My dear, Reverend Christoph and John Cigle, it's a very long night that I can assure you is hollowing the state of the down, especially if you've got a means in the name of Saul. We've stayed at the state of the down, Reverend Christoph and John Cigle, in the midst of 400 men. And it wasn't long, as a matter of fact, in the very next incident that he was taught in his body's life, that he had 600 men.
- 0:30
And this was some indication of the growing power of David in the down, who was in exile, and also the weakening of Saul's sin. And this pattern was going to continue to be in pieces of young people, until Saul fell upon the ones who took power, and started to spread to the throne.
- 0:50
And it also was this patternless that was to continue, and all his trials and civilizations that didn't appear to David, not all the time at least, it didn't appear to him, except as the faith. And look one minute stage in his life, when he was there to be a continual. And a moment of weakness had almost given up the soul.
- 1:16
And there was a moment, he was in the hole of the garden. The hole of the garden, Reverend Christoph, was now in the book. But they were here, in the region of the Shepela, the lowlands of the hills. There happened to be in hills down at the center of the land. You know, the Shepela, a bird with streams of lowlands.
- 1:37
The hills were coming to about 1,500 feet above sea level, and then spinning out onto the flames, and running out of the shores of Mediterranean. And David was at the table of the garden, in the hill of the Shepela. And God didn't like that. It's evident that God didn't like that, Reverend Christoph, and one said, well, why did he like it?
- 1:58
Because it was too easy for David, in moments of trial and civilization, to take the easy road down to the land of the Philistines. And you know, it's a remarkable fact, a geographical fact, that up in the hills of Shepela, which are something like 3,000 feet above sea level, you have narrow, tortuous tracks, leaning ever upwards to the city of the hills.
- 2:23
The rest of them being one of them. But as you run downhill, from Shepela to the plain of the Philistines, so you're going down and down, and still one of the fertile plains, which the Philistines occupied. And God didn't like that. And God didn't like that. And in the first of Samuel, chapter 22, David had the news.
- 2:56
In the first of Samuel, chapter 22, verse 5, And the prophet, Gad, said unto David, About cutting the holes, depart and dip in the land of Judah. Then David departed and came to the forest of Harod. He departed the word of Gad, and he came to the forest of Harod, which was something like six miles south, southeast of Adolam, and moved thrown towards the hills of Judah.
- 3:34
Now it's interesting, but he said, The one thing that the poor people say, you wonder why, the king here, as he was called in three other places in the record, why Gad was just there, and by the word of Yahweh, to move into the hills of Judah. According to the flesh, that was foolish advice.
- 3:55
Because what Gad was doing, was instructing him to go right into the shadow of Gad. And David was much safer, humanly speaking, in the cave of the Judah, where he not only had better children, but if necessary, he could escape quickly down the Shephelum, and leave himself into the land of the enemy.
- 4:16
Which he did, ultimately. And God was not well pleased with that. But at the moment, Gad gave the fear, instructing him to go into the hills of Judah. And do you think that we are imagining that truthful cynical, that God was instructing him to go there, because humanly speaking, that the people were better?
- 4:36
Well, they're not. Because in the next chapter, in the 23rd chapter of the 1st of Samuel, the 600 men who gave a vow of it with him, say in verse 3, and David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah, thought they were, because they were right under the shadow of Saul.
- 4:58
Not only Saul, look at this, Saul, at this moment of time, north of Jerusalem, at a place called Syria. Where Saul was, the hills were higher, and closer to the desert, and protection was easier. But as the Judean hills fall away, in the negrids, in the upper desert areas, straightening area around Hebron, and all the way down near the Ezekiel, opens right out, the hills slurring out, it's on his platter, and a very open country, except for a few places, near the spooks of the dead dead.
- 5:31
So that David was desperately told my dad, to get out of the anton, and his 400, 600 men said, Oh, look, we don't like this. It is no good. And that was just a young people, there was a principal here, and David had to recognize it. But he did recognize it. He recognized it for a while, he put up on it for a while, but he ultimately gave in, and left that place, and then the water sought to travel.
- 5:58
Now that then was the principal, involving the evening, even though he was black David. Dad, by the way, was a very faithful man. He appears in the record, not very much, but he is there always, and every time his hand comes up, he figures very prominently, in advice that he gives David, and it was always good advice.
- 6:20
On one occasion, it was a heavy rebuke, but nonetheless, found advice. He was a man to be trusted, and even though at this stage, his words didn't seem to have power in it, there was a principal involved, and what was the principal? Look, as long as David was in this area, at Vib, at Quilus, at Maon, at Ngedei, at Hakala, at Jedramon, as long as he stayed in that high, little circle, all the time he was there, he was a man of, cut him out, tied and sink, escaping by the skin of his feet, as high in the ground, saw him cut him up this way, and he peed away from him, saw him coming up this way, and peed away from him again, and there was cut him out, tied and sink, all the time in that area, and David had a moment left, in the hills of Judea, but the importance of him, whether he did, is that he did escape, and that all that mattered, and there was a wonderful object lesson for David, here was an area which was within the compass of the land, due to which belonged more particularly to David, the inheritance of Yahweh, as he called it, and yet, while he was in that atmosphere, confined geographically, within a very tight circle, who was escaping by the skin of his feet, but escaping he was, and that's the principle, that God wanted to see, who hardly be afraid of him as Judah, said the 400 men, and there's no need to be afraid, so long, as they took their trust in God, and in the wilderness of Judah,
- 7:53
where they were, that's all they could do, is to put their trust in God, and that's the principle for us, clearly is, clearly is the wilderness of Judah, the accrual of God, and what is your experience, in the ecclesia of God, there's no existence, it is an easy existence, in the knowledge of the truth, but it's in the truth, a member of the cover work of Israel, and a brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of the Son, the third individual, and it's a matter, of no sight, in the ecclesia of God, tribulation, trouble, anger, problems, witnessing, clarity, things of the very edge, of nervous destruction, and if we had our way, we would set up our hold, an edge rock,
- 8:44
an edge rock, I would set up my hold, but it's no good, and within the confines, of the serpent, we move, you might say, well this is the safest place, we have made the companionship, of our virgin sisters, and thank God we do, David had companionship too, and with that companionship, comes problems, all of us, and Father Robert said, I'm having those, but a bundle of professionals, and in our, dealing, bond with each other, very often, we move, start of a great thing, to the truth, and the crazy old life, at times, gentlemen, can be very, very trying, you see, that God says, to prophets like Gad, get into the land of Judah, and stay there, and escape we will, so ultimately, we will be drawn, to the kingdom of God, as David was, and Saul did no longer touch him, but that was the truth, that he was alive, he was, he was David, moving around this area here, in a very tight circle, sometimes coming back, to the very place, that he left, and we're going to see later on, that he became so familiar, with his territory, that he could do, he could do more things, later, than he wouldn't do, normally, first of all, he'd find it difficult, in this area, then he became a judge, and became familiar, with the terrain, he was able to, almost, do what Saul, what Saul was doing to him, and if David had, seen that happen, he would have stayed, in the wilderness of Judah, but he just, by all he was able to do, he just spared, and he left her, but, you see,
- 10:17
Jesus, this was not only, did God invite him, into this situation, but, he put him there, not merely to be protected, by the one problem, and to learn this person, but he was told, to help his very, and sisters, to love his enemies, to do good, when he was done evil to him, not to render evil, for evil, but good, and whilst, he was in the wilderness, of Judah, he exercised, tremendous influence, over the people, in that area, and although, at the moment, they didn't appreciate that, and showed, those dice, he was in gratitude, ultimately, the thief, with Judah, down in this area, was the very thing, that he introduced, into the throne, because he was in this area, that he died, where he was readily accepted, by the people, who remember that law, for goodness, that he brought to them, in this particular area, and I tell him, this is his accusative, accusative from Saul, hiding and hunted, by his treasure, and what was he doing, he was a wildfire, around the Ecclesia, protecting it, from his enemies, and also, he's tipping away, from Saul, and running, yet in effect, he's the greatest defense, of Israel's God, and we see it, coming out of the circle, so powerful, how did God, directly, him with his wife, and how can we do the same, very often, with him alone, and shoot us on, still a line about it, two words, doesn't he choose it, and tell him, the attributes, of a true shepherd, but even with the sheep, they're not a physio, the work of the truth, that he's done, on their behalf, never mind,
- 11:52
remember this, that this is the avenue, of work, and very work, faithfully, as long as we've given, that task to this, and David, had a very bitter effort, of faith in gratitude, when he reckoned, to live in the city, of Keilah, the city of Keilah, and in the first, of Samuel 23, we find out, what was happening here,
- 12:18
there's one, when they told David, saying, behold the Philistines, fight against Keilah, and they robbed, the threshing floor, and so in the springtime, and they're in the process, of threshing, and the men of Keilah, of course, getting out in the open, and threshing their ground, and the Philistines, the opportunists, waiting for the opportunity, yes, the Philistines, and Israel, free feed, waiting for the people, to press their ground, and in that foot, and take the boundary, and this is what they were suffering, in the wilderness of Judah, until David's touch, and now then, he thinks to himself, to require a general, shall I go and smite these Philistines, I wonder what we would have said, brethren, and sisters, young people, third and right, third and right, there is a judgment of God, upon the children, we knew it was coming for years, not David, he was different, than you and I, he was the man, after God's own heart, I wonder what they were, to go and smite the Philistines, that was the only doubt, that he had, whether he could go, and smite the Philistines, it was never ending, in his mind, he would let the men of Kila, and suffer, and he would try to go up, and the answer was, yes, say, say, Kila, and then the 400, come to him, he said, listen, what are you doing, this is crazy, he was absolutely mad, we think, why did that, out in the open, why I don't know, the table of the volume, was excellent, he would have fled down the place, to the land of the Philistines, and the first thing, you should feel,
- 13:57
they would have never found it, now we're out in the open, and you, you were to go up to Kila, oh, this man, and you know, that this is the same, powerful, these men, but the record says, that David inquired of Yahweh, yet again, you see, he wanted the man, to press his opinions, about it, even when, he knew he was right, he had already, had an answer with Yahweh, there is such 600 angry men, before him, but he doesn't fight them, and say, listen, I think he's told, that you got longer, and you're on business, he goes back to Yahweh, on very behalf, and inquires of God, and he calls the same thing, go to the men of Philistines,
- 14:40
and so David prepares the ground, and once he prepares the ground, and he's sitting in the city of Philistines, a man comes running into the camp, with a piece of material, waving in the bridge, right into the camp, with a piece of material, waving in the bridge, from the past, when Aborah, the son of the Hibolet, fled to David, from Kedah, that he came down, with an ephod in his hand, and there, running into the camp, of David, brethren and sisters, was the same to it, for he had the ephod in his hand, David had already inquired of Yahweh, by what methods, and do not know, but as if Yohar, was going to bolster David's confidence, and courage of his state, having had heavy pressure, from 600 men, having to ask twice, about this matter, running into the camp, and to Baragah, the only one, who would escape, from the slaughter of David, of the priest, he was the son of the Himalus, the priest of Israel, and in his hand, waving in the knees, with the ephod, what a tremendous, fool that would have been to David, for he had a little cross, little piece of cross, they had one, blowing into it, with the tolerance of fire, and it was meat, rather than Christmas, the priest of Israel, on the breast of the high priest, the whole tabernacle, that in miniature, there was a tabernacle, walking around Israel, and now it was with David, and this is a pattern of things, and coming out of Saul, the lifeblood of the nation, blown out of that dead body, so it was life to David,
- 16:10
and up they went, to the men of Peter, and now David inquires, again and again, again through the ephod, and he had an excellent, an excellent communication, with Gawah, as the ephod was now with him, and in verse 9, he says, and David knew that Saul, secretly practiced, mystic against him, and he said to the Bible, as a priest, bring together, the ephod, in verse 12, it was with David, deliver me and my men, to the hand of Saul, and Yahweh says, I will,
- 16:50
I will, that's exactly, the position of flesh, there doesn't interest it, is the confidence, which is a fighting man, he's got songs of love, he's out there, threatening his weight, there's four, six hundred men, prepared to come, right out in the open, to protect you, they're all being hunted, like fleas, as David himself says, they're already risking, their lives, they get out of the open, and they go, into the city of Kila, and having one of the, all the six hundred, to get in there, and Yahweh said, they'll shut you up, as the living, he's shut up the gate, and all the men of Kila, were praying for, while they saw, the Philistines, put the flight, their corn fed back to them, they're waiting for, all the men of the, inside the city, and at a given signal, they're going to shut it up, in the city, and drop Saul down, there's a lesson, of faith in Gattachy, and that would have, hurt David's heavenly Christians, because, a much lesser man, than himself, got far more, with sex, and grateful faith, than he did, for a similar action, when Saul, first came to the throne, Nahash the Anonite, a man whose name, means the servant, encouples the city, of Jabez Gilead, and Saul gathered, all Israel together, he shone out, brilliantly at the side, marched across, into the Jordan, and up the plain, and he delivered, the men of Jabez Gilead, and they never forgot, and then the king, who weakened, from Saul's insanity, and gripped him, and David said, and then you did, and come to him, they were named, never before, from the Bible,
- 18:29
they said, they read the best, he got his folly, off the wall, of the city, they got the bones, of his son, burned them, and buried their bones, and redeemed the place, where they were buried, I read the man, and David, got the gratitude, of those people, and he was the men, of Sinai, waiting for them, all the good, inside the city, to lock the gate,
- 18:49
and there's a lesson, of those in jealousy, if God wasn't, concerned, with the action, of the men of the king, he was watching, clearly, the reaction, of a man called David, and this, further and further, of the young people, is something, we want to keep in mind,
- 19:08
David hadn't, completely learned, that lesson, he was certainly, taught us, and we're going to, learn about that tonight, and he was taught, magnificently, by a woman,
- 19:22
so I wasn't, concerned, with the action, of the men of the king, but they can handle, that situation, the one that God, died here upon, which is, but nevertheless, it was David, with how, he reacted, that, and that's where, you and I, come into this picture, never mind, about the, both, and that, and that, and that, very often, showed up,
- 19:44
with a mind, about that, with a mind, about the people, who practice that, watch what, you do, in return, and go, and depart, and look up, them, those, 600 years, you could have, pulled that city apart, brick by brick, and scuttered, them in a field, and banded, and be a shiver, men like, Jehovah, and Abishai, and a few others, they were quite boys, believe me, they could have, crushed that city, and they wouldn't, tell it, because they left, the flock, the 600 men, and raised, and becoming, out of, out of Shiloh, and they, they fought, and they, they went to the region, of Drip, which was about, seven miles, below Nebron, I think it was, the south east, of Kina, and in the region, of Drip, they went, a verse, between, free flowing, and they came, in the region, of Drip, expecting, I suppose, that, perhaps, those five people, were a little more friendly, first night in, when you came up, the Ritrides, to Saul, the idiot, saying, does not David, hide himself without, in Stronghold, in the woods, in the hill, of Hakala, which is on the south, of Jehemon, here, the patrols, of the sisters, that had circulated, to bring, out of him, so quick, they went, to take this together, and say, listen, David's party, with us, they gave, absolutely, detailed instructions, as the way, to find him, that, where they are, she's with us, in the Stronghold, in the wood, in the hill, of Hakala, on the south side, of Jehemon, we know where he is, men of Judah, were saying this, and the very, come, gentlemen, this woman, I'm talking about,
- 21:34
Abigail, I'm going to show you, an attitude of mine, that won't just, holden to that, and she was, following David's step, they said, they said, all the time, she knew, she knew all, what he was doing, she knew all, the circumstances, of his life, and that, more, that, more, you will see, in the moon, she knew, how David was reacting, to those circumstances, and she was anxious, that David's reaction, might sometimes, be out of control, a woman, was doing that, and she was married, to one of the greatest, rottles, we've ever lived, but he was, as it was, what he is, 10, 20 years position, and going up, the storm, was his incredible, and in the 54th Psalm, David records, his reaction to that,
- 22:20
this is thrilling, wouldn't it, Psalm 54, it was written, on the occasion, when the Zipites, betrayed him, save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me, by thy spirit, hear my prayer, O God, give me any of the words, of my mouth, for strangers, are risen up, against me, and oppressors, speak after my soul, they have not, set God before, them, behold God, is mine, help them, and Yahweh, is his friend, that uphold my soul, he shall, award evil unto mine, and we chuck them up, in their feet, I will freely, sacrifice unto thee, I will praise, thy name, O Yahweh, for it is good, for he has delivered me, out of all trouble, and mine eye, has seen his desire, upon mine enemies, what a wonderful attitude, of mine, brethren, and sisters, I will freely, sacrifice unto Yahweh, I will praise, Yahweh, for he is good, what for, he has been betrayed, for half a meeting, they've gone up, and pinpointed his division, they've watched him, like a horse, and he says, I will praise, people, you're good to me, this was his attitude, if God was good to him, because they never told him, and he knew, that God had, in his mind, a ripoff, the time of trouble, and they were, they were just, the war, but that didn't matter, all David had to do, was to praise Yahweh, for his goodness, in delivering information, to the people, and that was an attitude, of mine, that he always, was opposite, and coming back, to the first of Daniel 23, I want you to know, Saul's reaction, to the message, of his lip-on,
- 24:03
remember how Saul, was slipping, brethren and sisters, remember he's slipping, into his, hadget selfishness, now have a look, at the selfishness, of the bit, verse 21, blessed be ye, of Yahweh, for ye have compassion, on thee,
- 24:25
good gracious man, have you ever heard, of the master, his silent voice, of the opinion, of the psalm, I will praise Yahweh, for his goodness, and Saul, up his face, blessed be ye, of Yahweh, for ye have compassion, on me, have you ever heard, and he goes on, and says, go now, I pray you, prepare, and yet, and go, and see his place, where his horse is, that's given him, fairly good direction, goodness me, he was with them, and the strongholds, in the works, who was by the hill, of Hackelah, with his self, and the wilderness, of pleasure, mine, the brave God, opens up, with a bit of flattery, and says, now look, what I would like, of course, is for you, who's actually, getting trapped in, and I'll give you, my word, he says, I will search him out, search him out, now look at the attitude, of mine, of that man, now you take it, for instance, verses, why couldn't, there's this, I'd see that, please, get him out there, at Gideon, self-satacrime, but he's got, Sir David on the run, he's got him, a matter of time, to why I'm flooding out, talking about, compassion on him, compassion, compassion, what did he know, about compassion, and talking about, going, let them go, and do the fairly work, he's got, right up, and I'll give you, my word, I will search him out, through all the thousands, of people, it wasn't that a grave, please, and the Zippites, couldn't see through that, they couldn't see through that, brethren and sisters, and then they came, to do exactly, what Saul had said, but they didn't find him,
- 26:08
they didn't find him, and thank God, they didn't find him, and so as they came down, then to search for David, he once again, escaped out of their hands, and we read in verse 53, Saul also, and his head, went to the sea, and they told David, wherefore, he came down, with a rock, and a slave, in the wilderness, of my arm, and when Saul heard that, he pursued David, in the wilderness, of my arm, so that David, once again, slips out of the pot, from the soul, and he goes down, to the wilderness, of my arm, no witness, this is, it's remarkable, before he went down, to the wilderness, of my arm, when the Ziphoi, had drawn up to, Saul, where he was, to give him, the exact position, where he was, and before he moved, away from that position, as Saul, and his men, came down, to find him, Saul, sent the Ziphoi, to head of him, to pin, from his position, so that he might, know where he was, so that he could, trap him, so that there was, a man in Saul's kingdom, who knew exactly, where David was, and he went down there, and beat his father to it, and that man, was Jonathan, and in this extremity, of his position, when he was, betrayed by, strangers, he calls it, in Psalm 54, betrayed by, strangers, and strangers, they were, David, they were his brethren, they were his, they were strangers, he did a wooden ship, come striding, this wonderful, open heart, and big, enormous man, Jonathan, a lovely fellow, Reverend, and this is, where the, the word of God,
- 27:44
this is, he bubbles over, I believe, with great encouragement, to those, who walk in the way, of truth, and who've got him, typically, and who've got all around us, lovely people, and safe jobs, that we've had, people who see, an ideal, for the ideal's sake, and who are prepared, to seek church, people who are not, don't love you, on the basis of, personally, or anything else, they love you, for the true sake, and into the woods, of this, King Jonathan, people, don't worry about that, he'll never find you, he'll never find you, David, I've got confidence, he'll never find you, and you're going to be true, and I'm going to be next to you, and they were great, fierce, in that world, and Jonathan left it, never saw him again, brave Jonathan, loyal Jonathan, loyal to his father, and the other government, sisters, I feel it's a tremendous, contrast, that David had with him, 600 men, who say, no, of that kingdom, because they were, bitterly, sorrow against all, and yet, David never had, amongst those men, nor collectively, did he have, the loyalty, that Jonathan gave him, who stayed with him, and David knew that, that's loyalty, brethren, sisters, loyalty to the truth, how we react, 600 people, around now, footstool, searching for fear, of rage, against our enemies, exalting us, to encourage us, to go forth, and to slay, the enemies of Saul, and perhaps, speaking in business, about Jonathan, who didn't have, this summer, to come out, and stand for his conviction, that David, just missed all that, as far as David, would concern, those sisters, the most loyal man, of all,
- 29:34
was back in the, care of Saul, that was Jonathan, he would go to cross, down his quickly, and pointed his hand, in God, the rest of his, so when David, slipped away, from that area, he went, I believe, greatly, preaching, the things of God, not realizing, that he would never, see that, wonderful character, again, never seen, a guy, until the kingdom, from that love, to see the truth, and with him, he is, and so, he would go, and go, and send it, and so, look at the wilderness, of the Mayan, they came, the word Mayan, means, habitation, and it was one of those regions, I've got a bit wrong here, where there was a, a mine of hills and valleys, all toxic, and wild confusion, it was, a very small region, but it was an excellent region, for the Christians, for hiding, but it also, had it changing, because, it was so wild, it entangled, the valleys, from the hills, so whilst, it was easy to hide, it was also easy, very inadvertently, to run into someone, coming around the next corner, and then they were, hunting each other, in this region, David was in, constant danger, so that in, he turned around, he could be, face to face, and saw, and saw, came down, with 3,000 men, he had 3,000, in his standing army, 3,000, he had in his standing army, he must have much more, many more men, in his army, but he had 3,000, that he kept, at the ready, at all times, and he moved, a whole lot of them, in that region, and there's, 3,000 fellows, walking around, that area,
- 31:13
and there's, 600 of David, so there's, 3,600 of David, jogging and twisting, in this very, very confined area, which was a maze, of hills and valleys, and David, was in best reply, in the wilderness, of my own, until finally, in this jigsaw puzzle, in this maze, that so happened, in verse 25, that Saul went on, this side of the mountain, and David and his men, on that side of the mountain, and David made haste, to get away, for fear of Saul, for Saul, and his men, comforted David, and his men, round about, to take us, and so it came, brethren, and so it was, that they came, either side of the mountain, and in his haste, he sent away, Saul, he's hammered, and he's got it, he's got him at last, socked up, in the wilderness of Mariah, on a matter of time, now it's all over, and David knew that, and all of a sudden, somebody comes, right through, the chair of Saul, the chair of Saul, the chair of Saul, yeah, the chair of Saul, but the chair of Saul, you didn't do that, and Saul goes, I've not, without the filibuster, and David's left, in the room, of the man, on his hand, and he told the place, Selah, Hamalakos, verse 28, Selah, Hamalakos, the rock of division, or as it's more correctly, understood, from the Hebrews, the rock of slipping away, and there, doesn't insist, he slipped away, out of the hand of Saul, and in the 31st Psalm, these words, developing with him, on the basis, of the series, was like that, living in Psalm 31,
- 33:06
reading from verses 1-5, in Psalm 31, verses 1-5, let me never be ashamed, deliver me, in thy righteousness, bow down, by near to me, deliver me sweetly, be thou my strong rock, for an health, and defense, with saving, for thou art my rock, and my fortress, therefore, for thy name's sake, lead me, and guide me, pull me out of the net, that thou have made, similarly for me, for thou art my strength, into thine hand, I commit my spirit, thou hast redeemed me, O Yahweh, isle of truth, what are those words, brethren and sisters, for thou art my rock, my fortress, and he was in the rock, of my arms, a habitation, and there is a habitation, of justice, the mighty God of Israel, and upon that rock, he was, when the men had come, to see the dark, and what did he say, into thine hand, I commend my spirit, there was another man, caught, says an insistence, caught, he didn't never get out, of a trap, and he was on a truck, or on a stake, and that caught him, and they were all around him, he had no hope, with escape, and he said, through the right hand, I commend my spirit,
- 34:32
he had no hope, with escape, and Hebrew says, that God, gave him, out of death, and that's exactly, what God did for David, and Saul never came, as close as that, before or after, it was the closest shame, of David's life, and God took him, right out of it, and he came, those words, into thy hands, I commend my spirit, what else could he do, what else could he do, and he was, he was gone, and there the Lord, Jesus Christ, the greatest son of David, surrounded by his enemies, in power, upon the state, no hope of escape, what could he do, what could he do, nothing else, but what the psalm has said, well, in thy hands, I commend my spirit, for what a drug did, and threw him out of death, and that's, very, for the truth, I believe, there's a psalm, that's incredibly written, on the child, and trust this fact, what a wonderful thing, then, in the life, of the Lord, Jesus Christ, he should meditate, like we're doing, upon the life of God, and seeing the same things, that came across him, you know, in the 63rd psalm, while we were down, another psalm, that's written, at this time, this is in psalm 63,
- 35:54
in the 63rd psalm, in verses 1 and 2, we read, for example, on the top of the psalm, that it was when David, was in the wilderness, of Judah, and he says, O God, my God, early will I seek thee, my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, in a dying, thirsty land, where no water is, to see thy power, and thy glory, so as I have seen thee, in thy sanctuary, then in verses 6 and 7, when I remember thee, upon my bed, and meditate upon thee, in the night watchers, because thou hast been, be my help, therefore in the shadow, of thy wings, will I rejoice, you know, when you read things like that, you want to get old, that psalm, and get to the surah, you want to read that, that he was in the wilderness, of Judah, and there he was, in a dry, harsh land, and you can imagine, on the night watchers, from the Aram in the sleep, and the stillness, of the virginia night, it was free, because the dressing floors, were being lost, and in the season, of the Passover, when all Israel, were fighting under the shadow, of divine protection, or they should have been, from then, in the great deliverance, of Egypt, there was a lonely man, a dry and thirsty land, and his heart, was just going out of him, towards the city of Jerusalem, and whilst those 600 slept, he was meditating, with his hot watches, treating them and sisters, of the wonders, of the power of God, of the manifest, in that land, you can't appreciate, his feelings, on those occasions,
- 37:23
in such circumstances, and yet, no one of the feelings, that was ingenious, in this wonderful man of God, praise God, that we shall end, in all our tribulations, and in all the circumstances, of our lives, and you know, there's no greater force, in our lives, that when trouble, is proud upon you, when problems, are being heaped upon you, you can stand on your toes, and look at the city of Jerusalem, over the top of the world, and see it, in the city of Jerusalem, as the city of God, the Habitation Justice, the Rock of Salvation, and to put our trust, in God, and ultimately, we'll be taken, right out of the trouble, and to live it, in that city, and David, forever, looked towards that city, and there he was, driven all around it, and never could get down, to the worship of God, of course, it wasn't as original, at this time, the cover up, it wasn't there, but nonetheless, he was nowhere near, the burden of business, away from the courts, of Yara, and yet in effect, he had more worship, in that prayer, because this happened, but still had this, present number of times, and it was going to go, more and more, that way, but for the moment, he's on the run, 1st of Samuel 24, and on the run, he continues, 1st of Samuel 23, the last verses, and David went up, from thence, and brought them, the strongholds, of En-Jedi, Haon-Jedi, the spring, of the wild goat, right on the shores, of the Dead Sea, whether it's this thing, and David was, further and further, eastward, but he came,
- 38:56
right on the shores, of the Dead Sea, and there, the wilderness of Judea, as it draws near, the great Arabah, the Jordan Valley, it drops, 50ly down, to about 400 feet, almost straight down, to the valley floor, which runs, into the Dead Sea, and in that, 6th of Samuel, 400 feet, it's crashed, by these defiles, and roll, run down, to the valley, of the Jordan, and he saw that, and the one of En-Jedi, was about a mile long, as it stills out, into the valley, and broadens out, and because of the spring there, you got the remarkable facility, it's unbelievable, couldn't you see it, the greenery, at the Red Dead Sea, and you can stand, at the top of the Red Dead Sea, and look down, that's the fire, which plunges down, from you, and runs out of the road, into the Dead Sea, you can look down, and you see the Red Sea, you see the blue hills, and mud, you see the salt plains, you see desolation, you see sterile country, all around you, and you just see, a green flash, of the Red Dead Sea, and there is the place, of the wild goats, the rock in the bar, the mini caverns, the place of the wild goats, and you know that area, we gave it, and there is three birds, and he came with a sheep coat, by the wild, so pretty mercy, he came with a sheep coat, he came with a place, where the shepherds, used to keep their sheep, too, and of course, in those areas, there was a big coat, and they would do it a wall,
- 40:26
a third little wall, outside the cave, in the doorway, and they would drive their sheep, through that wall, and into the cave, and it was almost, a natural, sheep coat, and into one of those sheep coats, David, drove his little flock, so some of them, were sheep, who will be sheep, David, they were fake like a lamb, but they were dragons, but nonetheless, into that cavern, into one of those sheep coats, David, drove his little flock, from 600 men, and four hundred men, and so, because, the locality, is excellent, so yes, it's a wonderful flock, you can't believe it, when you get up, to the top of the end, you come to the other, the sheep, comes out of the, right of the hill, and still, for about 20 or 30 feet, you were cool, splashing up, and bubbling there, and of course, you've got the overhanging, cleats, and the verge, so it casts a deep shade, all around you, and you can't imagine, the refreshing, atmosphere, of that place, as in your day, there, and one can relatively, imagine, but as Saul, as the church, he's only stood, of a false, he searched for David, he feels that he himself, having passed this way, being quite certain, that David is not here, to leave him, for a moment, go to God, and rest a while, and into the crowd, comes the enemy of God, and the enemy, of those 600 men, and those 600 men, of our secret force, they sort of, smashed into the crowd, and this is in a, that 10 seconds, flash, and the opportunities here, and they appeal, to David,
- 42:05
now you look at this, in verse 4, look at the appeal, they take to David, and the men of David, said unto him, behold the joy, of which Yahweh, said unto thee, behold I will deliver, thine enemies, of thine hand, for thou mayest do to me, as it shall be good, unto thee, and they appeal to David, on the basis of the word of God, on the basis of the word, and you can imagine, at the shower, shower, I've always thought of it, this is it, it's a description, this is the day, not now, I think, what about this, go on, go on, go on, and there are six, hundreds of them, about this, this is different of God, men in debt, men in the debt, men in the debt, men in the debt, men in the debt, they hated him, and there was a hatred, there was an internal hatred, and David wrote about that, in the 57th Psalm, and I say this, it's a standing testimony, to the immense character of David, and to his personal interest, upon those men, that verse 7, he signed them with words,
- 43:13
can you imagine, saying, Jared with words, you're going to see him later on, I'm going to run a little character, say to Jared, it might be a bloodline cow, you never saw him, like a bloodbill, you know, in all your life, and there are a lot like him, and he signed them with words, and they protested, to the man's character, the risen sisters, and I was really imagining, and saw him sitting there, at the cave, coming door, coming out of the loch, into the darkness of the cave, and the men were there, becoming accustomed to the loch, to the darkness, and seeing better than him, and saw him sitting there, there, and all, waiting at the least, and there would have been, bits of soul, all over the dead sea area, and David says, leave him alone, leave him alone, and no one knew, no one knew, he slipped straight, and he was enabled, by the power of what he was, to command the respect, and obedience of men, who were fierce, in the animosity, and woods riding, we could be loved, who can command respect, the admiration, and obedience of others, if they feel,
- 44:34
that we were worthy of it, no one's going to listen, to the hypocrite, and if Jane had been a hypocrite, he would have got, killed with 10 feet, and nobody knew,
- 44:50
and when you're out, you know the story, is all about him, cannot be scared, allow him to leave the cave, to unknowing, as to what had happened, and then David, followed him out, and called to him, and you know, from the words of David, you saw, there was a pattern of tears, for family, and you know, it's rather remarkable, the way that David, addressed it, he said in verse 8, my Adam, the king, my Lord, the king, at the end of verse 10, he called in, Jawa's anointed, at the beginning of verse 11, my father, verse 14, the king of Israel, look at the appeal, as he walked out, behind Saul, rising to the temple, Saul swings around, my Lord, the king, Jawa's anointed, my father, the king, of Israel,
- 45:59
and all that was driving Saul, on his mad force, those of his sisters, on his fear, that David would occupy, any one of those positions, that David would be, the lord of the king, that he would be, Jawa's anointed, that he would be, the father of Israel, that he would be, the king of Israel, and then, told David, killing Saul, I don't want to Saul, I'm prepared, to recognize your life, Philip's better man, than I am Saul, as far as that's concerned, you've been anointed, by Jawa, I don't know, my Lord, the king, Jawa's anointed,
- 46:39
my father, the king of the night, and all that was driving Saul, on his mad force, those of his sisters, or his fear, that David would occupy, every one of those positions, that David would be, the lord of the king, that he would be, Yahweh's anointed, that he would be, the father of Israel, that he would be, the king of Israel, and then, poor David, telling Saul, I don't want this Saul, I'm prepared, to recognize your right, Philip's better man, than I am Saul, as far as that's concerned, you've been anointed, by Yahweh, I don't trust him, and he appealed to him, on this basis, and he says, what are you doing, after whom do you pursue, a dead God, and a dead God, was the most, the most sensible thing, because it was not, only useless, but it was an abomination, am I an abomination, to you, my father, do you come out, after a flea, and the Hebrew word, is a single flea, have I won flea, in the whole nation, that I've got to be exterminated, what is it, that drives you, on this mad course, when I don't want, the things, that you fear I do, but no, Saul continued, on that course, that, and the things, despite that appeal, but for the moment, family returned to him, and for verse 16, on this, who never replied, Saul, in which family, for a moment, returned to him, and he says, is this what God, brought to my son, gentlemen, and he goes on, to show, that he was more righteous, David was more righteous, than me, and Saul, for the moment,
- 48:22
brethren, and sisters, father, for example, that he was shown, was fast to admit, that a better man, was before him, and then Saul, revealed his mind, in verse 19, if a man, find his enemy, will he let him, go away, you can imagine, what that meant, if the totals, have been reversed, brethren, this is what, you think Saul, would have done, if a man, find his enemy, will he let him, go away, the answer, in Saul's mind, was decidedly not, and he was telling, David, no uncertain words, although unconsciously, what he would do, and now he says, in verse 20, behold, I know well, that thou, shalt surely, do care, and that the kingdom, of Israel, shall be established, in thine hand, for that he knew, that wise, he was a silly, idiot, found that conviction, and you know, brethren, sisters, we say, that we can't understand, the attitude of mine, but look, I'm going to show you, that Saul wasn't the only one, who knew that, or Israel, knew that, I know well, that the kingdom, will be established, in thine hand, why did he bow, to that conviction, for precisely, the same reason, that you and I, do not misdirect the patience, although we know, where the Christ is coming, exactly the same reason, that he was fled, precisely the same reason, whether from Sunday, from Sunday, we get up here, and we talk about, the way people dress, we talk about, the marks of the flesh, on their side, we talk about other things, and I've got, the slightest chance, of doing it out, but everybody knows, that the fundamental, of truth is over,
- 50:04
the fact that Christ is coming, that's the same reason, and don't you ever tell me, don't anybody ever come, and tell me, that they don't understand, Saul's attitude is mine, because I say this, if they don't understand, Saul's attitude is mine, then they don't understand, anything about the father, or human nature, and we do things, that we should, save our day, in the face, of strong conviction, to the conscience, and what makes us do it, love of self, Mr. B, because we won't be told, and because if we did it, it would be the pictures, of the brother, or the sister, that go to see a boss, and no, I should go and tell, who are now, who do know who's there, and that's what Saul said, I know well, that you're going to be a kid, but he had not, the slightest intention, of doing anything about it, and yet David thought, perhaps he did, because on this occasion, he walked out behind him, we're going to come, an infinite in a minute, but he didn't do that, before he told him this again, he put a valley, between him and Saul, because you could see, when you could see, that Saul was slipping, so fast, with valley of despair, and ignorance, and wickedness, but he had to put a valley, between him and that king, he never again, following that like that, to his uncle, because David could read, right through, he was a hypocrite, I believe Saul, and every word, that he said, but he said, I know well, I believe he did know, it was Jonathan, that he did, he says,
- 51:39
my father knows, he knows David, what's estimate, and so did his uncle, and so did a host of others, and yet they went about, in the ecclesia, to oppose him, why?
- 51:53
Because they loved himself, and they refused, in the way of the will of God, and you and I, did precisely the same thing, make none the sake of our faith, we did precisely the same thing, for him, because we were continuing, so long, as we continued, and looking at the big place, with our fleshly wisdom, in chapter 25, strangles up,
- 52:23
another man is gone, look what's happening, there's a big meeting, up there of Judah, a fire is gone, all the priests, the snob are gone,
- 52:37
all the city, the city of snob is gone, the 600 men would say, that they're gone, the ephod's gone, and Samuel's now dead, one by one, brethren and sisters, the pillars of the city, the falling out of Israel, and what did David do, what did he do, when Samuel died, all Israel gathered together, to bury him at Radar, the height, the word means, the height, and he was the height, of Israel, and what did David do, he went straight down, in the wilderness of Paran, he went further, and deeper south, because he knew, brethren and sisters, that there was, up at Grameau, at Reef, a little seal of a popper, with an aged man, presiding over them, who represented, a bit of common sense, in Israel, and they were exercising, a bit of restraint, and as soon as, David heard that Samuel died, he went for his life, in the wilderness of Paran, why did he, because he knew, that further restraint, was lifted from Saul, and what did he come down there, he came to a place, called Maron, and in the region, of Carmel, where there was a man, who had great possessions, for the name of Nabal, and Nabal, means a fool, and that's exactly, what he was, and in verse 4, David heard, in the wilderness, that Nabal, did cheer his sheep, now, brothers and sisters, it was an eastern custom, that at the time, of shearing, of course, they used to get, a lot of help, from all over the place, they would collect together, a team of shears, much as they do today, and they would all, participate, in the shearing of the flock,
- 54:14
and it was a custom, on these occasions, to make it a great festival, we have one later on, for example, when Absalom, was shearing his sheep, and he caught a great feast, and this was the custom, of the day, so that everybody, came along, with the shearers, and they had a great feast, to celebrate, the shearing, Nabal, had great possessions, David heard, that he was shearing his sheep, so he decided, that Nabal, ought to share, his bounty, why, well, look what David, has done for them, verse 7, and now, I have heard, that thou hast hear it, now thy shepherds, which were with us, he hurt them not, neither was there, ought, missing under them, all the while, that they were incarnate, those were David's words, to Nabal, later on, the shepherds, themselves, confirmed that, and they said, in verse 15 and 16, that the men, were very good unto us, we were not hurt, neither missed we anything, as long as we were, congresses with them, when we were in the field, they were a wall, unto us, both by night and day, all the while, we were with them, keeping the sheep, a wall, under us, the wilderness of Paran, brethren and sisters, the last outpost, of Judah, beyond the wilderness, of Paran, was all, the region, all the Bedouin tribes, rose, the fierce tribes, of the desert, the Amalitites, were down there, with a host of others, the Edomites, were down there, and there were a host of others, who used to come, screaming up in the dinner, and to have a, a place down here, like Nabal had, and to be prosperous,
- 55:55
that man was very, very blessed indeed, and the reason, for this present prosperity, was, that the shepherds, were unmolested, because there was, a wall around them, it was some pretty, solid bricks, believe me, there was a wall, around those men, and they never missed a thing, and you can only, point the picture, in your own mind, of what would have, went on in that wilderness, as the sheep, the shepherds, would have brought, their sheep into the field, and they would have, seen David's men, they would have, gone over, shook hands with them, or whatever they did, in those days, made friends with them, talked with them, protected them by night, shared their watches, made sure, that they kept, the another cross, further and further away from them, not a sheep would miss, while David was there, he had every right, to share in that thing, and so he said, a message to neighbors,
- 56:44
what was his reply, verse 10, to his slave, to his discipleship, so, so, to any servant, that break away, every man's will be faster, a vagabond, what, a renegade, to my feet, going to be, the chuck in the run, and this message, came back to David,
- 57:12
David got all of the swords, he girded it on, verse 13, David said, under his moon, gird him, every man on the sword, and there was a scene, coming out of the moon,
- 57:25
now, brethren and sisters, David was going to get, an object lesson, for the first time, we have recorded, now, at this particular stage, David has an unrighteous anger, Jesus said, oh, but look, he should have, should have been angry, he had a right to give you, yes he did, but there was something, about this anger, brethren and sisters, that was very bad, and it was calculated, to bring David, to this great harm, now, let's look at the, in the 14th chapter of Proverbs, in the 14th chapter of Proverbs, Proverbs, and verse 29, verse 29,
- 58:17
Proverbs 14 verse 29 says, He that is slow to rock is a great understanding. But he that is hasty of spirit exalted navel, folly. And David was ready to blow up a whole lot of steam. He was gone. And the 600 men with him were one or two. And now for the first time, gentlemen, sisters, there was true fellowship between David and the 600.
- 58:59
He was one with them. And he shouldn't have been. And you can imagine on this occasion, when they mounted their youth and went towards these places navel, they were all behind David. Imagine Joseph and all the fellows hardly waiting to get there. And David, his eyes red, blazing with anger. That a man of such a foolish nature should reject the goodness of God that it would be shown to him through to the living of the grave of the sacrifice.
- 59:31
And now into the picture comes a marvellous woman. And she was a marvellous woman rather than sisters and young people. And she had a rare combination of characteristics. A rare combination of characteristics. She was pretty and she was intelligent. That's a rare combination. And her intelligence is astounding. Absolutely astounding. Not only so, but this intelligence was known by everybody.
- 1:00:12
At least all who were unhealthed. And with the young men who had been protected by David, and David had a vow to be clear that he was going to destroy everybody. He didn't do it with the children. In the heat of anger, where did they go? But one of the young men went and told Abigail.
- 1:00:28
Of course he did. He knew that there was a woman who would understand. And into this record of David's life comes one of the most remarkable characters. And here's a list for our sisters. Thank goodness they're not good looking, but they've had a better chance of being intelligent. But into this record comes a character that I think was going to be a great stimulus for young people, young sisters.
- 1:00:49
They've got to put, here's a woman they can emulate. Now I want you to follow through this woman's character. Abigail. Her name means Father Joy. And that's exactly what she was. She was her heavenly Father's joy. In every sense of the word. How on earth did you become married to a man like Nabal?
- 1:01:07
I will never know. There must have been a time when she didn't have his diligence. But there you are. They were married. This character, this woman and this man. And she hears about this. And she knows, brethren and sisters, that the disaster threatens. But I want you to notice this. And I want this to impress upon you.
- 1:01:28
If I can impress nothing else. I want to impress upon you this fact. Her greatest concern was that David. Now you mark it. Her greatest concern was not for her servant. Was not for her husband. Was not for herself. Her greatest concern was that David was about to act out of character. And she had known David.
- 1:01:51
She had already loved him. She knew how he acted in every circumstance. She knew what he should have done. And she was greatly afraid that David was going to act out of character. And there would be a thing he would regret all his life. And that was the greatest concern she had. She was intelligent.
- 1:02:09
And away she went. To meet him. And my word, what a wonderful occasion this was. We read in the end of those nine years. The first nine years. She talked that she did not tell her husband no one. And it was so. As she wrote on the app. That she came down by the cover of a hill.
- 1:02:31
And behold David and his son came down against her. And she met her. What a remarkable verse of scripture. You know that word cover. It literally means a cover. And you can get the picture can't you. But David tops the rise of this hill. On one side. And she tops the rise on the other.
- 1:02:50
And in this particular region. They could have easily missed each other. There were more than one root in this region. It was one of the, that region again. I was talking about where. There's a lot of these interprime valleys and hills. May I. Now she talked out later on. That it was providential that they met.
- 1:03:07
In the era where they could have even missed each other. A disaster would have been the result. And two they were under cover. And the great mighty. Anointed of Yahweh. Who was going to be king of the world. Was about to give a lesson from a woman. And it was good for him.
- 1:03:26
That they were under the cover of the hill. And I can picture the scene as the two of them came head on. And David just breathing out. Threatening and snoring. And this woman calculated what she would say to. Now look what she said. Verse 24. She said on his feet. And said under him.
- 1:03:46
Upon me my ruler. Upon me let this iniquity be. First of all she tried to. Erviate David's anger by shifting the brain to herself. Let me take this to death. Now in verse 25. The first thing she points out to David is that. She says I pray thee. Regard this man of the liar.
- 1:04:12
Not my lord I pray thee. Regard this man of the liar. Worthlessness. Even navel. For as his name is. So is he. Solly is his name. And folly is with him. She had a great respect for her husband. But you see she wanted to point out to David first of all. That there was no sincere of false loyalty.
- 1:04:32
Loyalty is one thing. When royally is carried out extreme. This bad thing. She wanted to point out first of all today. But she knew the character of her husband. And was quite well aware of that character. And that because that she was his wife. She was not going to exceed the fact that folly should reign.
- 1:04:50
No sir. She said my lord became. For my lord she said I would accept you that regard as man of the life. Forget him. Deal with me. It's what she's saying. Now therefore in verse 26. My lord. As Yahweh liveth. And as thy soul liveth. King Yahweh hath withholding me from coming to shed blood.
- 1:05:14
And from avenging thyself with thine own hands. Now let thine enemies and they that seek evil. Be to my lord free as navel. Look what she's saying. Look she says David. My husband's name is a fool. And I believe he's a fool. Make no mistake about that. I don't agree with him. But I want to tell you this.
- 1:05:37
You're being sucked in your tracks by Yahweh. Yahweh's withholding you from two things. And I want to impress this upon you David. Two things that you're going to do. That you're going to sadly regret. One is you're going to shed innocent blood. And two. And this is the point she drove home again.
- 1:05:58
You're going to save yourself. It's never been your politics. You're going to save yourself as the nation said. And it's never been your politics. And furthermore, Reverend Mrs. She thought she wasn't concerned with navel. She got him out of a question. She said let's not regard him. And I'm talking about navel. What you're going to do to navel David.
- 1:06:24
You'll regret. Because you've never adopted a gratitude against your real enemies. Because there's a way to seek evil to my Lord. Let them do his navel. Let God handle navel. As you've been letting God handle Saul. Be consistent David. See what you're getting at? Don't worry about navel. Think what you're getting at with Saul.
- 1:06:44
Him and my husband are the same David. But I know how you've acted towards him. Now don't be a fool. And be inconsistent with your practice. You'll regret it. Look at this woman. Now she says in verse 28. I tell thee forgive the trespass of my handmaid. For Yahweh will certainly, certainly make my Lord a sure house.
- 1:07:10
Because my Lord fighteth the battles of Yahweh. And evil hath not been found of thee all thy days. And she was a woman, brethren and sisters, that brought to David's notice the establishment of his house before that term was ever used by Nathan the prophet. She used that term David's house long before Nathan had ever promised him that God was doing the sure house.
- 1:07:35
That's not a bad term of insight into the promises of God, is it? And she said, look, the reason you're going to get this David is because you've fought the battles of Yahweh and no evil has been found in you all your days. Why is the inconsistent? Yet she says, a man is written, but pursue thee.
- 1:07:57
And to seek thy soul, that the soul of my Lord shall be bound in the bundle of life, with Yahweh thy bride. And the souls of thy enemies, then shall he fling out as out of the middle of the fleet. And there is intelligence. What better calculated, brethren and sisters, to appease the wrath of a man that a woman should make a veil inference to some of these victories?
- 1:08:24
And David would have considered this. And she said, look, a man is risen to sleep. She's not worrying about nabels. He's forgotten. He's an idiot. All she's worrying about is Saul and David and his attitude to Saul. Now, Mark, you note that. And she says to him, look, the issue is this, David, that your life is bound up in a bag of life.
- 1:08:49
Such a enemy, he will fling out of the fleet as with a stone. And when David went to fight Goliath, he had five stones in a shepherd's bag. And it was the grace of God, brethren, that all through his life that he saved him. And that stone was straight into Goliath's forehead. And there was a very deaf illusion of the slain of Goliath, and the providence of God in keeping him in a shepherd's bag.
- 1:09:17
She said, use your brain. Let God handle it, this one. Remember Goliath. Remember Goliath. You don't want to have an anger, though. You are in supreme confidence that Yahweh would avenge himself, not you. You weren't going to save yourself. Yahweh was going to save you. Now you be careful. Now look in verse 31.
- 1:09:39
What a wonderful thing, brethren, this is. He summed up the whole position and said to him, Now look David, all I said to you is this. Navel is a fool. Now David, why should a fool entice you to be as foolish as his? Leaving the land is an idiot. Now David, listen to me.
- 1:10:22
You're not fighting Navel, you're fighting Saul. And you've fought him on sound principles. And those are the principles that are going to take you into the kingdom and make you a sure house. Now those principles, David, have been this. That you have never shed innocent blood. And you've never made an attempt to save yourself.
- 1:10:43
Don't let a fool draw you into existence. A man has risen up to pursue you, David, and you've been pursued by him. The issue's been clear to you, David. You've been hidden a shepherd's bag. And it's Yahweh that's sling them out of the sleeve. Let him continue. But when you come to the throne, nobody can look back on this incident and say, there was an occasion when David lost trust in God and saved himself.
- 1:11:11
And when you do come to the throne, David, remember Navel. She was a very intelligent woman. She was an extremely intelligent woman. And the very fact that was this, that she should say, Lord, remember me, showed that she not only knew that David was going to come to the kingdom, but she had what God was pleased with, and it had been son and daughter.
- 1:11:40
She had faith. So without faith it is impossible to please God. For they that come to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder that they were going to do this issue. And that woman was looking for a reward. She had a personal hope. And David acknowledged all that she said.
- 1:11:59
He said, look, Abigail, I accept you. And he said, you have saved me from avenging myself with my own hands. You have saved me from fire. And so they parted, went their separate ways. She went back to Navel, found him in a drunken seat, blind drunk, saying that I won't talk to him tonight, I'll tell him in the morning.
- 1:12:20
And in the morning she told him all that she's done, and he had a stroke. His heart died within him, and became as a stone. And ten days later he was dead. She was right, President and Sister, as a matter of fact, she was dead right. Ten days later she was right, and he was dead.
- 1:12:40
Jonah had handled him, and David had been delivered from a very grievous error that could have plotted his cover book. And I want you to, I'll repeat again, for the sake of you all, that the chief concern that woman had was not his sins among natives, but that he should act out of character in his fight against Saul.
- 1:13:01
And she was watching that fight with the closest intent, waiting for his ultimate outcome that she herself might bring herself to David. That woman was extremely intelligent, and she was sorry to a man like that. A wonderful character. And the record says that David took her birth, this of hers, to why? He sent a message under her.
- 1:13:21
And when you read the record, you can almost see her falling over herself to get to David. And she lived, and it was just in occupants and luxuries. The man had many possessions. He had flocks and herds. He had all sorts of things. And she left that to go to David, and she went straight away.
- 1:13:37
And there, where was she? In the hills of Judah. Down in the land of the Philistines. Taken captive by the Amalekites. Abigail, the wife of David, and his children were taken with them. And she was in dire circumstances. But she came to the throne with his food. And was a wonderful woman in his world.
- 1:13:54
A beautiful woman would have known David could have intelligent conversations. By a rare characteristic. And David would have, I believe, great consolation in a woman like that. And there's an example for our sisters to follow. Use their intelligence as God has given them. And to use it for the good of others. And to see that their brethren act consistently in the things of the truth.
- 1:14:17
To give advice when necessary. Never to take the authority of your Lord's name. That's not the authority. But to give tender and sweet advice, as this woman did. Save David from a horror source. Which he would have been victorious. No doubt about that. But we would have regretted it with the rest of his life.
- 1:14:36
And then comes an incident which I want to finish with. In verse 26. In chapter 26, I'm sorry, of the first of Samuel. When the Zephites came to Saul to Gidea again. Wonderful people, the Zephites. And again they betrayed David. And we learned that David at that time was at the hill of Hakala.
- 1:15:01
The hill of Hakala, which means the hill of hiding. And so Saul came down in verse 3 and kicked in the hill of Hakala. And David said, try that and understood that Saul was coming very deep. David intended his system to rid it. Now you see, at this time, the day that Saul came down and the church did.
- 1:15:19
It's David at this time that takes the battle of Saul. And you see, there's a wonderful, wonderful thrill of this. You see how that David now takes the initiative in this area. An initiative by the way, which he gave away to everyone. He couldn't understand it. But he turned out his pride, they watched Saul come down.
- 1:15:37
He knew all the looks and crannies now. He could follow him intelligently. And down he came. And he settled out in the camp. And David knew where he was. So David saw the place where Saul lay. And he saw the place where Abner the son of Mer lay. And Abner the son of Mer, Reverend Sirsons, was now brought into the Redwood very prominently for a reason.
- 1:16:00
So David goes down to the hill of Hakala. And across this valley, this great space, in verse 13, across the great space, there in the darkness, was a candled store. And David turns around, looks at two fellows, Ahimelech the Hittite, and Abishai, the brother of Jared, who wants to come down with me?
- 1:16:26
Abishai got his words out first. He was a fast-talker. And I could imagine, they were, look, they were courageous men. They were, I'm mistaken about this, they were men in those days. And Abishai took out with a four-nozy spear, getting out to the front. I'll go, I'll go, I'll go. You're right, I'll go.
- 1:16:43
Right. Abishai, Reverend Sirsons, father of generosity. He was very generous. Really generous. He was really sore. He was really ignorant. He was a man in the 2nd Samuel 23 that stood up, 300 men on one occasion. He stood them all up. A whole lot of them in the field. 300. I'll go. And down they went.
- 1:17:07
A terrific occasion, this. David had a purpose in this. You see how David has taken the initiative now. And down they're going. And down they're going. As I point out of the night, they stood over the saw. And they kicked him out because it was a custom in those days that the king always was sticking to his spear in his head.
- 1:17:22
So in the middle of the night, anybody wanted to find the king, we had only had to find a sword standing up on the ground and there we walked. So there was a spear stuck in his head. I mean, he had a saw on David standing over here, and all the men around the street.
- 1:17:35
Come on, David. Give us a gun. What? Can you imagine? We had a woman who had six foot under. And David, no, no, look, I'm just kidding. I'm screwing up. He got his spear. I want that water bottle. Come with me. Stand on over this valley, up the other side. up the other side.
- 1:17:59
Now David's got a purpose, doesn't he? Because David could see something going on in Saul's kingdom. And whether he was isolated from the hills of Judea from where Saul's kingdom was, David knew what was going on. And when there was a great space between them, and I wanted to capture the scene, David calls out, Hey, Abner!
- 1:18:23
Abner! Abner starts up. It's dark. The voice of David reading through the air. All the armies awake, Saul's awake. And this voice reading through the valley. Abner! My word, you're a valiant man. My word. Who is that to be? Abner! Father of life! As his name was. Father of life! Who is life to be in Israel, Abner?
- 1:18:57
You haven't done too good tonight, Abner. And you can imagine Abner. Nursing up on this. With all the men around and living here. Abner, the son of Noah. Now, captain of Saul's host, president and sisters, the opposite number to Joach. Joach killed him later on, murdered him. And Abner was in on up there, he got his wish.
- 1:19:18
And the two of them murdered him. But there he was now. Listen to the voice of David. And David was insulting him. He had a good reason to insult him. Because that man was a man. He had the same characteristics as Saul. And he was the man, more than anybody else at this time, who was stirring Saul up against David.
- 1:19:36
And David had his opportunity. You're a mighty valiant man, Abner, aren't you? You're the greatest of Israel. A father of life. You haven't done too good tonight. Right. Where's the king's fear, Abner? Search your element dark for us. And look certain it's not there. I've got it, Abner. And he lay right alongside of you.
- 1:20:00
And you can imagine, and seeing with rise, because he'd been caught out. Why had he been caught out? Because now David wants to get it with Saul. And he was the man that was stirring up Saul. Because in verse 90, David said, Now therefore I pray to you, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant.
- 1:20:22
If Yahweh has stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering. For if they be the children of men, cursed be they before Yahweh. For they have given thee out this day from abiding in the inheritance of Yahweh. Saying, go serve other gods. And that's what David had against Abner, brethren and sisters.
- 1:20:38
Because he was the man that was bolstering up Saul. In the vain hope that one day he would occupy Saul's position. He was Saul's uncle. He was related to him. He took major steps later on to gain that throne. And he was driving David out. And the thing that there in the David's call was the fact that if Yahweh first called up, he wouldn't mind because he would be a guilty man.
- 1:21:00
But what had David out was that men were feeding the hatred of Saul. And what was happening? David was being driven further. And further away than he was headed into Galway. And he was in danger of going out of the church. And in danger of going out of the church, Paul. And men keep me out of the church like Abner.
- 1:21:20
And this Abner, the son of Mir, father of Lot, look what he was, those who insistent, a keen and vicious man. He was first of all captain of Saul's house. But then as soon as 2 Samuel chapter 2, we go in the middle of a little bit about which hypocrite and hypocrite it was.
- 1:21:40
And then vicious hypocrite in the second of Samuel, chapter 2, even when Saul was slain upon the mountains of Gilbar, in the second of Samuel, chapter 2, verse 8, we read, that Abner, the son of Ner, captain of Saul's house, took Esfarsheth, the son of Saul, and brought him over to Manaheim. Mananayim.
- 1:22:04
He brought him over to Mananayim, brethren, Jesus. Esfarsheth. Just a love of jealousy. His name means a man of shame. And Abner brought him over to Jordan. Eden when Saul had fallen, and the power of David was swinging into the throne. Abner was clinging for majorly to the hope that he could be the king of Israel, the greatest man in the land, as David called all the medications in irony.
- 1:22:24
The great food was like a balloon in Israel. And he was clinging to nations. He was a vain hope. And he got the huge pot here, son of Saul, just a puppet kid. He stuck him on the throne and stood behind him, goading him all the time. And he knew, he knew, brethren and sisters, to ensure that Yahweh had promised over the kingdom.
- 1:22:43
He knew that. And in the sixth chapter, the second of Samuel, he says in verse 9, or verse 6, first of all, and it came to pass all his war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong to the house of Saul. He went and married one of Saul's concubines, one step towards the throne, because it was a custom in those days that if a man took the king's right, this gave him a claim of the throne.
- 1:23:11
So he took this step towards the throne. Isfosheth calling in question. And I want you to notice the words of Abner, Isfosheth, in verse 9, he said, so do God to Abner, and more also, except as the Lord has sworn to David, even so I do through him to translate the kingdom from the house of Saul and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah from Ben even to be as Sheba.
- 1:23:43
And as if to underline the power he exercised over Isfosheth, we read, and he could not answer Abner a word again because he sealed it. So look at the words of Abner, President Christopher. Look at the foolish, stupid, idiotic words of Abner to Isfosheth. He said, listen, Isfosheth, accusing, and imposing this woman.
- 1:24:03
Isfosheth, I believe, was correct. I believe that stealing Ambrick's hand was taking effect towards the throne. But he said, Isfosheth, who you are, you are. Now he said, listen, Yahweh has promised the kingdom to David. See, there is that I don't fulfill that promise. That I will translate the kingdom of Saul to David.
- 1:24:27
And I'll set him up as on the throne. Watch out that I don't think about the promise of Yahweh. Now what a state of mind that man was in. Look at the dimension state of mind he was in, in this instance. To know, for the fact, that Yahweh has made a promise to David, to make himself strong in opposition to it.
- 1:24:46
And then when threatened by Isfosheth, he turns around and says, that by the feet of his own arm, look out that I don't fulfill the promises of Yahweh. And he went about to do just that. And when he saw Isfosheth talking on the throne, and he knew that his cause was lost in Israel, he took hold of the promises of Yahweh.
- 1:25:06
Took hold of them to go down to the Judah to fulfill the promises of Yahweh, to feather his own mess. Using the word of God and the promises of the truth to bring big man out and the father of life to be the greatest man in Israel. And he came down to David, found his bossy, found the grave.
- 1:25:26
Because he could see now that it was inevitable that David would make the throne. And he was going to scheme to get that throne. And if it wasn't, the Judah probably would have dropped somewhere in David's world. David was unaware of what he was saying at this time, thinking perhaps that he turned and changed until Zareb shut the knife straight to him and it served him right.
- 1:25:45
And there was Adna, brethren, Adna. And what have we learned from his character? What have we learned from his character? We learned just this. But in the truth in which we live,
- 1:26:00
and in the power of that force, it drives our destiny in our life, through our promises of God. And those promises have promised us eternal life and glory. And that our men who are prepared to take that book in their years, and to charge them with the ecclesiastes of God, and to set themselves on high, to anticipate those promises of glory now.
- 1:26:28
And I'll be like Adna, the father of life, that we put out of the way. And David, after that incident, turned and fled to the land of the Philistines. And so Agner, the son of Mer, was successful temporarily. He had driven David out from his hell as of Yahweh. And so he was going down to the region where it was easy to serve other gods.
- 1:26:52
And there he found suffering. And we'll learn a little bit about that later on. So for the time being, let us remember this. Let the young sisters remember and emulate the characteristics of all of all others all. The foi foi and let the young and the old remember and not to emulate the characteristics of Adna the father of life
