  1. 0:13

Welcome to good for selfie and talks. I’m Levi and I’m Chris and I’m Brian, thank you for joining us this week. On this podcast, we select one taco week to help us get the Bible in our daily news feed. We post a new episode of the start of each week with a short intro. Hand to kind of set the stage for the talk. You’re about to listen to and now let’s talk more about this week’s talk.

  2. 0:36

This we stalk is an excitation by Brother Kent Beeson that was given a January 29th of this year at the Abilene Ecclesia. I believe Kent is a member there now, but for many years he was Then Seattle and then Austin. This is a really great education. It’s I think it’s also having spent a little bit of time with with Uncle Kent.

  3. 1:10

I’d say this is listening to this is exactly like hanging out and having a conversation with brother can’t he is a person that is one of those people that is constantly thinking of spiritual things and discussing spiritual things, every conversation includes. Virtual things and he takes us in this talk on really wonderful exploration of the two greatest Commandments from Mark 12 explaining, some of the context of that question from the Pharisees and then explaining the viewtiful answer and kind of spending a lot of time talking about I think the the Oneness but also the duality of our service. As, as followers of Jesus and his sons of Sons and Daughters of God.

  4. 2:04

So it’s a really great ization. I was really happy to share it and it was I’m thankful to the brother who shared it with me. Thank you to everyone who sends in suggestions. It’s a huge help for us. I also want to do shout out a new podcast, it’s not that new, but it’s been brought to our attention. And I’ve now listen to every episode and really enjoyed it and it’s the, the CBM podcast.

  5. 2:25

So wherever you listen to podcasts, the CBM now has a podcast. That’s the crystal came by Admission based in England. Now has a podcast. And I think it’s, it’s really fun and I can tell you from experience that it holds up. Well, if you want to go back and listen to the back episodes. So if you’re a podcast listener, that’s a good one. Thank you again to the brother who sent this, and here is the two greatest Commandments by Kent reason. Good morning, everybody.

  6. 3:02

It’s good to be here. This spiritual shot in the arm and to consider the voice of God through his word. In marks 12, which we just read. Beautiful Passage Part of the proof that Jesus is from God. He reasoned with the Pharisees and the Sadducees to where they’ve never heard. That kind of reasoning. It blew him out and they just were like empty. Their wind was gone.

  7. 3:33

Was like, yeah, that makes sense. That’s true, render to God the things that are his. And so, our lord Jesus had been asked by that pharisaic. A lawyer scribe, what’s the most important commandment and God’s law? And out of the hundreds there 613 laws in the Old Testament, the hundreds. And that’s interesting, 6 number of man, 13 number of rebellion

  8. 4:00

law of God is meant for rebellious nature to lead us to Christ. And so the hundreds of you shalls’ and you shall not rightly Jesus highlights the foremost Commandant, as being expressed in a summary, verse in Deuteronomy, 6. Let’s go there, the famous, Deuteronomy 6, which is fabulous, because Now, the Jews knew this, the Pharisees actually knew this, they weren’t wanted to see, did Jesus, understand and agree that the great commandment was you shall love y’all what your God.

  9. 4:42

They actually taught that that was the foremost commandment. But he was highlighting it and then he was going to explain what it actually meant Jesus. But here we have Deuteronomy 6, verse 4, through 6, Where Moses is taught to say to Israel hear o Israel. Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is 1 verse 5 and you shall love your way your God with all your heart. And with all your soul, and with all your might these words which I am commanding, you today shall be on your heart, but Wait a minute.

  10. 5:28

If you just heard that what kind of a law is that for anyone even a God to command that he be loved The Heavenly father’s gracious. Answer to this proven over and over again, throughout history. especially perceived and when he gave Christ, Jesus, the answer is because I am loved.

  11. 5:58

Which when correctly comprehended, meaning what does that include? What does it not include? Should win and Inspire as Jesus says, any honest and good heart. To seek Christ to know and please God.

  12. 6:15

Helpful, in understanding the intent and the design of the two, great Commandments is the word one. firstly in declaring to us an important point of who God is but secondly one will see as a complete spiritual individual Of God’s workmanship one and then one together as an Ecclesia in Christ, who at the greatest cost to himself. In faith, working through us, both fulfilled and demonstrated to you.

  13. 6:56

And I How to fulfill the two great Commandments by the spirit joyously giving. Thanks and glory to God. The father because God is love. And let’s go to Deuteronomy. I’m 4. Verse 35. This is going to Set up the great commandment Deuteronomy 6 is all about you shall love. Yahweh. But Deuteronomy 435 the whole point of God’s working and Israel and us is to you, it was shown that you might know that Yahweh, he is God and there is no one besides him.

  14. 7:41

And so when we get to Deuteronomy 6 know that Yahweh is one He’s one and he’s not just saying, okay, God is when he’s actually teaching a lesson about being in God. This is what describe rightly quoted Deuteronomy 435 when he answered Jesus, in Mark 12. So what follows in Deuteronomy 6 is a continuation of the Oneness theme.

  15. 8:12

God Alone is one And that commandment is meant to instill in us and understanding all of our being one, heart, one Soul, one mind, our entire being to love the one God. And so that Oneness theme is you me shall love Yahweh with all your heart. And with all your soul and with all your might strength, the complete whole person.

  16. 8:48

All are being totality everything. One not divided her mixed pure in the Bible. Does it mean completely sinless? At always means unmixed blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God the unmixed.

  17. 9:05

Yahweh is our God. Not what our belly. Craves Philippians 3. Not what our eyes want, verse John and not what our boastful Pride Sikhs. But rather it is written you shall fear Yahweh. Your God. And you shall worship him only. Of course, that’s what Jesus Took from Deuteronomy when he is tempted, one of his scriptures you shall worship Yahweh alone.

  18. 9:34

Jesus understood and obeyed. This proving of course Jesus is Love and therefore Unity. With God by putting to death, the Deeds of the body by the spirit. Romans 8 says, we should do. Paul continues for us. If we walk by the spirit you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Oh that’s easy to read, so easy to say. But what God is saying is I want your heart, I want your soul, which we’ll get to what that means. I want your mind because I deserve it because I’m loved and I want that love to be in you, so the people won’t see you. They’ll see me.

  19. 10:18

That’s what John the Baptist means. When he says, I must decrease Christ must increase. That’s what Paul means when he says I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. Can we see a little bit of Christ and each other? I say, yes. Being a member of free or for a cliches. I can see Christ in that individual.

  20. 10:38

I can see why they did that. Look at that, they told me. But I saw something. They didn’t even know. I was watching and hopefully vice versa. Can you see Christ? Because that’s our calling Christ must increase. And I must decrease, Your word. I’ve treasured in my heart that I may not sin against you Psalm 119 and in that same way that Jesus did as manifested in Jesus, his Brethren. By the scriptural, definition will strive to serve the father With all our heart as well, the Hebrew word heart, you might know is the inner man, but mind the wheel. The well the seat of the affections. I like this, the source of thought. This is who we actually are in the Deep subconscious. What we truly love and lean towards. What are my true affections?

  21. 11:39

Do I abhor? What is evil and cling to what is good? Romans 12 do? I truly love my own evil and the world’s greed and covetousness and violence and immorality and pride. Do I genuinely hunger for righteousness? If so, does my life in the things, I Delight in prove that to God and to our brothers and sisters and to the world.

  22. 12:09

If so, we will manifest that we will strive to manifest that Christ and His Holy Apostles repeatedly. Teach about proving our sonship. And our love for God, Matthew 5, John 14, John 15, that is all over the place. Bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. James 1:12, what do we inclined towards?

  23. 12:38

That’s our heart in Tender Love. Therefore, the father exhorts us. To Incline your heart to Yahweh. Joshua 24. Incline your heart to understanding Proverbs to. And so you and I cry out like David. Oh God, inclined my heart to your testimonies. And David knew, of course, the point of this great commandment was Psalm 86 Unite.

  24. 13:11

My Heart To Fear your name, I will give. Thanks to You O Lord my God with all my heart Oneness and unmixed Pure Heart sought for in Psalm 86 back to Deuteronomy 6:5, if you’re still there. And you shall love your way your God, with all your heart and soul.

  25. 13:38

So the word Soul might knows Hebrew. Nefesh, that means the living being The life, the self the passion. The appetite, the emotion, the desire in God’s word will find that your soul that phrase is mostly about our desires. In every desire of your soul. Because your soul desires, this is throughout Deuteronomy his soul lacks. Nothing of what he desires.

  26. 14:17

Ecclesiastes, 6, your name, even your memory is the desire of our soul, our life, our emotion, That night, my soul Longs for you. Indeed, my spirit Within Me. Seeks you diligently. Isaiah 26. This delight in Yahweh. God will stir up in all who diligently seek him. That’s what he’s promised. If we put to death, our own fleshly ways, And seek his way as Isaiah 58. Says, if you’re looking at Isaiah 58:13, 14 actually say that.

  27. 14:55

So, God requires and deserves that we love him with all, our deepest inclinations heart and with all our desires soul, I just want to take a couple of seconds part of that. Is that Grace, that we forgive at that stirs up in, this inclination, is to extend that Grace to others. And I was going to call up brother Cove to help me with it to Second little. He’s laughing already.

  28. 15:23

A little object lesson that I hope will show us that when we’re, and we’re going to see this in the Second Great commandment. When worth forgiving, That’s what it means by and his Commandments are not burdensome. But if you come up here, In reality, I hate, praise the Lord. This is great. Yeah I’m a patient and the week thank you very much.

  29. 16:15

Thanks in the next month. So you see the burden of unforgiveness is just that by the way I got that from an acquaintance decades ago, which she was powerful. It works, it’s true. The burden of unforgiveness. When we love God, with all our heart is just what maintenance is all about, which were studying in Proverbs, it’s emptying ourselves to where we’re not in the game.

  30. 16:39

It’s God, is Christ. We forgive not just like the drop of a hat, but like Jesus says, if they repent, you shall forgive them. And, of course, that forgiveness there’s two kinds as Ryan is taught and many other brothers to come. When we hold on, to a grudge. God, calls that harboring, imagine an anchored boat harboring in a, in a harbor, in a Inland Inlet of Despair and Grief and burdensome but when we no longer exist and let God work through us that burden is lifted.

  31. 17:19

That’s part of what first John means when he says and his Commandments are not burdensome because if you look at the context it to love the children of God and that’s part of what it means to be one with God that burden of unforgiveness is something we allow to go because we no longer live but Christ lives in US. Us.

  32. 17:39

That’s our goal, and remember the word gold in the scriptures means a mark on which to fix the eye Philippians 3. And so that’s what God is looking for, not just for us to forgive people, but to have no burden, maybe next lecture Tatian. That’s what Jesus means when he says I will give you rest. And he talks about he quotes Jeremiah ask for, the ancient path is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls. So you know, kind of a funny little silly object lesson but that’s how God can see us and how our own heart and knows that were weighted down.

  33. 18:16

If yes we’re harboring unforgiveness Does it mean we don’t sort out things Paul taught us that we sort out everything but as far as forgiveness we are there with open arms and as far as our Viewpoint is God working through us. I no longer live but Christ lives in me. That’s our goal, that’s what we’re striving for. And so what about the word might strength? The word might means Force abundance. Same word elsewhere, translated as excessive exceedingly, diligently, greater louder.

  34. 18:58

So take diligent heed to yourselves that were diligent. Joshua 23 is the same word that God says, we should love him with all. Our might, your commandment is exceedingly. Broad, Psalm 119 that word exceedingly, is what he means. You shall love you all with all your might When the sound of the trumpet, grew louder and louder Exodus, 19, that second word. Louder is the same word as might in the great commandment. So, how are we to love God with all our might? Who was the only example and the Old Testament recorded as having kept the great commandment, it’s the only person who is recorded as having kept the great commandment King, Josiah. Let’s go to 2nd Kings 23,

  35. 19:58

Of course, we’re not going to be the whole thing. But verse 25, particularly This is great, Josiah is a great king, he’s a grades, even the names great, just everything about him before him Josiah. There was no king wykeham who turned to Yahweh with all his heart. His inclination, with all his soul, his desires and with all his might, his exceeding devotion.

  36. 20:33

According to all the law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after him, and so, what did he do? I mean, that’s a little Epitaph that tells us a little summary of King Josiah, but the whole chapter is all about how he proved that. And what does it say? Just give you some quotes in chapter 23.

  37. 20:58

It says he broke in pieces. He broke down, he brought out, he cut down, he did away with he burned, he ground. In other words, he was very desirous to cleanse Judah from filthy sinful, idolatrous practices with force and zeal. And the Parallels. For those of us in Christ are kind of obvious First Peter 1. And who is the one who will harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?

  38. 21:37

Zealous for Good. Deeds Titus Chapter 2 so Josiah cleans Judah externally but God says he cleanses us internally in our hearts and Minds through the word of Truth. John 15 year, already clean because of the word I spoke to you. By faith, he cleanses our heart acts 15. And this is great. Let’s go to Luke 1141. This deserves its own exhortation, Luke 11:41, but with the time being, we’ll just look at it. What do we do with that word of God, that cleanses us? We get rid of that burden, if someone has it, I’ve unforgiveness.

  39. 22:26

And look at look 4014. I’m sorry, Luke 1141. This is in the context of the Pharisees giving, great sums of money and blowing trumpets before them. So people will see them giving great gifts And it just simply says, well, we’ll look at verse 40 41. He’s actually speaking to religious people, you foolish ones did not, he who made the outside, make the inside.

  40. 22:55

Also love all your heart mind and soul. But give that, which is within as alms as Charity and behold all things are clean for you become like, God not that doesn’t mean with the power. That just means the mind of God, the spirit the way of thinking, Meekness is all about teachability. We’ve been discussing that and Wednesday night, it’s about not my will but yours be done and that’s the victory Christ one. And those in Christ will pursue that. That’s what it means to be in Christ. Having Christ work through us and that was the real, underlying message of Deuteronomy. From the beginning.

  41. 23:41

God is love. That’s why it’s called the second given. Its what Deuteronomy means the second giving of the law. So the second time around Moses is explicit. This is the point of Leviticus this is the point of Exodus and numbers. It’s love. God Is Love. Therefore, let’s love him back with our entire being outside of the Psalms and Proverbs and Song of Solomon.

  42. 24:10

The word love and heart appear in Deuteronomy more than any other place. There’s a reason for that. The word heart and love appear more than any other place in Deuteronomy are other than most three books Psalms Proverbs song. And so the most powerful and beneficial question their Force for us to ask when were reading any passage of scripture is, what does it say about God?

  43. 24:38

Doesn’t matter what sentence urea. What does that say about God? There’s always spiritual healing and true knowledge in the answer to that. So described in Mark 12 had asked Jesus, what was the foremost commandment of God and in the gospels, Jesus always answered. By connecting this with the Second Great commandment which is you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Which is not a standalone sentence. It’s an actual summary of what the real Second Great commandment is in.

  44. 25:15

All of Leviticus 19 is the real Second Great commandment. Love your neighbor as yourself is simply a bumper sticker version. It’s a truncated momentary, easy to digest sentence. It’s a summary. It’s at you. When we go there, you’ll see it’s actually half of a sentence because it’s a summary. And it’s so that people would know that the first and second commandments are actually the same exact commandment.

  45. 25:43

Let’s go to Leviticus 19. Medicus 19, which is where Jesus went. And it’s really like from verse 10 to least 19, but for time, we’ll just read 16 through 18.

  46. 26:05

Leviticus 19. This is where Jesus went 16. You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people and you are not to act against the soul or life of your neighbor. I am Yahweh, this is so beautiful. It’s a it’s a Divine exclamation point and Leviticus particularly the Commandments are given. He says, I am Yahweh.

  47. 26:32

What are we supposed to perceive that? We remember that. 3,000 years ago. The nation surrounding Israel. Never had any laws like this ever. Imagine a country that has a law that says you shall not covet. America’s number one wall is, you shall cut it and we will help you. That’s what it is, isn’t it? We know that in fact, forward used to say the man, Ford America’s businesses business.

  48. 26:59

Well, what kind of a slogan is that that’s hardly a turtle. So the point being that with God’s word. This is unique. I am Yahweh. Your not going to find this anyplace else. So if you’re my people, Reflect, this verse 17, you shall not hate your brother in your heart. You may surely reprove your neighbor, but show not incur sin because of him, you shall not take Vengeance. Nor bear.

  49. 27:32

Remember the bear the walking? I was walking with that burden of unforgiveness nor bear or cherish any Grudge or anger against the sons of your people but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am Yahweh.

  50. 27:49

No nation has a law like that except God. And that was the real underlying message that God is love and, and he’s won. And we should love him back with all our Oneness. Everything that we’ve been given, which is a heart soul and mind and strength, Jesus adds the word mind to the great commandment because if you see a mark 12, there’s four things that’s not the Septuagint, that’s no other place. He wants us to know for often means the four corners of the world all over the entirety.

  51. 28:21

And so he’s saying complete. He’s Jesus can do this. He’s the son of God. heart soul, mind and strength, it’s the whole being and so This passage in Leviticus is designed by God to renovate. Looks like that word. Many of you, many of us have renovated our own homes because it was maybe 20, 30, 40 years, old and needed some updating.

  52. 28:47

Maybe there’s bad Plumbing or something bad electrical. We still haven’t met, but the point being that, you know, we renovate that re any word that sorry is really good. Do again, do over. Rebuke reproof things. We already know someone has to say it again. This passage is designed by God to renovate. The True Heart of the sons of God, to motivate Us in the knowledge and joy and Thanksgiving.

  53. 29:19

To crucify to crucify our natural self centeredness. That’s meekness blessed are the non self-centered. The meek for they shall inherit the earth. When there’s arguments, you can tell who self-centered, who isn’t doesn’t mean there’s no hope. For the person who is in fact once we realize that we change,

  54. 29:41

That’s part of what it means to love God. With all our being, We partake of divine nature says Peter and we all go. Yeah, that’s in the Kingdom. He says, now he’s talking about now. Second Peter 1, 1 through 11 by putting together, the scriptures walking in the light were manifesting divine nature through his Spirit. Now, the way his son revealed to create Unity of the spirit and purpose in the fear.

  55. 30:11

The light of God Oneness with many in the way of Christ without hypocrisy one. That’s what if he kept reading with Atticus? 1919. You shall not breed together. Two kinds of your cattle. You shall not sow your field. With two unmixed without hypocrisy. If there it is, the Second Great commandment. Remember, love your neighbor as yourself every time. Peter, Paul James jeonju, Jesus, quote, that it’s always a summary.

  56. 30:42

He’s always saying go back and look at the whole second great commandment. It’s not just you, Sheila, it’s how to do it, that’s what makes it Divine and it’s in Leviticus 19, the whole so God’s provision of God’s Ecclesia. Is so designed First Corinthians 12. God has organized the Ecclesia. Paul says, just as he wished.

  57. 31:09

It’s designed to help build us up in the ways of God known here in Leviticus as your neighbor and the sons of your people. And so in the loving-kindness and truth of God, he delivers that to us so that we might manifest or deliver it to others. And so we don’t take Vengeance.

  58. 31:29

When were bear any Grudge. That word bear means to cherish anger. In our heart towards a brother-sister. That’s that was Verse 18. We saw that but rather we must love our neighbors as ourselves. Why good question? This is how we share in divine nature. Now, morally, second, Peter 1. This is how we participate in Christ now.

  59. 31:58

Who gave himself up for us? Ephesians, 5. This is how we are refined and others are brought to God’s light. Now, John 17. This is what it means to fulfill the law of Christ God’s name. His way. His purpose is one, isn’t it? And so he does not show partiality because he’s one he’s not divided. For he himself is kind to ungrateful and evil people. Says Jesus.

  60. 32:32

And so we don’t just do good to those who are easy to help spiritually or physically. Leviticus 19, they’re all connected versus Teaching one thing summed up in Romans 12 as lat agape love be without hypocrisy abhorring. What is evil clinging to what is good? Having a devoted family love for one another in Philadelphia in brotherly love. And so, as the Proverbs say, hatred stirs up Strife, but love covers all transgressions.

  61. 33:12

Forgive forgive us of our debts. The number one thing, Jesus commented on as we also have past tense. As we also have past tense, forgiving, those who sin against us. We meditate on various scriptures that command and reveal Godly love in the face of misconduct or a refining cost to one’s Pride or self-centeredness. That’s meekness.

  62. 33:41

And then we do it by faith and thereby overcome evil with good. Romans 12, whether to Brethren or to the world. This is the way of life. That Christ in His Holy Apostles, taught and walked. And this is the beautiful thing. This kind of love sets God’s people apart from religions and philosophy. Because of its Divine definition origin and purpose. This is how we are perfected in love the goal of our commandment says Paul.

  63. 34:20

We overcome various trials and situations by humbly choosing in faith to obey God’s voice which we do here through the scriptures. From his already revealed word serving up loving-kindness, and Truth to others. All because of God’s love, patience, forgiveness, Grace, and Truth, and discipline in Christ which we receive and need daily. James said, therefore says putting aside all filthiness An abundance of malice in humility, received the word that has been implanted, which is able to save your souls, but prove yourselves doers of the word and not merely hearers who delude themselves. So as we go through the scriptures, we see meekness humility, gentleness, gentleness is simply the manifestation of humility humility is that which has already been. Meek, says, Jesus in Matthew, 5 and elsewhere. And it’s already accepted.

  64. 35:24

God’s will for one’s life. Therefore, we’re teachable. This Meek and humble active participation in the sufferings and Glory of Christ. Is how we prove John 15. We love God and thus fulfill the two great Commandments joyously giving. Thanks to the father.

  65. 35:47

And the outcome is perfectly stated as we always go to James 1:12. Let’s go there. This will be the last scripture that we go to and James 1:12. So, of high-value to memorize this particular scripture.

  66. 36:03

This is in a context of enduring and having your faith perfected through trials. Where it just says, as a brief comment. Blessed is the man James 1:12, who perseveres we discussed this in Sunday school. The young people, it’s just like the football halfback fullback. You know, they’re taught at well, all the runners are too when you’re tackled the first time.

  67. 36:28

You keep going. You keep your legs driving. You persevered. You keep going. You don’t stop your legs for nothing until they remove your ability to move your legs. You keep turning. That’s perseverance. That’s what God is saying and uses. Olympia Olympics, all the time, does Paul. And so that perseverance is what you? And I maintain we keep our legs moving even when we’re tackled because we might get that extra yard or two or breakthrough. And so verse 12 blessed is the man who perseveres under that experiment, that’s the word trial. It means under an experiment for once. We’ve been approved, all you do love me. Genesis 22.

  68. 37:09

He will receive the Crown of Life which the Lord has promised to those who love him. That’s the point goes all the way back to Deuteronomy and the Second Great commandment those who love him. Our proven by being a persevering and enduring God is love. Especially seen in sacrificing. His only unique is what it means. Begotten son, Jesus Christ, and he’s worthy of my love in return. you shall of here’s a god commanding that we left him you shall of Yahweh, your God With all your heart can’t and with all your soul, fill in your own name, and with all your strength, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself and actually, in these costly emblems given to us by God. Jesus proclaims and demonstrates to you. And I there is no other commandment greater than these. Thank you for listening to the good christadelphians talks podcast.
