in by listeners from around the world. Then we record a short intro beforehand as a personalized recommendation to you on why we are sharing the talk. And now let’s talk more about this week’s talk. Everyone, it’s Jason Hensley and this week we’re going to listen to a talk by brother Lane Rittmeyer given at the Ontario Winter Bible School in 2010.

  2. 1:01

This is the last in his series on the power of Bible places and their lessons for us now. I think the whole series is great, so if you get a chance, go ahead and listen to that. But this class is really good for just capping off the whole series and the ideas that he’s really trying to bring out.

  3. 1:22

Essentially, what he’s looking at is events that happened in this biblical place and also what you can learn from the surroundings of that area. So it’s really exciting because it brings together a lot of pieces of the Bible and really helps to make a place come alive. So I hope that this helps give you a vision, a little bit bigger picture of the land of Israel and of the places where these things that we read about took place.

  4. 2:00

And ultimately through that vision helps make these things real. This final class is about Golgotha, as you can probably figure out from the name, and it just traces through the different things that took place at Golgotha. And I think one of my favorite things about this class is the way that Brother Lane brings out the Hebrew and some of the nuance that’s going on in the Hebrew. So I think you’ll find that exciting. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope that these lessons really resonate with you and that you are thus motivated to be able to see these places in your mind and recognize the reality of them and what happened there.

  5. 2:44

So here we go. This is Brother Lane Rittmeyer, a place called Golgotha. Yesterday we followed Jesus from Jerusalem when he went to that city of Ephraim where he meditated on the life of Gideon. And then he went to Bethabara. And then he followed his path from Bethabara up to Bethany, where he stayed in the House of his friends Martha, Mary, and Lazarus and their father Simon de Lape.

  6. 3:19

The following day he would have left that house and he went up to Jerusalem and he passed by Bethpage. Bethany means the House of good figs. Bethpage means the House of unripe figs. And there he took that donkey way, which was a fulfillment of another ancient promise. But you won’t have time to go into that. And then when he came to the top of the Mount of Olives, which you can see right here, there’s a beautiful mount, especially in twilight.

  7. 3:49

He was now standing here on the top of the Mount of Olives. And here is the path going down if you go to Luke chapter 17

  8. 4:01

sorry Luke 19 and there we read the verse 29 came to pass. When I was come night to Bethfage and Bethany to mount called Olives. He sent 2 disciples saying Go into the village over against you in the which you are entering you shall find a cold tie. Never man yet said, Lose him, and bring him hidden.

  9. 4:27

If any man ask you, Why do you lose him? Thus shall he say unto him, Because the Lord of him has need sustained the Greek. And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he said unto them, unless they were losing the cold, the owners thereof said unto them, Why lose ye the cold? And he said, The Lord of him has need. And they brought him to Jesus, And they cast their garments upon the cold, and they set Jesus down, and as he went they spread their clothes in the way.

  10. 4:54

And when he was come nigh, even now at the descend of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen. Well, the fact by an insisted that they put on their their clothes on their donkey and on the road reminds us very much as when Elisha was sent to anoint Jehu king of Israel, because they also they heard and they took their clothes and spread their clothes under him and said that blue trump said Jehu is king by putting you garments on on a donkey or on the road and underneath the person, the Lord Jesus Christ or you in the past. It’s an honour which you give to kings and it’s obvious that the people wanted to proclaim him king to get rid of the Roman domination and to be a free people one again, once again. And that was the accusation written on his cross. This is Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. But we see how fickle people are, brethren and sisters. They were praising God and the next two days later they said crucify him.

  11. 6:11

But we are here at the very top of the descent when Jesus went down to Jerusalem and we want to stay there for a little bit because the associations of the Mount of Olives and that particular spot where he stood, which is directly opposite the temple. When you’re there, we try to enter into the mind of Jesus. What would have gone through his mind knowing the Scriptures, what should go through our mind by my sisters when we stand there.

  12. 6:44

But when you’re on the top of the Mount of Olives, that is what you see. You see the Temple Mount, the beautiful Golden Temple where which stood there and Herod stood. Here’s the the Golden Gate. I remember when the disciples sat on the Mount of Olives in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 said Master, behold the buildings of the temple. And he said not one stone shall be left upon another. But they saw something like this. There was a golden faced temple which at the height of our 20 Storey high building.

  13. 7:17

These were the buildings of the temple. They were built around it which the Antonia Fortes on the northwest where corridors are going all around here in the royal store. And here’s the Shushan Gate, the eastern gate with the lower gate, the myth gate gate, and the path going down into the Kidron Valley.

  14. 7:36

And that was the temple. They would have seen something similar at least when they looked over the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. But Jesus mind pregnant sisters would have gone over the whole history, I believe of the city of Jerusalem and where does it start? It start with Genesis chapter 14.

  15. 8:01

Then after Abram had we spoke about this earlier, brought back Lot, Melchizedek, the king of Salem, the king of righteous as the king of peace, brought forth bread and wine, and he was the priest of the Most High God. And these would have known from Psalmont and 10 that thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, because he instituted the bread and the wine which we celebrate every Sunday.

  16. 8:27

But it was first of all instituted by Melchizedek. And this is a model which we built in, in which the students in Heritage College. And you can see Abram coming back here with Lot and Melchizedek coming down the mountainside and the king of Sodom. And a wonderful meeting took place right beside the Gaeon spring, the spring of living waters which reflect the word of God. Pregnant sisters and there must have been an amazing event as a was passing by through the Kidon Valley just below the top of Mount Moriah he wonder if he knew what was going to happen next.

  17. 9:06

If you go to Genesis chapter 14 and there’s something amazing there, I believe, because after now Kiszek and verse 18 brought forth bread and wine and he was the priest of the most high ale and he blessed Abraham immediately after that event we have Genesis 15. Have you ever connected the two things? It says after these things now doesn’t mean to say 10 years later.

  18. 9:46

It could have been immediately after this word. After these things occurs many times, especially in the book of Genesis. I mean, we’ve looked at one event and now we’ve got to look at the next event. Where would Abram F stay now? The city of Melchizedek was too small to accommodate all his army.

  19. 10:03

He would probably have encamped on Mount Moriah. And then in chapter 15 God appears to him and he says, fear not Abraham in first one I’m thy shield and I exceeding great reward. And he was said, Lord Yahweh, what will thou give me, seeing I go childless and the steward of my house is this early age of Damascus.

  20. 10:25

He said, behold to me thou was given no seed, and the one born in my house is mine heir. He was asking for a son. And I believe Ben says he was on Mount Moriah when he asked for that, for that, that request. And then in verse 5, God brought him forth abroad in if the camp of Abel was somewhere here, he may have walked to the top of the Mount Moriah.

  21. 10:48

And God brought him forth abroad. And he said, look now towards heaven, and tell the stars if they’ll be able to number them. And he said unto him, So shall thy see be. And he believed in Yahweh and he counted him to him for righteousness. But I believe when this is that chapters connected to chapter 14 would make great sense that the promise of a son has been given on Mount Moriah itself. Anyway, at least it is something for you to think about because we aren’t told exactly where it was. And the next chapter 16, we are back in Sarah’s 10s. And so a few chapters later, when the sisters or after these promises of a son have been given, and that great sacrifice took place where he defied all those animals because all the abrid built and he built an altar there later on. And it became the altar where which David built. It became the altar of all the temples by the sisters. All these associations in there are there. But now let’s go to Chapter 22 because it came to pass after these things when Isaac was born

  22. 12:05

and Godhead, I believe, rejuvenated Abraham and Sarah so that they could bring forth the son. And now comes chapter 27 after these things that eleveen he tempted, he tried Abram and 17 Abraham. He said, Behold, here am I take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get it into the land of Moriah, and offer him therefore a burnt offering upon one of the mountains, which I will tell thee of.

  23. 12:33

The name Moriah, brethman sisters, means the teaching of Yah. And we know that Avon believed God that he was able to raise him up from the dead, as we have told him. Hebrews Chapter 11. That teaching on the mount of teaching Mount Moriah, is the resurrection of the dead. The man word shechem means getting up early and bearing the burden.

  24. 13:01

Now Abraham rose up early, he got on his shoulder and he pushed himself up and he put the wood on the shoulder of Isaac, also a burden bearer. They sell at his ass to two of his young men with him and Isaac’s son claimed the wood for a burnt offering and rose up and bent on the place of which Alwin had told him. It must have been a very difficult journey, very hard to hear, but he got up early in the morning and he did it asking no questions.

  25. 13:25

Jacob called Joseph said, look, very brethren are He got up and he went. And then we read in verse 4. Then on the third day Abram lifted up his eyes and he saw the place afar off. But you go to that place where the sisters here it is, this coming from the South is the 1st place where you can see Mount Moriah in the Temple Mount, see Jerusalem in the Temple Mount and near the city of Naukis, that is is in a bowl. They call it the Sacred Bowl and the mountains round about it. You can’t see it from fire.

  26. 14:01

You’re almost on top of it and suddenly that it’s all in front of you. So to say he saw the place far off from 10:10 or 20 miles further away doesn’t make any sense. Isn’t 1 kilometre to go and you’re there. That’s a very special word. The word afar off because David used the very sane word, but he translated it very differently. Then Abram lifted his eye and saw the place afar off. That word afar off his Merhak in Hebrew. And God gave those wonderful promises to David in the book of chronic on Samuel says thou has spoken also to thy servants house for a great while to come.

  27. 14:43

It’s the same word in Hebrew brethren, sisters, Merhak. So it is not the physical distance that was very far off, but God made Abraham look into the future to that greatest sacrifice that was also brought on Mount Moriah.

  28. 15:02

Because here we see a mosaic floor portraying the events of Genesis 22. He will see Abraham, he’s his name, Avraham lifting up Itzhak, there is Isaac. I think Isaac was a bit bigger than to be able to pick him up his one hand, he carried all the root for the burnt of himself.

  29. 15:24

And then we see the man which is thorns in what is a thorn Bush and the little black cloud hides the Angel. You can’t portray the Angel. The hand represents the Angel, the Angel saying, Alti slack, don’t send your hand to slay Isaac and hear the two servants waiting with the donkeys. And the great thing is, if you look at verse 5 of Genesis 22 by the sisters, it’s much stronger in the Hebrew.

  30. 15:54

Abel said it to his young men, Abide here with the S and I, and the lad will go Yonder and worship, and we will come again to you. He’s speaking in the plural. We didn’t say I am coming back. No, we, Isaac and myself will come back to you. His faith in the resurrection is expressed here because God has said that his siege on inherit the land forever. Well, how can he give a promise like that? If he was going to kill Isaac, I would believe that even if God was gone, he had to kill.

  31. 16:27

God would have to raise him from the dead to fulfil those promises. Think of that R.E.M. Brethren, sisters, that R.E.M that was caught in a thicket by his horns, that was a thorn Bush. That ram, by getting his head in the thorn Bush, he got thorns in his head. And Jesus stood before those Roman shelves, they put a crown of thorns on his head.

  32. 16:58

It’s a fulfilment of the type of the ram that were thick at that thorn which is called Sabah. It’s a thorny Bush and you can see a ram which is horn in the thicket. When he says Eli, Eli lama sabakhtani, it doesn’t mean in the Hebrew why thou have forsaken me, because that will be azaftani. Sabak is that thicket.

  33. 17:22

It means the horns of the Rambo court. It represents humanity and Christ never felt the humanity of Himself greater than when He was hanging on that tree. God never forsook His Son when he says Eli Eli Lama SA Bahtani. He doesn’t. He doesn’t use the word Yahweh. He doesn’t use the word Elohim. He used the word ail.

  34. 17:49

Ail is my ail and ail means power. He said actually my power, my power. Why has thou thicketed me? Because I said thorn Bush neutralized the power of the ram. So the power which Jesus had, which was given to him when he was baptized in Bethabara, when the Holy Spirit came upon him and I was ebbing away. Otherwise he could not have died with their sisters. So God never forsook him like the Father of Gideon never forsook him.

  35. 18:22

But we need to understand exactly what did Jesus say? My power, My power? Why have you forsaken me? Why is my power now caught up in this thorn Bush of humanity? Because in the beginning He could still come down from the cross, but a few hours later that would not have been possible. It was necessary that His power went away from him so that he could fulfil.

  36. 18:46

And then in Genesis 22, after the events in verse 14, look what it says there. Abram called the name of that place because the power of that place is in its name. It says in in the English Jehovah, Jehovah. It’s a bad translation and it’s Yahweh and it’s not yeh. It is Yeh God will provide. Well, you can.

  37. 19:10

There’s an interpretation. It says in the Hebrew, the heart that’s in the mountain Yahweh, yere shall be seen. Because Abraham looked into the future, he saw the place afar off. He knew that the greater Son of God himself, his only begotten son, would be sacrificed on that mountain. In the mount Yahweh shall be seen, and all that would have gone through the head of the Lord Jesus Christ. When he was standing on the top of that Mount of Olives and looking over Jerusalem, He would have come forward in his mind to the time of David.

  38. 19:55

When David had built a city here he was his palace, but outside he is the top of the mountain. And next it was a threshing floor, and he built an altar there that became the altar for the beautiful temple which King Solomon had built. And so the city grew through the ages, but the place of the alt always remained the same. It was the city of David.

  39. 20:18

This is the city of Solomon in the town of King Hezekiah. The city was made very, very large. All the western hill was now included in the limits of Jerusalem. Now originally it was only on the eastern hill. The old city is built on two hills, the eastern hill and the western hill.

  40. 20:36

And God’s purposes was the eastern hill, that’s where the city of Melchizedek cross, the city of David as where Sonam built a temple. But later it was extended and Hezekiah built a big wall around it and he joined the city together. That’s what it says in Psalm 22. Jerusalem is a city that is not compact, that is joined together. Hezekiah joined the Western Wall with Heston Hill to the east wall by this massive city wall which has been excavated as well.

  41. 21:07

And after the exile, Nehemiah first, Ezra came back, Richard Rebel and Joshua, they built the altar first. And only 20 years later another temple was built and Nehemiah built the city walls and that’s it again developed until you come to the time of Christ. And this is the city which he saw. There’s a huge temple complex, a beautiful gold covered temple, but still that altar there in front. Here’s the Siloam pool where Jesus healed the blind man. Here is the palace of Pilate, the Praetorium where Jesus stood before Pilate.

  42. 21:43

And somewhere here is the palace of the high priest. And we’re going to follow the root of the Lord Jesus Christ in those last days. But when he was standing still on the top of the Mount of Olives breadness, I think he would have thought about the red heaven. In Numbers chapter 19 we read about the red heifer.

  43. 22:03

Let’s go to Numbers chapter 19 and in verse 2. This is the ordinance of the law which Yahweh had commanded, saying, Speak on the children official, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, without blemish, upon which never came a yoke, or Christ was without spot and without blemish. And he shall give her unto Eliezer the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and Montreal Slayer before his face. And Eliezer the priest shall take off the blood of his finger, and sprinkle off her blood directly before the Tabernacle of the congregation.

  44. 22:42

7 times Montreal burn the heifer in his sight. Her skin, her flesh, her blood with her dung shall he burn. And the priest shall take cedar root and hiss up and scout and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. And then they would take first then the ashes of the heifer heifer. They put it in a bowl of water.

  45. 23:03

And if a person need to be purified, you sprinkled that person with the ashes of the red heifer. But it says in verse 4 the blood was sprinkled directly before the Tabernacle, and they did the same thing in the time of the Lord Jesus Christ, as you can read in the Mishnah. There was a place on the Mount of Olives right opposite the temple just before you go down, and that is where they sacrifice the red heffer. So Jesus would have thought about that red heffer. And you can read in Hebrews Chapter 9 with the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of the heffer sprinkling the unclean.

  46. 23:44

It was sacrificed on the place where he was. Brethren and sisters, if it sanctifies to the pure enough the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit of himself, without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead, works to serve the living God? Because standing on the spot where they read Heather was sacrificed from time to time, Jesus knew that he would have to shed his own blood. And there’s another association there with the Mount of Olives. On the Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, a priest would bring 2 almost identical looking goats and present him before the high priest at the foot of the steps that lead up to the porch of the temple.

  47. 24:29

And while they were standing there before the high priest, the high priest would cast lots. And they’ve made lots again today, brethren, sisters, they have a little box here and to see lots. And this is La Azazel for the scapegoat and a priest here standing with the two goats. He had drawn his lot, holed up the Azazel, and that goat would get a scarred thread round his horns.

  48. 24:58

But then the priest would, because he’s facing the temple here. Then he would turn the goat around when it’s faced the people. And he had put his hand on the head of the goat, and he laid all the things of the hen on the head of the goat. Adesigners booked the temple, right.

  49. 25:20

A more marked type of Christ could not have been conceived, as He was brought forth by Pilot and stood before the people just before He was about to be let forth, bearing the iniquity of the people. He said, Behold the scapegoat, Pilot says, Behold the man. And so by the sisters that scapegoats, as you can read in Leviticus 16, he shall bear upon him all the iniquities unto a land not inhabited.

  50. 25:54

I think I mentioned this before. He shall let the goat into the wilderness. But the Hebrew says He shall bear upon him all the iniquities 16 of his, 22 of his into a land cut off. It’s the same word that is used in Isaiah 53. He was cut off out of the land of the living. So it’s not only the association with the red heffer, but also with the scapegoat, because that was brought out of the temple, went across the Kedong Valley, passed by Gethsemane, went up that path where Jesus was standing at the top. All those things by the scissors would have gone through his head.

  51. 26:32

And the more we know scriptures and the more we know what happened at particular places where the Lord Jesus Christ was, the more we can enter into his mind. And here it is then that scapegoat and will place his hands on the head of the scapegoat who symbolically carried away the sins of the people into a land cut off Leviticus 1622. And Isaiah says that he was cut off same word out of the land of the living.

  52. 27:04

So if you remember then where this is the red heaven and the scapegoat, the types of what the Lord Jesus Christ was now going to fulfil. And so when he walked down that path, and you can still do that today, is our son Benjamin and our daughter-in-law Claire walking down that path as Jesus did. So he would have thought Bradley sisters, that was the day that David fled from his son Absalom because he crossed the Kedon Valley and went over the Mount of Olives. You can read the whole story there. And Jesus knew that he was going to be rejected by his brethren also.

  53. 27:42

But as David came back the second time as king, he would have taken comfort. But as David also came back the second time to be king of Israel, so Jesus also would come back the second time. King of Israel would have thought then about the root of the scapegoat, the root of the red heifer. But at the bottom of this road, brethren, sisters, is Gethsemane.

  54. 28:07

And that’s where Jesus went next. Let’s go to John chapter 18. So after Jesus had spoken all those words of John 17, then he went over with his disciples over the book Ketron. There was a garden into the which he entered and his disciples, but it wasn’t really happening then when he went down the first time.

  55. 28:41

But a few days later he will be there in Gethsemane. And what does it mean by the sisters? Gethsemane is only the Greek form of the Hebrew Gatsmanim. It means the Press of the olive oil. And we need to understand how an olive press works because that process of getting an olive produce eventually that oil was a very harsh process. So we’ve seen then that Jesus came down from Gethsemane and you one slide behind.

  56. 29:19

Here’s Gethsemane. He came down that path. It comes down right here and here is Gethsemane. It means an olive press, and here is one example is in Capernaum, that many all over the country, it’s a huge wooden basin with kind of an upright stand and a hole in the middle because a wooden beam goes through the hole of that roller that was turned around over those olives.

  57. 29:48

I remember one of our little boys and for the first time showed him in the olive press and I told him that the olives get picked off the tree and they’re put here in this basin and then a wheel runs over it to crush it. So a little boy says, wow, if I was an olive, I’d be dead.

  58. 30:10

And and that’s it. It’s the first phase of producing the Holy Spirit, of which the olive oil is a type. So first of all, the oils get crushed. They need to be broken open and then they need to be pressed. And there are two ways of doing that in the Old Testament period. In both, they put those crushed olives in a round basket. They stacked them up in the Old Testament period underneath a heavy stone and a huge lever, a huge beam with massive stones hanging on it.

  59. 30:41

And slowly, slowly, that would press the oil out of those crushed olives. And here in the second temple period, they had a contraption out of stone or of root and a screw. And that’s pressed down and down and down on all those baskets that were filled, just a crushed olive. So eventually the olive oil comes out. I mean, nobody says that olive oil is a type of the Holy Spirit, which can only produce it through crushing and pressing.

  60. 31:14

And that’s why Jesus had to be in the Garden of Gethsemane. So it’s good to think sometimes about the literal process by the sisters of the Garden of Gethsemane, the garden of the oil press, because that was the process which Jesus is going to go through right now. After he was arrested in Gethsemane, we skipped now the days in between.

  61. 31:39

He was brought to the palace of the high priest. Look at John 18 and verse 13. After he was arrested in Gethsemane, they led him away to Anas first, where he was father-in-law, to Caiaphas, which was the high priest. The same hour. Now Caiaphas was he which gave counsel to the Jews that was expedient for one man to die for the people and Sinai. Peter followed Jesus and so did another disciple, and that disciple was known unto the high priest and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. Let us go back to slides.

  62. 32:17

We we made a map, one of our Bible charts to show exactly that path of the last day of the Lord Jesus Christ. Here’s the Garden of Gethsemane. He would have walked alongside the east side of the Temple Mount. Go through the myth Gad Gate. There was the gate through which the red heffer and the scapegoat was led out.

  63. 32:37

Then he came round the double gate Plaza and then he went here to the palace of the high priest. From there he was led to Pilot, who stayed in the old palace of King Herod the Great. He had this Jackman seat there called the Praetorium. From there he went to Herod Antipas, who lived in the Hasmonean Palace.

  64. 32:58

From the Hasmonean Palace, back to Pilot again, and then to Goa Costa. Some people think it’s here, some people think it’s there. I think it’s somewhere else, but never mind. Professor Avigad, during his 10 year long excavations in the Jewish quarter, uncovered a massive building and I was later put in charge in the restoration of this building. It’s an absolutely massive building. The professor called it the palatial mansion. It’s occupied about 5 1/2 thousand square feet. It was a huge building which was had all the rooms centred around a stone courtyard and it’s the main reception room. But I’ve also decorated with stucco or with fresco. There are bathrooms here and this particular one, it’s four MIC fat.

  65. 33:52

Oh, ritual bath for bathing, one here, one there and two below the courtyard and the staircase going down and you can walk through the palace. And today, because it’s been open to the public and if you know your scriptures, you can imagine exactly what happened when Jesus stood before Anas. Now Anas was the high priest, but not really because Caiaphas was the high priest. See, Anas was only high priest from 680 to 1580. And then he was that was the the time the Romans gave him to be high priest.

  66. 34:28

And it had another neck, another high priest and another one and another one. Actually all the five sons of Anas the high priest became high priest one after the other. So I can imagine Anas the great behind the scenes telling his sons what to do, and then he went through his five sons and had no more sons then his son-in-law, Caiaphas became high priest in the time of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  67. 34:52

But Jesus was led to Anas first. He was the major power figure, the Eminence Greece of the high priesthood, and he stood before him, I believe, in this reception room which we restored and I made a reconstruction drawing of this magnificent building, the most beautiful room ever excavated in Jerusalem and in the whole of the land of Israel.

  68. 35:16

It is 6 metres wide and 11 1/2 metres wide. That was the reception room of the High priest. And I believe that Jesus stood before the high priest in this particular room. And if you can follow me, then you can understand that Peter was also because John knew the high priest and he went into the palace and so and he took in Peter also. Now in that centre courtyard we read in John 18 and verse 18. And the servants and the officers stood there who had made a fire of coals were just cold and they warned themselves. And Peter stood with with them and warned himself. So he’s our daughter-in-law Claire with a pretend fire, the rucksack there and people were warming themselves in the court charge because to warm the rooms you can’t make a bonfire in the room because everything gets black. They brought charcoal in from the Mount of Olives that they brought and they they heated it up and they had bronze braziers in which the the burning coals were put in and once had stopped smoking and they put them in the different rooms and Peter was there and we know all how the cock grew three times and Jesus looked at Peter.

  69. 36:29

How is that possible? By the sisters? There’s only one place where that is possible. We are sending that. The husband of our daughter Claire stands there next to my own picture here on the wall when I was doing the restoration, standing in the place right in the centre of this building where we believe Jesus stood and Peter moved away from the fire because they thought he was a gallery. But if you stand exactly in the centre of the reception room, there are two doorways you can look through. If you stand in the one corner of that courtyard, you can look right into the reception room.

  70. 37:08

And then the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said it to him before the cockroach. Thou shalt deny me thrice. And so being sisters here in the place in this corner of the courtyard which we restored, you look through the entrance hall, through this doorway and right in the centre there Jesus stood.

  71. 37:30

I put the Bible up from there in a one place where you can stand. And then Peter remembered the words of Jesus with 17 before the cock crowed, I shall deny me thrice. And we went out. And that’s bitterly. Yeah. And so it’s amazing by my sisters. Once the two were there and one of the brothers who knew the Scripture stood in that place and he broke down because he said we all stood there.

  72. 37:54

We’ve all denied the Lord Jesus in our life. And so from the palace of the high priest, Jesus brought to pilots, where he stood before him. And it’s all amazing by the sisters to follow those that were way to go Gotha. He went to Herod Antipas and back to pilots, and then he was brought out to go Gotha.

  73. 38:24

Now there are arguments where go Gotha is, but actually it doesn’t matter. We are told that he was brought to a place of a skull and that’s the important thing. Bretton, the sisters, what skull was it? Whose skull was it? Where Jesus was crucified, The place of a skull. The traditions that when Christ died, a blood of a drop of blood trickle down on what the Jews believe where Adam’s skull is buried.

  74. 39:01

They believe that Adam’s skull is buried on in Jerusalem just north of Mount Morion, and he momentarily became alive and then he died again. But they’re just legends. But there’s a very powerful connection with the skull, bread and scissors if you turn to One Samuel, chapter 17.

  75. 39:30

They’ve got the battle of David with Goliath, a story which we know very well indeed. But we need to look pregnant sisters, What motivated David? Where did he get the courage from to face this giant? It says in verse 45. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comes to me with a sword and a spear and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name. Of Yahweh, of armies, the Elohim, of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied, this day will Yahweh deliver thee into mine hands, and I will smite thee and take thy heads from thee.

  76. 40:19

Now give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. There is pregnant sisters. It’s one word in Hebrew. It is yesh. His sole purpose was that to show that there is yesh, a God in Israel.

  77. 40:47

That’s the name of David’s father and a brother in our meeting, which is called Jesse. Jesse means there is, and David came to show who his real father was. Of course, Jesse was his father from Bethlehem, but his real father was in was God in heaven. I’m come here to show that the whole world may know that Jesse that there is a God in Israel.

  78. 41:21

And after he’d killed the giant in verse 54, David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem. Why? Why did he care that massive head head and walked all the way up the the the Valley of Elah and go over Bethlehem and go to Jerusalem and bury that head there. Now let us first come back to him again. What David did, he came to declare the name of his father. Saul didn’t know who he was.

  79. 41:53

He knew who David was, but he didn’t know who David’s father was. He says three times about David’s Luke in verse 56, the king said in choir, Whose son is this tripling of? Verse 55. First he said to Abner. The captain told Abner, Whose son is this youth? The second one said, 56 Whose son is this tripling? Verse 58 Saul said unto him, Whose son art thou, our young man?

  80. 42:24

And David answered, I’m the son of thy servant. There is yes, he the Bethlehemites, but Jonathan understood all David said I’m the son of our servant Jesse. He would have listened to David when he said there is a God in Israel because 1st 18 verse one. It came to pass when he had made an end of speaking to soul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. When they made the end of speaking, what did he say? I am the son of the one who is.

  81. 43:01

And that is why this wonderful friendship started between Jonathan and David. And that skull was brought to Jerusalem. Jerusalem. In that time there was only a Canaanite city where the Melchizedek city was. It was on the eastern hill of Jerusalem. And I believe he would have buried that skull to the north of that city bit north of Mount of Mount Moriah. If you go nowadays to Jerusalem, the perpetual question we were asked by Christian Delph is when we lived there, where’s the tomb of Jesus?

  82. 43:35

Is the Holy Sepulchre or the garden tomb about the Holy Sepulchre? Brandon sisters, this is David. That’s the real skull we need to think about. But outside Jerusalem, at the time of Jesus, there was the temple, and he is the first Law and the second law. There’s a garden gate and you can go inside the Holy Sepulchre. The top of this rock is visible.

  83. 43:54

You can’t even put 3 crosses on it. And they say that’s the place where Christ was crucified. I had to make this drawing against my own ideas for the ESV study Bible. But then there you go. But there’s another place to the north of the Old City near the Damascus Gate and the bus station, and there you can see a mount of formation with a kind of a skull in it.

  84. 44:17

But is that the skull the Bible refers to by the sisters was the significance of a rock face which was cut later after Christ died already that he went to the place called a school. It’s a fulfillment, but it says let’s go to Psalm 110. And that’s what David understood. Goliath was the was the head of the great enemy of Israel who defied the name of the living God of Israel.

  85. 44:44

And then it gets Psalm 110 David understood, he says Yahweh said unto my Master, to my Lord, talking about his seed, the Lord Jesus Christ. He called him Master Adam in Hebrew, sit at my right hand until I make thy enemies thy fruitstool. Let me read that he was going to make a priest in verse 4 after the order of Melchizedek, that in verse five he was strike through kings in the days of his wrath. And in verse six he shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with the dead bodies, he shall wound the head of a great country.

  86. 45:23

It says in the Hebrew, just like Goliath was the head of a great country of the Philistines, the enemy of God, so in the last days there will be a head of all the armies that come against Jesus, and he will just crush them. And the proof of God’s power in crushing the head of the enemy of Israel was taking that skull and burying it in Golgotha.

  87. 45:49

And therefore David overcame the greatest enemy of his saw at his time. But Jesus overcame a much greater enemy, death itself on the place of the skull, the skull of Goliath, which foreshadowed his own burial place. It’s O’Brien. And sisters, the Garden Tomb is closer to my heart, although the tomb which is there was already 700 years old when Christ died and was buried. So that cannot have been the tomb. But at least if you’ve been there as a beautiful, quiet garden, and you can walk around to the benches to sit down and you can open your Bible and read and think about this great event, the power of Gore Gotham.

  88. 46:34

And then Jesus was laid in a new tomb. A new tomb would have looked like this. It would have been only A1 chamber tomb with three benches because the disciples and the women had to bend down. They saw the body lying right in front of them. But that tomb has not been found.

  89. 46:53

Let’s go to John chapter 20 verse 5 and verse 8, because everywhere it says so. Peter who came first to the sepulchre, John 20 verse 5, and he’s stooping down. He had to bend down a low opening. He saw the linen clothes lining, and yet he bent not in. Then comes Simon Peter following him and bent into the sepulchre and seized the linen clothesline and the napkin that was about the head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped to get into place by itself. That meant also the other disciple is John, which came first to the sepulchre and He saw and he believed. What did He see by the sister that made Him believe? I’ll go back to Lazarus in Chapter 11 in John 11 and verse 44.

  90. 47:53

When Jesus raised up Lazarus in verse 44 it says He that was that came forth. He was bound hand and foot with grave clothes and His face was bound about with a napkin and he sent him loose him and let him go. He had to be loosed. He was all tied up hovering over his head. He couldn’t see and he just came mortal out of the grave. And the proof is what John saw because he need to help the angels to take that head cloth off his face so that he could see what to do.

  91. 48:30

Then He could sit up with help the angels take off all the grave clothes, and then only after He had appeared to Mary Magdalene, then He went up. He was close upon His immortality and went up to His Father, and then by the sisters He went up. The disciples sent before Him to Galilee by appeared to them. They would have gone over Betha Barra, and they can imagine that Jesus, if not embodied, then in spirit, He would have again crossed Betha Barra, where He met the disciples and He gave them the Great Commission, and then He went back to Bethany. He went back to Bethany.

  92. 49:06

He looked. 24. It says He led him out as far as to Bethany and lifted up his hands and blessed him. When He had spoken these things while they beheld, He was taken up in the cloud, received them out of their sight. But on the top of the Mount of Olives, right in the sight of the old city, is the Tower of Dissension.

  93. 49:25

People don’t read carefully. Bretton sisters. He didn’t go up to heaven in full view of the city. He went as far as Bethany, who was living in Bethany by the sisters. That’s where his friends lived, Martha and Mary and Lazarus. And I believe that he went to his father from the House of his friends.

  94. 49:53

And that is a wonderful thing. And then the Angel said in next chapter 1 why do they gaze up into heaven? The same Jesus which is taken up from you in heaven. So, so come in like manner as you see him go in heaven. And then they returned unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet. So we need to know those places, brethren, sisters. And I lived for two years in Bethany. I know the place took me about 20 minutes every morning to walk from our house, which is here all the way up the back of the Mount of Olives until you come to the top, you go down to Kilon Valley and here I’ve worked and my wife’s Kathleen as well, and that journey’s printed on my mind because I’ve must have walked it hundreds of times.

  95. 50:35

So Ben insisted we need to prepare ourselves for the return of our Lord because He will come back to the Mount of Olives with Christ. We have walked through the land, the length of it and the breadth of it. We’ve been in Bethlehem and witnessed God’s Providence in having prepared a birthplace for his Son in his own inheritance.

  96. 50:56

We see why God chose Nazareth, that humble village in the north, far away from the distractions of the world, as the best place for the education of His Son. The woman of Samaria gave us hope as Gentiles to be grafted into that natural olive tree of Israel which was predicted by Jacob, and he contemplated the place where Jesus was baptised and better. Bahra reflected on the need to revisit our own baptism time and time again, as the Lord Jesus Christ did when we lie at bed at night, so we have time to think for a quiet moment. We could also be Hebrews if we use the Scriptures in our mind. That was to help the scripture.

  97. 51:38

We can pass through the land on which Yao’s eyes are resting continually. You could think of other journeys in the Bible. The journey of Abraham is think about the journey, the exodus from Egypt, the journey of the messenger in Revelation 2 and three visiting the seven ecclesias in Revelation. We also are on a long journey by the sisters on the pilgrimage to Zion and we should often think, how are we going to get there? By God’s grace, Jeremiah says, let Jerusalem come into your mind.

  98. 52:15

And Jacob spoke about his pilgrimage. He counted every day of his life. He said to Pharaoh, the days of the years of my pilgrimage are 130 years. And David wrote in the sounds that thy statutes have been my sons in the House of my pilgrimage. We are on a journey, brethren, sisters in the Kingdom, If I got grace, we’ll be able to serve and help the Lord Jesus Christ as king and priest.

  99. 52:43

It says in Jeremiah again, in those days and in that time says Yahwah, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping. They shall go and seek Yahwah, the Elohim. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces did a word saying, Come and let us join ourselves to Yahweh in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

  100. 53:08

So even if He can’t physically be in Israel when the sisters or in the surrounding countries, we can take the abundant lessons which Yahweh has embedded in the lands as he which He has searched out for His own children.
