  1. 0:11

This study came about because I’ve done a bit of work over the last few years on trying to piece together to the very best of our ability without, you know, being overly stupid and thinking, oh, we’ve got it all sorted. The, the, the, the bits around what we believe is going to happen when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth.

  2. 0:31

And so I sort of put some, a fair bit of work into that. And then last year when we were doing the readings of the family and reading Judges, I found myself thinking there just seem to be so many connections in the book of Judges pointing to the work of the Lord Jesus in in his ministry on the earth 2000 years ago, but to his second coming. Which I hope is going to be helpful for us in trying to build a picture that helps us understand something of judges, but something also of the time of the end. So I think we’ve got our Bibles open. We all have judges chapter one and the question is asked, let’s just read together verse one again after the death of Joshua. So just note that after the death of Joshua, it came to pass that the children of Israel asked the Lord saying, who shall go up for US against the Canaanites first? Now that’s quite an interesting question that they they begin with who’s going to go up first.

  3. 1:37

And we would suggest that it points to the fact that we’re about to enter a phase in the history of Israel in which there are far too many faithless individuals. Just chief of Archer and just pop back to Deuteronomy. You, you might be able to see the screen. We, we, we realise the screen isn’t as clear as sometimes.

  4. 1:58

We, we managed to get a screen, but it’s the best we’ve got. If anyone wants any notes at the end of the weekend, you can have all of these slides and you can go through them in your time. OK, so you give me your e-mail address and I’ll send them to you on, on Sunday, Sunday evening.

  5. 2:13

But for now, don’t worry if you can see the slide, the slides, don’t worry. We’ll we’ll just make it work together. So come to Deuteronomy chapter 31 and you remember that Moses in his final speech to the children of Israel before he is going to fall asleep, but he won’t enter into the promised land gives them this assurance.

  6. 2:33

He says to them verse two, I am 120 years old this day. I can no more go out and come in. Also the Lord has said to me, you will not go over this Jordan, the Lord thy God, he will go before you. He will destroy the nations from before you and you shall possess them and Joshua, he shall go before you.

  7. 2:55

Verse 8 the Lord he it is that doth go before you. So when they’re asking the question in Judges one verse one who shall go up against the Canaanites first, The answer is the Lord, right? And they should have known that. They should have known that. So I will suggest and you know, listen, I know you guys are all you know, I can see pencils scribbling away, but I’m I’ll make suggestions to you as we go. You don’t have to do it at all, but I can’t help myself. So I’m going to make the suggestion anyway. They can note in verse one of Josh, Deuteronomy 31, verse 3, verse 8, because that is the answer to who will go first. Now, I can see there’s a couple of guys looking a bit relaxed in this room and that’s making stressing me out a bit, but they’re looking a bit too chilled. They haven’t got the pencils in their hands. And I’m gonna have to, I think, probably apologise because I have given these studies before now. I thought it was pretty safe when I gave these studies the other side of the world in Australia, but it so happens that a group of four guys there were in the Bible school I was speaking at, so they’re all looking really chilled and like, yeah, whatever, I got these notes already. I don’t worry.

  8. 4:14

Don’t be put off by that group of people, right? Don’t look at their faces for obvious reasons, but don’t be put off by the fact that they are looking far too chilled. All right, I’m sorry you guys, I’m sorry. But hopefully you can help us this weekend. So who will go first? The answer is the Lord.

  9. 4:31

Now let’s get back into that verse one. So who will go up for us first against the Canaanites to fight against them? The Lord said so, although clearly the answer is the Lord, the Lord answers, well, this is how it’s going to work. Judah shall go up. Behold, I’ve delivered the land into his hand.

  10. 4:53

Now notice what happened. Judah says to Simeon, Judges one, verse three to Simeon his brother, come up with me into my light, that we may fight against the Canaanites. And I likewise would go with thee and thy light. So Simeon went with me and we asked the question, Why is it that Judah, it’s, it’s obvious to us that Judah, we, we, we know, don’t we, The Judah, the tribe of Judah, out of Judah comes the Lord Jesus Christ. We get to revelation.

  11. 5:24

We read of the lion of the tribe of Judah. So we’re not surprised to see Judah go first, as Joshua was in Deuteronomy 31, we were told would go first. So Judah as the tithe of the Lord Jesus Christ, he’s going to go first. But he says, Simeon, you come with me. Why does Judah say to Simeon, you should come with me? Well, to answer that question, you’ve got to do a bit of digging, keep a marker, but come back to numbers. Numbers chapter one.

  12. 6:02

We need to do some maths. Now, I’m a primary school teacher, so I’m brilliant at this sort of thing, right? But you’re going to have to sort of, you know, really work on your maths this morning. So numbers one and I, I want you to go to verse 23 and we read that when the children of Israel went into the wilderness. So numbers one is the beginning of their wilderness journey. How many people are in the tribe of simians or or how many of those numbered in the tribe of simians? Someone call it out for me.

  13. 6:33

59,300 Everyone got that. So if we were rounding that up, be a primary school teacher, what would you get to? Oh, come on, the nearest thousand. Where am I going, 59,300 if we’re rounding you up, I said, Harry, stop messing around. 60,000 Thank you, Phoebe. Right now, keep that in your mind and come to chapter 26, right of numbers. Because when we next see the numbering of the tribes of Israel, you’re going to see that the tribe of Simeon is decimated.

  14. 7:13

So verse 14 of Numbers 26. So someone called out to me, how many have we got in verse 14 of Numbers 2620? Two 1200. Now, JoJo, I know that you’re good at maths. You and me are linked like that, right? And we can both do the Rubik’s Cube in under 3 seconds, can’t we?

  15. 7:33

Yeah, I, I mainly don’t do it, but I let JoJo do it. But we’re both really good at it. OK, so we got 60 odd thousand. We dropped down to 22,000 as a fraction, right As a broad fraction. How much of the tribes have been tribes of Simi have been lost? How much have been lost? Someone shout out again. 2/3 yeah, to a joke. I didn’t say how many were left.

  16. 8:01

I said how many have got lost. Right. He’s relying on you. So 2/3 got lost. Now just remember that no, no, the reason they got lost is actually back in chapter 25. You think because in chapter 25, the Simianites were so foolish in allowing the, the, the women, they got caught up with the, the women of Baio Pure of Moab, the Midianite women there. And as a result, playing into the camp and thousands, 10s of thousands lost their lives.

  17. 8:35

So the Triumph Simian was decimated. Why is that interesting to us? We’re thinking now we know why, Judah says to Simeon, you stick with me. The Simeonites, when they went into the land, they never had a border. The tribe of Simeons sat in the middle of the tribe of Judah. They couldn’t be trusted with having a border in the wilderness.

  18. 9:05

They camped on the South side of the camp, and when the Moabites were excellent, they let the Moabites in the camp. They weren’t allowed a border. Judah says Judges one. You stick with me, Simeon. We know that 2/3 or thereabouts were lost. Come with me to Zechariah Chapter 13. Zechariah 13.

  19. 9:38

At the time of the end, when the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, returns to the earth, there will have been a great and awful destruction in the land. And we’re told in Zechariah 13 and verse eight, it shall come to pass that in all the Lamb, says the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die, but a third will be left.

  20. 10:11

So my suggestion to you is that the Simeonites represent the whole of the House of Israel. What does Simeon mean? I can’t hear you? Thanks. Him. Yeah. You. You should, though. So, so, so the simulates. It’s about hearing, isn’t it? Now, just keep reading the first line. I’ll bring the third part through the fire.

  21. 10:39

I’ll refine them as silver’s, refined them. Try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name and I will hear them. I will say it is my people. And they shall say Yahweh is my God. I will hear them. That’s what the Simonites means. And I suggest that the Simonites represent Israel, who 2/3 are wiped out and destroyed at the time of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. But a third will go in.

  22. 11:09

Why? Because they will listen and hold on to the Lion of the tribe of Judah. So let’s go back to Judges chapter one and let me give you a couple of notes that you might want to put in your margin next to verse three. So you might have in your margin Numbers one. Let me give you a reference.

  23. 11:32

I’ll put it on the screen there. Numbers one, verse 23 or Numbers 26, verse 14 next to Simeon, Numbers 123, Numbers 26, verse 14. You might also want Zechariah 13 verses 8:00 and 9:00. OK, so Simeon is going to stick with Judy. They’re going to go into the land. Now. We’re just trying to sort of glean some lessons here from the beginning of the book of Judges. And we noticed that it began and I asked you to note the phrase in verse one after the death of Joshua after the death of Joshua now Joshua.

  24. 12:15

I could ask my kids and I think they could tell you I LL ask Joshua Daisy at the back Joshua is a type of who go on Jesus yes so after the death of Joshua. We re being given something here as a clue and a type after the death of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  25. 12:39

Now I want to note how important this is that we’re going to see the something required of each person after the death here of Joshua, but in type we’re pointing to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ after the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. What is it that’s so important? Just cast your mind back.

  26. 13:02

Go back to Joshua 4 and you can see in Joshua 24 the last words really of Joshua 24 and just cast your eye down the chapter. You can sort of get to verse 26. Verse 27 you see Joshua speaking to the people. Verse 28. So Joshua let the people depart every man to his inheritance.

  27. 13:36

Now that phrase every man is repeated is now repeated in Judges 2. So just go to Judges 2 and verse 6 where we read that when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man to his inheritance. And then you see, look, verse 8, verse 9, Joshua dies and they bury him. So the final call of Joshua is to say every man to his inheritance after the death of Joshua, every man deserves. Now we’re trying to get this mindset. What is this teaching us that may have some significance to our own lives?

  28. 14:21

Well, when we take the type of Joshua being the Lord Jesus, the death of the Lord Jesus is obviously it’s the most important event ever in the history of the world because he dealt with the problem of sin. Joshua took the children of Israel into the land of Israel. He defeated the Canaanites, but not all the Canaanites are gone. He defeated the Canaanites.

  29. 14:58

He beat them. They were there in the land now, but he now says, and the record says after the death of Joshua, the book of Judges is saying every man to his inheritance. So what does this mean? Well, I’m going to suggest to you and I’ll be interested in your thoughts in the breaks that perhaps what this means is that yes, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ has dealt with the Canaanites, but does that mean that in your life or or in my life, in each of our lives individually that sin is no longer a problem?

  30. 15:43

We all know it’s not. It’s still very much is a problem in our lives, isn’t it? So every man to his inheritance, I’d suggest to you is saying each of us as individuals in our own homes as it were, has got to now deal with the Canaanite. OK, so the death of Joshua, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ is a it’s the most important event ever.

  31. 16:11

He’s dealt with the problem of sin for us, but you now as individuals, every man has got to deal with that problem in their lives. We think of the words of the Lord Jesus. You know you might want to make a note next to Judges 2 verse 6. Every man to his inheritance.

  32. 16:29

First of all make a note of chapter one verse 28, chapter 24 rather verse 28 of Joshua Joshua 2428. It S probably already in the margin. If you VE got a margin circle it or something like that. But another reference to possibly put there is Matthew 1624. You remember the Lord Jesus says, if any man come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. That S the principle I would suggest of every man to his inheritance.

  33. 17:00

You VE got to work out your own salvation with trembling and fear. OK, so just turn a page. Come to the end of Judges chapter 2 where we’re specifically told that Joshua yes, he dealt with the Canaanites, but look at this verse 21. I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died.

  34. 17:42

Why, verse 22, That through them I may prove Israel. Now circle or highlight the word. Prove in verse 22 that they’re there, that I might prove Israel. Verse 23. Therefore the Lord left those nations without driving them out hastily, neither delivered them into the hand of Joshua. Now these are the nations which the Lord let circle to prove Israel down to verse 4. They were to prove Israel’s circle. Well, I have some tea.

  35. 18:25

Thanks, son. These are the nations. These nations were left to prove Israel. And that principle is what applies to our life, the Lord Jesus Christ or the Lord God at the death of the Lord Jesus. Yes, he could have dealt with the problem of sin, which he did, and at that point sin could have been no more on the earth.

  36. 18:55

But he didn’t do that. He’s dealt with the problem of sin, but we’ve got to have faith. Now I didn’t point out to you, but in Zechariah 13 when we read of the 3rd that were refined, how are they described as what metal is refined? Gold it was and silver gold it was and silver. Silver speaks of redemption.

  37. 19:24

Gold one Peter one verse seven speaks of tried faith. Good Daisy tried faith, good job. So gold is tried faith. That’s the refining process that’s got to take place to prove us. So all of us still mess up. All of us this last week have had things in our lives. We thought, why have I made such a mess of that? Why did I say that to that person? Why did I speak in that manner?

  38. 19:56

Why did I go there? There’s not a person in this room that hasn’t struggled with the problem of sin in your life this week. All of us have.

  39. 20:12

But that problem is there to prove us, to test us. The Canaanite is still in our life, but God wants people, us to be refined as gold is trying the fire. He wants to know, are you faithful?

  40. 20:34

He doesn’t need to see, have you got it all sorted? He knows you can’t get it all sorted. He wants to know, are you faithful to believe His word from beginning to end? Are you faithful to trust in it?

  41. 20:56

That’s what He wants to see in US. And that’s why the Canaanites were left in the land. Look verse 23, chapter 20, chapter 2, The Lord left those nations in order to prove us. Now look in verse chapter 3, verse one and two. These the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as have not known all the wars of Canaan, only that the generations of the children of Israel might know to teach them war. So that the nations were left.

  42. 21:35

The problem was left to teach them war. That’s such a great phrase in Scripture that we might be taught war. Now, obviously as boys, I can see a lot of alpha males in this room. Any phrase in Scripture that says to teach war, we just immediately feel thrilled, right? Brilliant. Scripturally, I am allowed to be taught war, right? But obviously this war is against the problem of sin, isn’t it in our lives?

  43. 22:08

A really good reference. I’ll turn there if you like. You make a note or by all means turn there. First Timothy one and verse 18 next to teach them war, First Timothy one verse 18 when the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy,

  44. 22:25

obviously he’s writing under inspiration. I think we’re all comfortable and know that well. And we read in verse 18 that the apostle Paul says to Timothy one, Timothy one. This charge I commit to thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before me, that thou by them mightest war, a good warfare.

  45. 22:49

Holding what? Anyone there? Verse 19 Holding what faith, right? You’ve got to hold to war the good warfare. You’ve got to #1 hold faith that you describe. Sadly, those who fell away, those who didn’t have the faith to believe and trust in the prophecies. Verse 18 which went before young people brothers and sisters, we VE got to war a good warfare. The charge that the apostle Paul gave to Timothy as his son in the faith is the charge given to each one of us. War, the warfare, holding faith.

  46. 23:43

OK come back with me. We VE sort of hopefully built a bit of a picture around the beginning of the children of Israel and the principles being set out for us going as they re in the land and and the age of the judges is about to begin. And brother Josh read for us the 1st 7 verses of Joshua.

  47. 24:06

One where we read in verse four that Judah went up and the Lord delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzite into their hand, and they slew of them in Bezek 10,000 men. And they found Adonai Bezek in Bezek and they fought against him and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites. But Anani Bezek fled and they pursued after him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

  48. 24:40

It’s pretty brutal, isn’t it? You know, we read that. We think, man, we’re about to read, you know, wall of warfare, you know, cut off the thumbs and the great toes it, you know, it is brutal, isn’t it? But first of all, we noticed that that’s exactly what Adonai Bizek had done verse 7 to 70 other kings who were like animals eating under his table.

  49. 25:06

So he understands himself at the end of verse 7 as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there. But we asked the question, well, why is it that this, you know, brutality was allowed to be done by Judah and company in destroying Adonai Bizek before he died? Well, I’m going to make a suggestion to you that you need to go back to Leviticus chapter 14. So keep a marker, but come back to Leviticus 14. Don’t forget that we’re sort of trying to work in a lens about what the judges are teaching us about the work of the Lord Jesus and about the time of the end Judges 14 we read of the law of leprosy.

  50. 26:09

Now the Canaanite represents in Scripture sin. Leprosy represents in Scripture sin. OK, we re all comes with that, aren’t we? The the problem of sin is what’s being dealt with and for leprosy to be dealt with, the problem of sin under the law. Let’s go to Leviticus 14, verse 24 for a bit of connection.

  51. 26:36

The priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the Lord. He shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering. And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering and put it on the tip of the right ear of him that should be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot.

  52. 27:00

So the person that would be cleansed from the problem of leprosy. Leprosy represents sin. Yeah. Has to have the blood of the sacrifice put on their ear, their elope, but also their thumb and their big toe. And I be Zek for everything he had done, who’s obviously the most disgraceful, awful human being. He was not going to be able to be forgiven. Now God will forgive.

  53. 27:40

Anyone he knows will repent. But Adonai Bizik represents who? He’s the king of the Canaanites. He’s the king of the Canaanites. He will not be in the Kingdom. Yes, he realised in Judges one, God has requited me. He knew it was a just punishment. He was not sorry for his actions. He’s the king of the Canaanites.

  54. 28:14

Just go to the end of Zechariah 14, the last verse of Zechariah 14. What do we read? And this is a Kingdom picture in Zechariah 14, who will not be in the Kingdom? There’s only one group of people we’re told will not be in the Kingdom.

  55. 28:33

Go on, shout it out for me. The Canaanite, Adonai Bizik is the king of the Canaanite. And so that’s why I believe that that punishment to him, yes, it was just an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Well, a thumb for a thumb and a great toe for a great toe, right?

  56. 28:54

But actually it’s teaching a more important principle. The Canaanite, the king of the Canaanites, the problem of sin will not be allowed to be in the Kingdom. Let’s go back to Judges and I want us to move to chapter 3, please, where we read in verse seven that the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and forget the Lord their God and serve Balaam and the Groves.

  57. 29:23

Therefore, the anger of the Lord was hot against them, and He sold him to the hand of Cushion Risha fame. King of Mesopotamia and the children of Israel served cushion Risha fame for eight years. Now what we see in verse seven is the cycle of the judges. Most of you will know that cycle very well.

  58. 29:43

Just look at verse seven again. The children of itself did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they forgot the Lord their God and served Bailim and the Groves. Well, this is exactly what we’re told. Just go back to chapter 2 and verse 11. The children of Israel did even inside the Lord, they served Baalum. They forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt.

  59. 30:04

They followed other gods, the gods of the people that were round about them. They bowed themselves to them and they provoked the Lord to anger. They forsook the Lord and they served Baal and Ashtroth and the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. Note that phrase verse 14. The anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. Look in verse 20, chapter 2, verse 20. How does it?

  60. 30:25

What does it say? Thanks Phoebe for joining. In Shame on the rest of you, the anger of the Lord has taught against himself. Verse eight of chapter 3, what we just read it. The anger of the Lord has taught against itself. Do you see this recurring phrase now this phrase, we just see it here at the beginning of Judges.

  61. 30:46

But actually it’s exactly what happens all the way through the book of Judges because what do they do? They forsake the Lord their God and they turn to other gods that Balaam and Ashtaroth. And So what does God do? Verse 14 of chapter two, He delivers them into the hand of spoilers that spoiled them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies roundabout so they could no, not any longer stand before their enemies. So they get sold into the hand of their enemies. And then what happens later on verse 18 of chapter 2, that once they VE cried to God, he saves them by raising up a judge and that is the cycle of the judges.

  62. 31:32

The people. Well, they forget God, they turn to Baalim and Astroth, they turn to the gods of the Canaanites and the like. Then God says. OK, well, if that’s what you want, that’s what you’re gonna have. And he sells them to the to be under one of the awful kings of that time.

  63. 31:51

And their life is miserable. And then after many years they LL cry to God and say oh we VE sinned, we realise we VE completely messed up, we re so sorry. And God says OK, and he sends a judge or a saviour for them. And for a few. Years it S great under that judge. Then that judge dies and they soon forget God and the cycle goes on and the so the whole of the book of the Judge is like a Corkscrew all the way through the book of that cycle. And when you reflect on it, too often it’s the cycle of our own lives, isn’t?

  64. 32:29

It so we’ve got to. Try to make sure that we we’re sort of not on that roller coaster that Corkscrew that’s just permanently just going round on a loop we’ve. Got to try to avoid. That in our lives, I want you to note this phrase. Verse eight of judges three. He sold them. Now in your margin, you’ve probably got next to He sold them, Chapter 2, verse 14, if you haven’t put it there, we just read it.

  65. 32:55

He sold them. We’ll see the significance of this. Now and. And throughout our studies, he sold them. Come first to Isaiah. 50 And I’ll just take you into the New Testament shortly, but come to Isaiah 50. Keep your marker in Isaiah 50. With many years after the book of Judges, the prophet Isaiah is speaking to Israel and the nation as we know at the time of Isaiah.

  66. 33:29

So many of them have. Been wicked so we read towards the end of verse one, behold. So Isaiah 50 towards the end of verse one, behold, for your iniquities have you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away? So yes, it’s God who allows it to happen. God, it says in judges sells them, but really they’ve sold themselves.

  67. 34:00

Do you see? Look, God says. OK, if that’s what you want, that’s what you can have. But it’s because they’ve sold themselves to sin. Now come to Psalm 81. Please just try and build this idea and we go to Romans. So Psalm 81.

  68. 34:31

Verse 10 I am the. Lord, thy God, which brought thee out the land of Egypt, open thy mouth wide. I will fill it, but my people would not hearken to my voice. Israel would. None of me. So I gave them up. To their own. Hearts, lusts, and they walked in their own counsels.

  69. 34:55

Oh, that my people had hearkened to me, and Israel had walked in my ways. I would have subdued their enemies and turned my hand against their adversaries. But they didn’t. They would not hearken to my voice, verse 11. Israel would none of me, verse 12. So I gave them up. To their own. Heart’s lusts.

  70. 35:24

This is the principle of Judges 3, verse eight. God sold them. He gave them up to their own heart’s lusts. Now I’m going to make a suggestion to you in verse 12. There you might want to put Judges 3 verse 8. Another really helpful reference put there is Romans 124 to 26. Romans 124 to 26.

  71. 35:49

Some of you may have it there already. It’s actually already in my margin, so I was just able to circle it. Romans 124 to 26. He gave them up. It says, isn’t it in the Psalm To their own hearts lust. Will you come to Romans 1 before we go back to Judges? Come with me to Romans 1.

  72. 36:20

So verse 20. Four, we read or we will read now, verse 24, wherefore God also gave them up. To uncleanness through the. Lust of their own hearts that is Psalm 81 and verse 12. He gave them up to their own hearts lust. Why? Because they changed verse 25, the truth of God into a lie.

  73. 36:50

They worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator. It’s an age-old problem. How much are we prepared? To put our faith in the Creator. Not the creature, young people, it’s. One of the major challenges of our age. How much are you prepared to hold the faith in believing in the Creator, not the creature?

  74. 37:20

The very fact you’re here says an awful lot about you. Verse 26 of. Romans one for this ’cause God gave them up. Verse 28. Even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient in the end, God says.

  75. 37:46

I will give you. What the desire of your heart is. So come back to judges. Three. And as you turn back there, ask yourself, there’s no point looking at this, isn’t it? If we don’t sort of try to spiritually challenge ourselves this weekend, ask yourself what is the number one desire of your heart if. It is.

  76. 38:17

To be in the Kingdom. You will be. In the Kingdom, you will be there because you’ve got the faith to hold on to the truth. You’re going to mess up on the way. Don’t worry about that.

  77. 38:32

But if the number. One desire of your heart is to be in the Kingdom. God will get you there, but if. As a desire. It’s a bit further down the list. I, I, I, I, I do really, really want the Kingdom, but I got a lot on my plate at the moment. You know, if you could see what I’ve got on at the moment in terms of college work right now, you would realise that it’s actually pretty reasonable for me not to be at Bible class or the lecture or, or or occasionally actually missing on a Sunday morning. You would.

  78. 39:07

You would realise that because I’ve got a lot on my plate. If, if you had my job at the moment, trust me, you would see that actually the pressure I’m under, you would. Accept. That, you know, yeah. For Pete, he’s got a lot on, you know, it’s OK.

  79. 39:29

It’s just not the number. One desire of my life. If it is, it’s manifesting. Out your actions, you make the effort, you get there. You seek first the Kingdom of God, knowing everything else will get sorted out anyway.

  80. 39:52

What is your heart’s? Desire. Back in Judges chapter 3, he sold them to the. Hand of Kush and Richa Thain. Kush and Richa Thain make a note. Double wickedness. That’s what that name means. Double wickedness. And they’re descended from the the the people of Ham. You. Might remember that Kush was the brother of Canaan. So from Ham came Kush also.

  81. 40:24

He had four sons, Kush, Canaan and the likes of Nimrod. And we suggest that the, the, the, the people of Kush, the, the, the, that idea of Nimrod, we won’t go there, but time’s moving way too quickly. You can go there in a break back to Genesis chapter 10 to see those lines clearly set out for us. But from that system comes Babylon and all that Babylon represents.

  82. 40:59

You think Genesis 10 leads to Genesis 11 and the Tower of Babel? The system of. Babylon cushion Rishathane, king of Mesopotamia. Of course, we know, don’t we, that Babylon was in the region of Mesopotamia. So there’s this Babylonian king, as it were, who the people are sold to. It’s a type, isn’t it? Right at the beginning of their time in Israel, where do they end up being sold to?

  83. 41:28

Who’s the last lot they get sold to? At the end of the Old Testament, they’re sold to the Babylonians. They were shown right at. The beginning if you don’t have faith and trust in me, you’ll get given to the Babylonians. This is what happens here in Judges chapter 3. And I just want to make a note of Revelation 18 next to this idea of double wickedness. We won’t turn there.

  84. 41:55

Time’s gone. When the Babylonian. System is judged. So here’s the reference for you. Revelation 18, verses 5 and six. We’re told her sins reached to heaven just like the Tower of Babel did. Her sins reached to heaven. God has remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she’s rewarded with you, and double unto her.

  85. 42:18

Double according to her works. What are her works? Her works are double wickedness. So when that system is judged at the time of the end Book of Revelation shows us she will be judged double because her works were double wickedness. Now just nearly the final slide, this slide we LL have one more, but just as a quickie verse 9, when the children of Israel cried to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer.

  86. 42:54

Has anyone a different word for the word deliverer? Verse 9 the. Lord raised up a deliverer. Judges 3 verse nine. Anyone got anything different? Saviour. Thank you, Saviour. That obviously is a key principle because each of the judges, yes, they’re a deliverer, they are a saviour. They point to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  87. 43:19

So this Saviour is Offniel, the son of Kinas, Caleb’s younger brother. Now Offniel. If you look it up. There are two definitions, and it seems to be impossible, certainly for someone like me who doesn’t speak Hebrew, to work out exactly which of these definitions it is. Some will tell you Offniel means God is my strength. Some will say it means Lion of God. Either way, the lion show strength, doesn’t it? The Lion of the tribe of off nearly from the tribe of Judah. That was the tribe that Caleb was put into to the tribe of Judah.

  88. 44:01

So the Lion of the tribe of Judah is going to be sent to deal with. Cushion Rishathane. Double wickedness. It points, doesn’t it, to the work of the Lord Jesus, the one who’s going to come and deal with the Babylonian system and save Israel. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him. He judged Israel and went out to war.

  89. 44:27

And the Lord delivered Kush and Rishathem, king of Mesopotamia, into his hand, and his hand prevailed against Kush and Rishathem, and the land have rest 40 years. Now that time period is of major significance, I want to note this. We’re not going. To look into it just. Yet we will do shortly. Just flip the page Judges 5. Go to the end of Judges 5.

  90. 44:57

How long did the land have rest for? Someone. Shouted out for me 40 years. Judges 8. Go to the end verse 28. I appreciate that you could say come on Pete, you can just tell us. It S so obvious. Verse 28 the end of the verse The Hebrew S just the same go on Harry sorry 40 years. Thank you.

  91. 45:25

The country was in quietness. Some other versions will say the land had rest. It S the same Hebrew. The land had rest 40 years. That 40 year period is of major significance. Now, any of you that S have given that any thought before, come and have a chat with me. We will tease it out in our studies, God willing, later on today, but I’m going to stop us there.

  92. 45:51

I just want us to take some THMS. What are THMS? Take her message. What are? Take her message so #1 in your life you’ve got to get refined as gold is refined. God does not ask of you to get it sorted. He asks you to have faith. But he has got it sorted for us.

  93. 46:21

Have faith and. If we do that. Then we will be given the blessing of those Simonites that held on to the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Hold on, we live in the last days, we re sure of it. Hold on to the. Lion of the Tribe of Judah, be careful what you wish for. God will give you the desire of your heart. My mum used to say to John and I when we were younger and perhaps just a little bit more naughty, not much more, but a little bit more.

  94. 46:56

She used to say to us, you know, listen, be careful what you wish for, God will give you in the end. What if your heart and your head is always focused on, frankly, the wrong things? Well, that’s what you’ll get, but the end thereof is the grave. Be careful what you wish. For God will give you your heart’s desire. Work out your own.

  95. 47:24

Salvation with trembling and fear every man to his inheritance. All of us have got. To war the warfare, yes, we do it as a collective, we support and we help each other. But in the end, salvation is an individual matter. You can’t save someone else and they can’t save you. You have got to make.

  96. 47:45

Sure that in your life? You get your faith. Right. And make sure that you keep on warring the warfare. That warring the warfare isn’t simply about dealing with the problem of sin in the world and telling everyone else what we think that they’re doing wrong. In fact, above. All it’s about conquering it to the best of our ability. In US.

  97. 48:13

It’s been conquered by the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have faith in that and war the warfare, you will share that victory.
