Welcome to the good Christian talks podcast. I’m Levi. And I’m Chris. Thank you so much for joining us this week. On this podcast. We select one taco week to help each one of us. Get the Bible in our daily news feed. We post at the start of each week for you to listen with a short entry beforehand to kind of set the stage for the talk. You’re about to hear and now let’s hear more about this week’s talk.
- 0:45
Welcome to Good. Chris set off you and talks podcast. Once again, this is Brother Bryan Adams for the Morristown New Jersey cliche. I am joined with me by my beautiful wife, Rachel, hello,
- 0:58
the title of the talk. You’re previewing for this week is called the righteousness of faith and it was given by Brother, Nigel small, at the time from Echo Lake. Now currently from Morristown, Rach joint of provide, a little bit of background on Nigel for some context or yeah, sure. So last week we posted the talk by brother Ben pitcher, which was part of the series growing Godly families.
- 1:19
And I just have to say to Nigel’s credit, he’s a father of three teenagers are all teenagers now, and at one point when Nigel had to wake up really early and commute far for work, he his wife and his three kids would wake up at like, 3:30 4:00 in the morning and do the Bible readings before he went to work for the day and the kids would go back to sleep before school, but I just think that’s just such a wonderful Testament to him and the importance that he has in his life was put Oh God, first in the word of God to open up the day.
- 1:47
Yeah. He’s a very passionate brother. Very loud and emphatic and kind of comes to life as the truth in his heart. Literally is like, bubbling bubbling out of him. Yeah, we joke that when he speaks on Sundays one of the babies can sleep and you’ll be able to see this coming out in the end, the talk now, it’s interesting because he covers the topic of faith and you would think that like, for the most part with the increase Adelphia, we’ve kind of covered the length and breadth and depth and width.
- 2:14
Of Faith. But thankfully there is always some extra little gem to find. And in this talk I’m going to highlight one that when he starts talking about the reference. From Hebrews chapter 11, verse 27, that was a gem that he brought to life for me. That when I heard it, it became a runner up for my new favorite verse and his explanation of why will make sense.
- 2:40
Yeah, this is definitely a wonderful talk. I remember liking it when he gave it and we knew we wanted to put Nigel on as one of our talks. We were going through some of the ones that we decided that this was one of our favorites that he had given, at least that we had heard at our meeting was once again, the title is the righteousness of Faith by Brother, Nigel small.
- 2:58
And we pray that it may be a message that is able to extend your Zeal for the return of our Lord Christ. Yeah, we also again, when I think Chris and Levi for having us on this is our last week. Hope Doing the good Crystal finstock podcast unless you want to bring us back by popular request. But if you can’t get enough of us or at the very least of the wisdom of Rach, she has a podcast that she’s been working on for about a year now called Discerning daughters. Yes so that’s a podcast designed for Sisters in Christ to discuss the word of God and we’ve had some episodes with other sisters coming on And discussing relevant issues as it pertains to being a sister in Christ and just a woman in general, so come check that out if you’re interested. Discerning daughters and it is a podcast for Sisters in Christ. I think we had talked about you coming on as well like in doing like a special special episodes with about marriage and stuff. I would love to in the works.
- 3:52
Anyway I’m on it. So for today’s talk, I do for today’s talk, the righteousness of Faith by Brother. Nigel small, the agitation this morning brothers and sisters is the righteousness of Faith. It’s simply doing right in the eyes of God, allowing our faith to lead us. To do that which is right. Which is just and that which is up right in the eyes of almighty God all too often or walk in Christ. What want to lead us differently after the flesh? Howbeit brothers and sisters as we Traverse is pathway that leads to God’s Eternal Kingdom.
- 4:28
It is vitally important that we strive each day and that we learn from the examples of biblical truth to do those things that are just and there are Op right in the eyes of God. Now. All of us, perhaps.
- 4:50
No of Paul’s letter to the Galatians in chapter 11, it has been depicted ever. So often as the book of faith, when you open up the book and you start reading brothers and sisters, we read of Enoch and we read of a bell will read of Abraham of Isaac and of Jacob and so on.
- 5:13
And we all have the ID here are the Heroes of Faith. Well, that’s not quite right, you know, brothers and sisters. The chapter in Hebrews 11 is about one hero. And that hero is faith. The chapter is not about Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and what they did it’s about what faith in tell them to do brothers and sisters and you read constantly throat that chapter by faith they did this by faith they did that by faith. They dish face brothers and sisters. Is that quality that makes Heroes out of college. Faith makes us do things that we wouldn’t do normally Abraham, you would remember twice denied, his wife to save his own skin, he made an agreement with her when he left or of the car. These these men were not born with natural coverage, brothers and sisters.
- 6:20
Just like you. And I, who were born into this world with a clean slate, brothers and sisters. And we learned about the Divine name in our Lord and Master Jesus Christ and what he has done for us. And so we convinced by him and we are By his promises.
- 6:39
The more we read is the more we learn. It’s the more we are persuaded brothers and sisters. The more our faith grows in price, Jesus.
- 6:53
This is what the Bible has to tell us about faith. The Bible tells us the faith listens Faith. Cometh. By Hearing in Romans chapter 10, Faith lives, faith without works, is dead, James chapter 2 and verse 17. Faith loves Faith, which worketh by love, and Galatians 5:6 Faith. Overcome For whatsoever is born of God overcometh.
- 7:25
The world even our faith. First John, 5 and 4. And lastly, brothers and sisters, Faith, pleases without faith. It is impossible to please God, Hebrews 11 46. So faith is that quality? That listens lives loves that overcome and that pleases brothers and sisters and that’s what the Apostle Paul is talking about. Out in Hebrews chapter 11.
- 7:56
You see, Faith, brothers and sisters as demonstrated by Paul. Is that quality in us? That says, I can’t do it, but God, can it is. The means whereby, we climb over our own weaknesses. And so the individuals in Hebrews chapter 11 are pure incidentals. It is the power of Faith, brothers and sisters that were getting them by Faith by Faith by faith.
- 8:28
They did all the things that we read about in that chapter, Low in the very first verse of Hebrews 11. Verse 1, we read faith. Is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of Things Not Seen substance. That means faith and things. We can’t even see brothers and sisters. Faith Brethren is that, is that quality, that close the future, which something when in our minds is really not even there. It’s so embellishes our imagination to make them real in our lives, brothers and sisters and so lives within us. We’re all cowards, we’re all weak brothers and sisters. We have terrible shortcomings, each and every day of Our Lives. My dear brothers and sisters Sometimes we selfish malicious convictions.
- 9:25
All the works of the flesh. Lies deeply in our characters, in our minds brothers and sisters. I’m thankful and holy. So what Faith is that Absolute Energy that can get us right over the top of that brothers and sisters providing we let it it has to listen. It has to live, it has to love, it has to overcome and it has to place. Just by way of demonstration and Hebrews chapter 11 and verse 27 we read brothers and sisters by faith. Moses forsook Egypt, not fearing the Wrath of the king. For he and Jude are seeing him.
- 10:13
Who is invisible, think about that? Brothers and sisters? You can’t see the invisible brothers and sisters, Moses dead. Pharaoh was making all kinds of concessions after concession brother and sisters and more. Is it was there standing as the mother of God, refusing to accept from them from him? The instructions of the king of the world at that time.
- 10:47
The most powerful man in the world sitting in this Golden Throne and flanked by all his armies brothers and sisters. Given concession. After concession and Moses was there standing before him and behind him, he can see. Even him, who was invisible Through faith brother and sisters. And he let Hebrews 11 and verse 11 we read through. Faith also Sara herself, received strength to conceive seed and was delivered of a child when she was past age because she judged him faithful who had promised The operative word, brothers, and sisters in that verse is herself. Why is the emphasis on herself?
- 11:51
Well what is it? We might want to ask brother and sisters. What is it? That Sarah had done before because she did not believe what is it? She had done before because she did not believe. She tried to do it for somebody else. Remember, brothers and sisters. She turned to Abraham when she says go in unto my handmaid, I’ll give her to you. Even hear God that she might produce. She she had done it through someone else or try to do it through someone else.
- 12:27
So in times past Sarah, got someone else to do it but by faith brothers and sisters. Now the record says Has Sarah herself, she had to come to that realization, that it has to go through her even as God had instructed and he will produce through her. The foundation. See that was a marvelous thing, but in the sisters for that woman to them, The woman was passed that time of life.
- 12:59
She has gone beyond the stage, where nature would produce a child. She now believes that God can and will do it here in her very body. But not only that brothers and sisters even more interesting. She now believed that she would have the foundation. See, I’m not just a child. She never believed that before brothers and sisters. Now, look at the what the Apostle Paul has to say about Sarah in Hebrews 11.
- 13:34
It says, she judged him at verse 11 faithful. Now, she does judged him faithful who had promised. Now, how does the Apostle know that Sarah’s faith and believe, is that she would have more than just a child? Because when the boy came along, when Isaac him along the record, says, Sarah laughed. Not so, in unbelief, I don’t think because Isaac means laughter Laughter on Aisa is the same word, brothers and sisters and so she is at she laughed and this is what the Apostle Paul had to say.
- 14:16
In fact, if we go back to Genesis, what we would read in Genesis chapter 21, verse 6 and 7 we read. And Sarah said God had made me to laugh. So that all that hair. Me will laugh with me and he said, 47, who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck. But she only had one brothers and sisters but she conceived the foundation seed and though she never believed that before. Now she does and how marvelous that is. But his insistence, it’s the power of faith that work it in US.
- 15:02
Then if we trying to hijack, it says by faith, Isaac blessed, Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. But you and I know private brothers and sisters between the Boise. Saw was the first born. And he had every single right to the birthright and the blessing. And he was Isaac’s boy, wasn’t he?
- 15:31
On the other hand, Jacob was loved by his mother and so Mom and Dad hadn’t agree brothers and sisters with those twins. There were serious marital problems in that home, brothers and sisters. When we think of Isaac, he was sort of an ordinary fellow really dwelling in tents and of the three Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he is the least spoken up. He didn’t have much of an exciting life like the others and he was absolutely mesmerized by the Elder, Son by this boy and his hunting abilities.
- 16:14
We would remember he can carry a big day and come to his father and says, look what I’ve got, look what I’ve got and as I can’t wait to taste of the Savory meat as the record sighs. Isaac was very carnally minded at this stage of his life was See and Isaac loved Esau because the record says in Genesis 25 that he did eat of his venison, but Rebecca loved Jacob, Isaac’s choice at that stage. My dear brothers and sisters was entirely fleshly So when the time came for him to bless them, when his eyes were dim, you know, all of what transpired brother and sister, don’t you? How he blessed.
- 17:05
Jacob, he deceived his brother and he went before his father. and he blessed him and when he saw came back, Genesis 27 verse 33 we read and Isaac trembled exceedingly When he saw came back before him, and brought the Savory meat and it’s Rumble exceedingly. The record says, and he says who, who is this? Where is he?
- 17:36
That are taking medicine abroad. Hit me. And I have eaten of it. All before thou camest. and have blessed him, he says, Yeah, and he shall be blessed. Absolutely nothing he can do at that stage of the game, it says Isaac trembled exceedingly brothers and sisters, the Hebrew word sharrod, suggest trembling with Tara Trumbull would regret rambling. The record says he trembled and he trembled and he trembled because he was caught and he knew it, but the sisters and he knew more of a moreover that there is absolutely nothing that Could do at this stage.
- 18:26
He finally got the method, but insists he finally got it, right? And so he says, you shall be blessed. The Apostle Paul commented on this occasion and Hebrews 12. He says, for ye know how that afterward at verse 17, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected for, he found no place of repentance, though, he sought it. Carefully with tears, even Esau the son, whom he loved. So dearly brothers and sisters, even Esau’s tears, could not change the mind of his face.
- 19:05
Her as the apostles. so imagine this boy that he loves so much for his hunting prowess, Romancing in the love of this child brothers and sisters all burned up in him from the day of his Youth and now he knew That God had showed him finally and he by faith had finally been convinced and believe that this is the right decision and he couldn’t change it and he wouldn’t change it. And he wouldn’t turn back the hands of time, even though the son whom he loved sorted with you, it’s the power of Faith, brothers, and sisters.
- 19:51
That does that in our life, Isn’t it? My faith, Jacob Hebrews 11 21, when he wasn’t dying blessed, both the sons of Joseph and worshipped leaning upon the top of his staff. And you know exactly what happened there. Also, in that record, it’s no new record button. The sisters we read it time and time and time again. And so Joseph.
- 20:23
Brought his children to his father so that he might bless them before he died. And we understand how Jacob crossed his hands at that point in time putting this right, time in the head of the younger he frame and his left hand on the Elder monastic and joys of tried to correct his father, brothers and sisters. And Jacob said simply said, leave it there. Leave it there and you might think what does faith have to do with that brothers and sisters?
- 20:51
Well, we don’t understand these things brother and sisters because we don’t live like these people, but you would remember just a few chapters earlier that Lisa was about to kill his brother for stealing his Blessing and his Birthright. And he had to run away just an idea of how much it means to them brothers and sisters. It’s a matter of life and death, really? Jacob.
- 21:16
Loved Joseph. The record says more than all his children. Make no mistake about it more than all his children brothers and sisters and he suffered immensely at the hands of his brothers and his father, lost him for 17 years and spent the last 17 years of his life with him before he died. And you would remember the joy in his heart brothers and sisters when he was told that the boy was still alive. Jacob said, I just want to live my nice on the lot before I die. Now for a love like that brothers and sisters appearance, would do anything anything.
- 22:05
Just imagine the pressure on Jacob to put his right hand on the head of Ephraim against the son. He loved dearly for far better reasons than Isaac. Loved Esau. Just imagine brothers and sisters. I’m God changed his mind. Change the mind of one because he made the wrong choice and Jacob stayed, his hand and said not, so my show.
- 22:33
Nacho. Joseph would have walked out of that place with a very heavy heart brothers and sisters saying it’s not fair. It’s not fair, but again there was a wider view than flesh, brothers, and sisters a wider view than flesh and blood in the lives, and character of these men of old. It’s all done by faith, and it’s not what we choose brothers and sisters, but it’s what God chooses in our lives, for his plan and purpose of Salvation, that he has, which we so eagerly seek in our lives, as we look forward with a Of anticipation. The day when his son will, in fact, return to this heart and re-establish his kingdom.
- 23:22
Now, let’s talk about the righteousness of faith for a moment. And Hebrews 11 after talking about Abraham of Isaac. And of Jacob, we read the following in verse 16, in Hebrews 11:6 T. But now they desire a better country that is a Heavenly where God is not ashamed to be called their God.
- 23:47
The word called is the Greek word, meaning surname. In other words, God is not ashamed to be sure named their God. Like a woman who’s married and her husband take on her husband’s last name and she’s very proud so to speak to be called by his last name. She grabbed him around the arms and she’s taking on his last name and she’s very proud and pleased to be called by his last. And so God is called in the Bible is you and I know brothers and sisters, the god of Abraham, the god of Isaac, and the god of Jacob.
- 24:24
But why did he stop with these? Amen. Why, why did he stop with these treatment, why? He’s not the god of Moses and the god of David. And so on the god of Steve and the god of myself, and the god of your, why is it? It’s tough with these three men? Well, let’s take a look, brother and sisters.
- 24:44
What’s Abraham’s title in the Bible? The father isn’t that Abraham? The father of the faithful, but was Isaac’s title in the Bible. Hebrews 11 verse 17, the only begotten son Now, where does Jacob fit into that equation? What is he called in the Bible? Israel, isn’t it? Brothers and sisters Israel. His name was changed from Jacob to Israel. A chosen people isn’t that, right? That’s just natural Israel.
- 25:28
But more importantly, a spiritual Israel to involve All Nations upon the Earth. That’s represented for us today by what we call the occasion. No more Jewel, no more Greek, no more Bond, nor free, but the sisters no more male or female. The record says for We Are All One in Christ, Jesus.
- 25:57
And if we consider the Book of Genesis about the occasion, where Isaac is finally, handed over the promises to his son. Jacob, what we read in verse 3 is very interested in Genesis chapter 28, it says God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee that thou mayest be what a multitude of people. Now that Fresh Brothers and Sisters concerning is not used concerning Abraham.
- 26:26
It’s not used concerning. Jacob, Isaac sorry, an assembly of people. It’s only used concerning Jacob, an assembly of people, the church and there are many of them to their brothers and sisters so we need not go any further. God’s whole entire purpose is Incorporated in these three men. His whole name is there, so he doesn’t have to be the god of Steve, the god of myself, the god of building. God doesn’t have to be, his whole name is Incorporated in these three men.
- 27:02
Don’t you take a little closer look at Abraham? Yahweh had spoken to him in saying, get thee out of thy country and from thy Kindred, and from thy Father’s House unto a land that I will show thee. And the record in Genesis says Abraham left all of the college not knowing whether he went and obeyed God, to leave the Comforts of his own country, and his Kindred a well-developed and sophisticated Society, brothers and sisters. This is join in a Strange, Land in Israel. That’s got to be one of the most difficult difficult things for want to do what the record says he did it by faith. It’s one thing to leave your home and your family know to leave your parents brothers and sisters to join me in this Strange Land.
- 27:51
No, that’s a very, very difficult thing to do. And I had to make the conscious choice at one point in time. In my life when I left. And I, my great country and Kindred and father’s house to the United States. To be joined with my One very, very difficult. Very, very emotional decision. But in sister’s yet Abraham did it and not to stray away too much from the focal point of this. Excitation Abraham is immediately mentioned after Noah in the book of Hebrews and Hebrews 11:7. It says by faith, Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet moved with fear prepared, an ark to the saving of his house by the, which he condemned the world and became heir to the righteousness, which is by faith. No, let’s talk about the righteousness of faith in relation to Abraham, since he Is considered the father of the faithful.
- 28:53
What do you understand by that phrase brothers and sisters? The righteousness of Faith, which is also the focal point of our excitation here this morning. Let’s see if we can demonstrate this from the Bible by following just a few Trails this morning now, come with me to Romans, Paul’s letter to the Romans chapter nine.
- 29:13
Common adverse 30 We read brothers and sisters. What shall we say, then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained on to righteousness. Even the righteousness, which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, had not attained the law of righteousness, the Gentiles, followed not after righteousness and founded, the Jews were looking everywhere, but in sisters for it, but could not find it.
- 29:55
Why? Why it is? They cannot find it. It’s with the inclusion of one word, brothers and sisters in verse 21 and that word is law. That’s the reason why the Jews could never find the righteousness of Faith because they were looking for it after the law. Every going to look for righteousness under the law blameless and sisters with a great deal of good deeds and so forth, you’ll never find it.
- 30:28
Law cannot save us. It couldn’t save them, then it can save us today, it couldn’t save them. But why are the other hands the Gentiles found that no chart with me, if you will To the book of Isaiah, chapter 51. And we read in verse 1, hearken to me ye that follow after righteousness, he that seek the Lord look, upon the rock when CR you and to the whole of the pit when she are dead, look unto Abraham verse to your father. And I want to share with a barrier. So, instead of looking after the law to find righteousness, we have to look unto Abraham.
- 31:18
Once you know the story of Abraham, he’s promised this are and it’s not coming. So, look what God did. God brought him out on that. Palestinians Chi as a record says in Genesis, brought them for a board and says, look no towards heaven and tell the Stars. If they’ll be able to number them, and he said unto him so shall thy seed, And he believed the record says he believed and it was counted to him for righteousness, he believed brothers and sisters so shall thy seed be, I like you to listen to this very carefully brothers and sisters.
- 32:07
It’s not so important to know Abraham believed as it is to know what he believed. And what Abraham believed brothers and sisters was humanly impossible. And God counted that to him for righteousness. The go and have this child. He was 100 years old and you’re going to have a child. Multitude of Nations going to come out of there. And so he brought it won’t talk about Palestinians, casually locked up and says look at the stars number them, you can’t. So shall thy seed be and Abraham believed and that was counted to him for righteousness.
- 32:58
When a person believe, brothers and sisters, that God works in their lives. Where there may never ever reach perfection. But by the influence of almighty God, they can achieve something that is absolutely out of the reach of human kind. God comes that to us for righteousness. That’s what he comes for righteousness, but not be any better than the world and the people of the world. But it because of what we believe, brother, the systems. what Fate has impaled us and cause us to believe that’s the difference in our lives, become are every Sunday to seek God’s face and to seek forgiveness for the things we are different than what what we believe brothers and sisters, that’s wherein lies, the different Absolutely out of the reach of humankind. God come back to that person for righteousness. Now if you think that’s right, or if you don’t think that’s right, rather less than today, In Romans chapter 4 verse 19. Paul writes.
- 34:09
Concerning Abraham being not weak in faith. He considered not his own body. Now, dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered, not at the promises of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God and being fully fully persuaded that.
- 34:32
What he had promised, he was able also to perform And therefore, it was imputed to him for righteousness. No, it was not written to for his sake, only brothers and sisters, that it was imputed to him. But for us also to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up, Jesus Christ from the dead.
- 35:02
Can you raise the dead brothers and sisters? Can I raise the dead? I can’t raise the dead but I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. That’s what I believe. That’s my conviction. That’s your conviction, brothers and sisters and that’s why we all here in this one. Place after the one partner, after the seven name of Jesus Christ, that one day, we too shall be raised Incorruptible to live a life that was meant to be from the very foundations of the world and that’s what God Come to us for righteousness. For the scripture hath concluded all under sin, haven’t it brother insisted that the Promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before Faith came, we were kept under the law. Paul says, shut up unto the faith that should come afterwards.
- 36:03
Wherefore the law was a Schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith. but after that, faith has come, we are no longer under a Schoolmaster For who we are. But insistence, we are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. for as many of us as have been baptized into Christ, Have put on Christ.
- 36:34
There is neither Jew, nor Greek. There is neither Bond nor free. There is, neither male nor female for, We Are All One in Christ, Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, or if you be in Christ, Paul says, ye are Abraham’s seed and heirs inheritance to the promise. as we come here this morning, my beloved brothers and sisters before us is the emblem tokens of bread and wine. A symbol of the body and blood of our Lord and Master, even Jesus Christ.
- 37:15
Him who they’re crucified him? Who they slaughter him, who their mutts on calvary’s crossed. but after three days, he was risen from the dead. and so as we come here to remember him this morning brothers and sisters Let us eat and drink. Not on to domination. but on to life, My forever.
