Welcome to the good Christian talks podcast. I’m Levi and I’m Chris. Thank you so much for joining us this week on this podcast. We select one taco week to help each one of us get the Bible in our daily news feed. We post at the start of each week for you to listen.
- 0:30
With a short intro before hand to kind of set the stage for the talk. You’re about to hear and now let’s hear more about this week’s talk.
- 0:44
Hi everyone. This is James diliberto and I’m guest hosting for this week to talk. One of the things that I’ve Loved about this podcast. Is that Levi and Chris have done such a great job. Just getting a diversity of speakers from different generations and countries and time periods and a few weeks ago when they released episode 64 by Brother Islip Collier, although the audio was rough and we didn’t really know the year of the old tape. I love that talk and I was so excited to get to listen to one of those classic.
- 1:14
Ye are Brethren who has left such a legacy of written material. That’s probably on most of our bookshelves. But who must younger Generations would have never gotten a chance to hear speak live. And as Levi said in that episode, this is part of our communities Heritage and our history and we’re really blessed in this age of technology to actually have access to so much of their material to listen to and if you’re new to the podcast to my my favorite back episodes are similar.
- 1:42
It’s so great having the ability. Leti to put such spoken personality to these writers and it really adds another dimension to their contributions that we use regularly like brother Dennis Colette in episode 52 John Martin in 46 HP, Mansfield and 22 the opening episode Bob Lloyd in episode 1 and episode 19. Harry tenants. He is able which has probably my favorite talk of all time. And if you listen to it, you’ll find out why but this week’s talk is from another.
- 2:14
Those old Brethren brother Alfred Norris from the UK. This was delivered at the 1995 Eastern Christian Bible School in the US just a couple of fun facts while you’re listening. I was recently talking to Brother Brian Luke if his house and when I mentioned brother Norris speaking and sharing it on this podcast Uncle Brian reflected that when he opened his mouth it was like poetry he had such a natural way with words it made you think he was reading but he never looked down. So precise was his language.
- 2:44
Image you could have transcribed it and had a well-written book. So that’s a lot coming from a book publisher. And if you listen to it, you’ll know what he means. It’s amazing and if you like listening to brother Harry tenant, you will probably like listening to brother Norris speaking. It’s that similar style British structure and the way that they speak another fun fact is that you is actually pretty small and older brother in my meeting said that when he spoke here in Melbourne Australia once when he walked in everyone Shocked because he was one of the shortest speaking Brethren they never met and they actually would bring a little stepping stool up onto the platform so he could step on it and reach the top of the podium which was funny telling me this fact. But anyway, it helps me sort of get a picture in my mind his voice betrays his size and that old British accent makes you think that you’re watching a movie his arguments are just so convincing his use of language is so amazing and yet he’s also so jovial light-hearted very ER active at the audience in conversational at times this talk is just going to pull you in the entire Bible School series was a 6 talk series delivered under the general theme of I believe in Jesus Christ, and these are available on the GT extended podcast. If you want to hear the rest of them, which I’m sure you will this series is essentially taking fundamental first principles from our statement of faith and powerfully affirming them.
- 4:08
Biblically whilst unpacking the so what aspect as in why they make a difference this is class. Were five and it’s entitled. I believe in the kingdom of God one of our most fundamental doctrines, but he opens it up in a very interactive way and catches the audience and all of us on our Tendencies to answer too quickly without thinking through the spiritual extent of the question biblically and he does an amazing job of affirming and yet expanding the concept one of the things I’ve Loved about this class. Is that over the past 10 years.
- 4:42
I’ve probably listen to this class 10 times. And I never get tired of it each year. In fact when I first heard it, I was so impacted by the way, it challenged my Paradigm about what the kingdom of God is namely that it equals the Millennium. But in reality that limited definition didn’t fit the so many Old Testament and New Testament passages that I had probably just relegated to the back of my mind to figure out later. But this class was the penny drop moment that figured all of that out which set me up on my own path of Discovery so much so that I own At least turned it into a whole six Study Bible School series myself, but that all came out just from this talk and I remember wishing when I first heard it that he was alive so that I could give brother Norris a call and talk to him about it as I’m sure you’ll understand from hearing this class.
- 5:32
You will see that he easily could have done a whole series on this whole topic, but he slots it into this bigger concept of I believe in Jesus Christ, but nevertheless this was the Catalyst for me. And I’m just so excited that it might be something amazing for you to hear and please just enjoy listening to it. So, this is Brother Alfred Morris on I believe in the kingdom of God from 1995.
- 5:57
You might like a little explanation as to how are you going to manage to get through the cities in this very short period left. So this is the schedule. I think schedule at home. I would have said schedule. This is the schedule today one theme on the number 9. I believe in the kingdom of God tomorrow a correction from my mistake, which has been reproduced in the program two together numbers 10 and 11. I believe in baptism for the remission of sins and in the Holy Spirit.
- 6:26
And on Sunday and the excitation I want to incorporate the essential material of number 12. I Believe In The Fellowship of saints, so we’ll get them all live inside that way if God Wills. I’d like you to indulge in a bit further vocal exercise. I’m going to put you three questions and I think those who would say is this so we’ll say aye those who don’t will say no question.
- 6:52
Number one. They’re all about the kingdom of God. Question is I all know remember is the kingdom of God in heaven. I had about seven Nos and one. Yes, and I heard distinctly about a hundred fifty-four abstentions. Can we try again with your extensions with a louder number of decibels is the kingdom of God in heaven? I think there’s an overwhelming vote. That is not.
- 7:20
Thank you. Is the kingdom of God presently on the Earth? That’s another know is the kingdom of God in our hearts. I think I heard it on stimulant which might have been a guess. But anyway, the other women got in. All three cases was no the kingdom of God is not in heaven. The kingdom of God is Not on the earth. The kingdom of God is not in our hearts before I adjudicate on those.
- 7:46
I’d like to recite what the statement of faith has to say about the kingdom of God and briefly indicate why it has to say it says it at Great length. There’s a lot about the kingdom of God in the statement of faith. I have about all thirteen or fourteen Clauses and there could have been more all of which have Something to say about it.
- 8:02
So I left out the bits that we can do without with the dotted lines. And this is the abbreviated form of what the Birmingham amended statement of faith has to say about the kingdom of God. God will set up a kingdom on the earth which will overthrow all others and change them into the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ.
- 8:21
Next the kingdom. He that is Jesus Christ will establish will be the Kingdom of Israel restored is a territory formerly occupied. Next this restoration of the Kingdom again to Israel will involve the ingathering of God’s chosen but scattered Nation the Jews and the building again of Jerusalem to become the Throne of the Lord and the Metropolis of the whole Earth. Next the governing body of the Kingdom’s I established will be the Brethren of Christ of all Nations developed by resurrection and constituting with Christ as the head the collective Seed of Abraham in whom All Nations will be blessed.
- 9:01
Next the kingdom of God. Thus constituted will continue A Thousand Years. Next a law will be established which will go forth to the nation’s resulting in the abolition of war and filling the Earth with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah. Next the mission of the Kingdom will visit of do all enemies and finally death Itself by opening up the way of life to the Nations which they will enter by faith during the Thousand Years and in parentheses in reality that they’re closed. Next and last but one at the close of the Thousand Years, there will be a general resurrection and judgment. And finally the get the government will then be delivered up by Jesus to the father. Now if you can see the overriding tenor of those statements is to agree with the conclusions with you so vocally gave a few minutes ago.
- 9:56
The kingdom of God is primarily concerned with a stage in history of a process which one’s had the kingdom here before. Since which there has been a large Hiatus with no kingdom of God here and at the end of which there will be a new establishment of the Kingdom, which will have first a rule over the Earth, but will rule over partially unconverted people. And then at the end of the second judgment will cause all those who are unworthy to survive to be extinguished. I will incorporate the remainder with the immortal Saints of the first resurrection in that post millennial Glory. We shall have no end and no no sin nor pain nor death. So the kingdom of God starts with I don’t know where you’d started the call of Abraham.
- 10:41
I should think not certainty with Saul. It goes on to the last king of the house of Judah zedekiah. They profaned begin Prince to them. God said whose day is coming when iniquities you’ll have an end. Has a long gap down in which even though Israel does go back for its wild to a land.
- 11:00
That land is not strictly its own. It belongs to the Romans and their they are a kind of pilgrimage that the rule of an Alien Nation and you can’t really call that God’s kingdom but it is promised and the king is born. He’s acknowledged of all his trust as Jesus of Nazareth the king of the Jews but he never actually rains that is still in the future though him until the last hundred and fifty years very near in the future.
- 11:25
Remember that we’ve been told that for the last 250 years. It is very near in the future. So somebody must be wrong about that. But that’s the thing. We have to take it into our account in understanding the kingdom of God and then it comes in Earnest and it stays and the Earth is perpetually thereafter to be regarded as God’s Kingdom.
- 11:42
So no you said logically it is not in heaven. And no you said logically it is not upon the Earth and no you said logically it is not in our hearts not what some people call a rain of Grace in the heart. Well, I had one brother tell me this morning over breakfast. I can’t stand Logic on how right he was because those two of you who said yes to is the kingdom of God in heaven were right though.
- 12:15
The others went wrong. those few who said the kingdom of God is on the earth were right just but the others weren’t wrong. Those who said the kingdom of God is not in our hearts were right on a certain understanding. But the others went wrong. But I’m trying to get up is this we do right to safeguard against the idea that the kingdom of God is exclusively. The place to which some people believe the Saints in God will go when they die.
- 12:47
If they have been faithful namely Heaven the kingdom of God at least is not wholly wrapped up in that concept that can easily reach the idea since he’s not the kind of Kingdom we’re used to talking about there is no relationship between heaven and gods existing Kingdom. I’m going to come back to that.
- 13:05
The second says yes, the Earth is the right place for the kingdom of God and it once was here that says Israel was scattered for the latest dime. It hasn’t been here and it won’t be back until they having been restored and the Lord Jesus Christ having come to Reign. He sets his throne in Jerusalem, and there becomes the king of the whole Earth.
- 13:27
That’s the idea of the few of God might be a rate of growth in our hearts while that’s downright. He rescued in the minds of many of us. Me too. If you look at this, is that way We are well aware that you talked to some people about the kingdom of God. They say, ah, it isn’t real the material thing you’re talking about.
- 13:44
It isn’t really the old Israelites his kingdom upon the soil of Palestine. It won’t ever really be that kind of thing. Again. The kingdom of God is best defined in the words of the Lord Jesus Christ to the Pharisees the kingdom of God is within you. And we indignantly rejected that idea that the kingdom of God is pre-eminently that said no with a fairly loud voice when I asked is the kingdom of God in our hearts. however Would you like to turn to Psalm 103?
- 14:17
And would you care to read to me? From verses nineteen not to be with me. Sorry Read With Me from verses 19 to the end of that Psalm Psalm 103. The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens. and his kingdom ruleth Over All Bless the Lord. Ye his angels that excel in strength that do his Commandments hearken unto the voice of the Lord bless the Lord all you his Oaths you Ministers of his that do his pleasure bless the Lord all his Works in all places of his Dominion bless the Lord O my soul.
- 15:00
Let me repeat the Lord hath established his throne in the heavens and his kingdom ruleth Over All bless the Lord all you his Works in all places of his Dominion Throne Kingdom Dominion. Is the kingdom of God in heaven try again? You’re struck dumb. Well, the psalmist says he is. He doesn’t say it’s the only place it is, but he says it’s there.
- 15:32
The Lord has established his throne and who sits on the throne of the king. His kingdom ruleth over all who is the ruler of such a kingdom, but God himself. all places of his Dominion whose Dominion God’s Dominion It can’t be quite right kind of say that’s not true. It can’t be quite enough to say that isn’t now true.
- 15:56
It wouldn’t be sensible to say it may have been true in the day when that song was written. It’s not true any longer. It’s obviously been all the true all the time has there ever been a time. We’ve got hasn’t ruled in the heavens. Of course there has has there ever been a time as good christadelphians.
- 16:11
I ask you the question. Has it ever been a time when God’s rule in heaven has been challenged by service there. We who don’t believe that Lucifer is the devil know the answer. That one is no there has never been any such time. God has always been ruler in the heavens will there ever be a time when he will not be in full charge of everything in the heavens?
- 16:28
And again, I’m sure you’ll answer there has no reason they will not be such a Time. So I’m going to check the guns that you’re all feeling. Holy bleep engines that you’re weeping buckets of Tears for your father. And you do agree that the kingdom of God is in heaven. You must Would you like some proof in the words of the Lord Jesus Christ? Then turn with me please to a place that you’ve never heard of before in Matthew chapter 6.
- 16:56
Matthew chapter 6 verse nine after this manner therefore pray GE Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come they will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but Deliver Us from Evil for in the King James version thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. amen Now if thinking James does is to be accepted because his absolutely overwhelming God’s is the kingdom forever forever past and future. His kingdom is to come from wherever it is now. His will we hope and expect and desire shall be done on the earth as well as present.
- 18:10
It is done somewhere else namely it happen. So David on the one hand. and the son of David the king of Israel on the other both say in effect the Lord hath established firmly founded his throne in the heavens and his kingdom ruleth Over All but it’s obviously true, isn’t it? Though we are right to cast out the idea that that Kingdom means that Saints go there to enjoy the kingdom with God the idea that God isn’t building his own Heavens is absurd.
- 18:43
Of course he is and all the Angels acknowledge it when they do his pleasure and the Lord who has gone to sit down with his father on his throne. I know this isn’t desktop. This is the same thing. And when Jesus after his resurrection says all authority is given unto me in heaven and in Earth, he suggested he not very strongly that the overriding control of everything in the universe at all times rest ultimately in the hands of God.
- 19:12
But you may say that’s not really what we were talking about. We have been brought up to believe that the essentials of a kingdom are a king on the throne and laws and the people and the land. And that’s the way we look at it enough returns. So we have say the Throne of st. James’s Westminster and we have the queen normally a king but this time for a lack of Kings it turned out to be a queen. And we have laws that we have a government and we have the territory of the United Kingdom extending from England in the South to Scotland in the north currently to know that island in the Northwest and also including whales in the extreme West. That’s the kingdom the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland if we got all the ingredients throne and the Queen and laws and landed the people. That’s not the only imaginable type of kingdom is it? That is what the kingdom of God was like of the days of Israel with many failures.
- 20:11
This is what it will be like in the days when the Lord Jesus Christ comes back with many extras. But at least we have a material understanding of the Kingdom which we the christadelphians are quite right to uphold and maintain there is to be a kingdom of God like that just as there has be but no one in his senses would say in the meantime got to stop raining. For example the right to quote the words to and from Nebuchadnezzar the most high real rulers in the Kingdom of men and gives it to whomsoever he will. Would it be right to quote Nebuchadnezzar’s own contract confession when taken away from his seven-year status of the beasts of the field.
- 20:51
He says now I Nebuchadnezzar honor the king of Heaven whose kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and his Dominion which shall have no end. So obviously there is a permanent that and everlasting from Everlasting to Everlasting Kingdom and kingship of God which includes everything except anything which happens to rebel against it. Anything that belongs to him? He may not be allowed to rule that as he wishes but it belongs to him doesn’t have taken it over from the days of Eden onwards took the most his dominions, erecting the flagpole insert the skull and crossbones on the top. They committed an act of piracy against God’s kingdom God wasn’t allowed to rule that anymore because of the sins of mankind. But God is the king.
- 21:39
He’s always by right to the king is any part of the University’s does not acknowledge Him as king then so much the worse for that part of the universe. He is still by right-clicking and one day he will establish it as temporarily and very partially he did in the days when the chosen people lived in the Promised Land. When Jesus says that his faithful should pray Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come did he not mean that Kingdom which is currently everywhere else, but here she’ll take in here as well. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Did he not mean that dominance of God’s will everywhere else except here.
- 22:24
We would like to come and embrace the Earth as well. So they’re everywhere throughout the wide dominions of God. He will be absolute ruler and no one will any more challenges will So you see the kingdom of God does have a happened to component. Had a very important heavily component and if that happened the lesson too because those of God’s people who dwell in the heavens namely his angels are those Ministers of his which do is pleasure.
- 22:53
In their midst in their hearts and in their minds God’s will is done. They will have no thought of doing anything else. There are billions is absolute. It’s such a standard for the kind of obedience. We would like to see and expect to see if they will exist upon the earth when God’s will will be done here in that same utterly Flawless way that the angels of God do it above Of course, you lose a monster. And they are glad he does.
- 23:19
And they praise His name perpetually day and night. It is their desire to see the same thing happened upon the Earth. There’s as well as Gods it was the Angels who rejoiced when Christ was born in that who sang glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace amongst men in whom he is well pleased. He was there who are looking forward to the day when that new born king would inherit the earth as his kingdom. Good deal more as well.
- 23:47
Of course because by God’s Providence the Conquering king of Israel has become one who could say as I quoted already all power is given unto me in heaven and in Earth. For whatever reason and whatever way the Lord’s Dominion the Lord Jesus Dominion even currently extends to having Authority amongst the angels of God in heaven.
- 24:08
And that can teach you something too. You take any Earthly order of Affairs? Imagine an establishment in which the patriarch of it. Has been accustomed to giving High office to Faithful Servants who have served in will have many years, you know actual case very many years indeed then all of a sudden the king becomes the father of a child. What does he do?
- 24:36
He takes that child and Pops him in between his own position and the angels and that child has authority over them, too. They become the Angels pledge to obey the son of the owner and in an Earthly Association to be Rebellion. The big massive grumbling on a huge scale. Look the boss’s son has been appointed over us who have served him so long and they wouldn’t have liked it.
- 24:59
We’re that kind of people and we perhaps wouldn’t have liked it to trade Union movements and Industrial unrest arises after that. Very feeling that man is jealous of man and wants his own position secure. But it’s not like that with the angels. They serve God looking forward as he looks forward to the time when his purpose will progress yet further.
- 25:21
They’re happy to do his will even the mightiest of them. And if the mightiest of the mighty whose name was God is great Governor. He’ll could come to a woman of our race and rejoiced with her as no doubt. He did and he said hail down without highly favored blessed art thou amongst women and her kingdom will be one who will rule over the House of David and over the house of Jacob forever.
- 25:44
Will he be king if that angel could give that message without any shadow of regret that his position would now move down a peg. Then we can see the dangers are made of better stuff that weird eye are they don’t you and I are they don’t know jealousy and envy don’t know pride of place.
- 25:59
They want to establish their own position. All they want is glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace Goodwill amongst men in whom he is wealthy. They could say with bloodless that the king would come that he was about to be born and when he was born could Rejoice with the glory to God in the highest and our Darkness looking forward to the establishment of the glory when they already subject to him will be allowed to do his will and go and for example gather his win from the for adults and bring them to his judgment seat.
- 26:29
God certainly rules about and the prayers of the Saints is Meg our ruler government’s your angels be matched in a time soon to come by your rule below amongst the Saints and the nation’s to in a letter way. Maybe that is a little reflection of our own inherent human weakness. In our reluctance to consider that State of Affairs is forming a pattern upon which God’s rule upon the Earth is going to be best. But they shouldn’t be.
- 27:03
Maybe when we repeat some words of that prayers many of our prayers do with their public prayers Our Father, which art in Heaven thy kingdom come sometimes thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Maybe there is a feeling that thy will be done needs careful consideration.
- 27:21
I’m sure that when many Jews had that prayer thy will be done in earth. They meant of course we want God’s will to be done in earth. We want God to take up arms on our cause come get our enemies remove our oppressors restore our dominions make us to be dominant race and make the others do his will. It was a selfish thy will be done that Israel would have prayed it was not we would like to do with your will God. It was we would like the other stuff to do your will God. We like your will to be that we should be top Nation. And then let’s it would have been a selfish prayer. in our lives, it could be what it ought to be is just what it says. We want your kingdom to come.
- 28:02
Oh God. We want your will to be done. We want everybody to do it. We want to do it ourselves. and the Very King himself the prince designate The Heir Apparent to the throne of God’s kingdom fell down upon his face on the ground and weeping as it were great separate perspiring it were great drops of blood cried in his Agony not my will but thine be done He was the one who taught us to pray thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth. As it is in heaven.
- 28:45
So so then for the Eternal kingdom of God and his ultimate fruition upon the Earth as well, but why is the earth an exception? You see the language I’ve been using so far is that the kingdom of God is world are Universal. Only the Earth is outside its effective Dominion. And why is only the Earth outside is effective Dominion answer because it’s opted out. Because there came a time when our first parents. At that point the obedient subjects of God. Embarked Upon A cuz of that cause of action which robbed them of their obedience.
- 29:26
Rob God of his predominance in their lives and converted them and us into a race in Rebellion against our God who need restoration submission surrender reconciliation before we can be in the state that Adam and Eve were for I suppose a brief time before they sinned. Got to give him the vinaigrette authority of the Earth. God had given them very great Authority. Let us make man in our image and after our likeness and let them have dominion over the beasts of the field know the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air. Even within the garden which they dwelt everything which they saw to them.
- 30:15
It was given. They had absolute right to do is they willed with the Garden of Eden so long as they kept outside the bounds of picking the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. They could use the rest as their holy Wills wanted to use. They were not Rebels against God. They were not competitors with God. They were not his Rivals.
- 30:40
They were his obedient servants given maxed authorities such as the Earth had not known such as no other living creature had let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion. That was a three-tier system of authority. There was God above with his angels exercising supervisory authority over the new Earth.
- 31:04
There were Adam and Eve and the God’s hand entitled to rule the Garden of Eden dress it and keep it as they will if they will was a Godly will. And if they didn’t trust this upon the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. And all nature was obedient to them upon the Earth.
- 31:20
There were no wild beasts. There’s no thorns and thistles. There was no untoward thing which Adam and Eve regretted and had to remove or couldn’t have had to endure. Everything was Parmalee in that which should must surely at that stage. If the language is not used have been an integral part of the kingdom of God.
- 31:44
But it was fragile. God’s dominion over it was precarious. God had made it so. He had left it open to the man and the wife to obey him gladly. Oh not to obey him totally. Do you accept their advice arrived position between himself and his other creation upon the Earth or to seek to better their lot?
- 32:10
And they came attempt to who said. Ye shall not surely die. For God just know that in the day you eat of this fruit. You shall become as God. to know good and evil I said as God and not as gods. As most of the visions do they must say God as I did. but I lived on one side the gods of the King James version not because it couldn’t grammatically be so Elohim in that same passage could be translated as the real plural and been Gods, but it usually doesn’t Elohim is usually are real singular. The winter example Elohim said appears. It doesn’t mean Elohim.
- 32:57
They said it’s a Lovin he said Is a singular verb to go with a singular noun, even though it looks plural. But I have no doubt that the temperature said to even even understood him to me that they had only to go through a certain process and they become like God the God God himself. to know good and evil currently good and evil rested from God say so that not partaking of the tree was good.
- 33:27
That partaking of the tree was evil. The Temptation was find out Place yourself outside God’s judgment on what is good and evil and make yourselves the judges for if you do partake of that fruit, you will be as God good and evil will die within your grasp.
- 33:44
Was it is not bitter taste of tasty food? But to test the desirable ambition and become independent. and Ray know of their lives of their Dominion as effectively as absolutely as God reigned over his and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food. And the fruit that off to be desired to make one wise she took of the fruit and she did eat. She gave it to her husband and he did it. That is broke.
- 34:19
Halfway through a sentence structure seems to have been right. They partook and their and their eyes were open. Even three more words can be added to it and they knew. Yes, they’re partaking of the forbidden fruit had shown them what they previously had not know. But then we asked what did they know? And the thing which came immediately to that awareness over them of anything else.
- 34:51
They might have learned by their sin was that they were naked. If I suppose any of us had had the right to have access to the Garden before that Dreadful moment.
- 35:07
And have been permitted to engage in conversation with Adam and Eve that said to them by the way, you know, you have got any clothes on. I wonder how they would have answered. It might have been close but a close. And again clothes. What a close for. Why do we have two dollar the other animals don’t? So yes if they were.
- 35:35
Brought to believe it was a matter of any consequence. They have known before but they had no clothes on. But now they knew in another way. Even though they were by God’s decree. If it shows one to another even though by God’s free consent. They were entitled to enjoy one another in the ultimate sense.
- 35:55
They are now sinful Hearts would have had awakened within them. It must be so. The same kind of thoughts which can arise in yours. On the occasions when you know that you are naked. or see something else who is or nearly so and stretch your imagination to if they were quite so what it would be like and there are the Motions of sin all ready to burst out. It’s awful growth of iniquity that cursed the Earth that they are.
- 36:33
And first fruits, it was necessary to say something last night. they knew things they had known before and it did them no good. It made them unfit for God Society. It made that God in the place where they had no longer any title to live. It made the Tree of Life a forbidden tree now.
- 36:59
They were cast out. Caribbean with a flaming sword kept the way of the Tree of Life. And I have a sort of feeling in my mind that when they were cast out. into a world where there with thorns and thistles where the sweat of one’s face had to be exercised to keep the down and make the crops and tame the beasts and gather their wool.
- 37:24
Where the thoughts of their hearts were full of Desire one for another sometimes welcome sometimes not. Well the man rule over the woman the woman found it sometimes hard to Bear sometimes very welcome. When the beasts were not all tame anymore, but some worthwhile. You have to take care in whose Beast you kept company and choose your Fox and selection.
- 37:48
I have an idea that from that point on they might throw up while afraid the occasional pilgrimage the place where the Caribbean were. And the sword which turned every way was looking perhaps to see if there was a way back and there was no way back. I’m resigning themselves. To that small-scale partial dim and foggy mediation with God that they might enjoy afterwards by sacrifice.
- 38:17
No longer would they hear the voice of the Lord God as he walked in the garden in the cool of the day and enjoy sweet converse with him and be at ease though filled with all his company that has gone to give place to something. I mentioned earlier this week. Woe is me for I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for mine eyes have seen the king the Lord of hosts.
- 38:43
So the Earth was cut out. Away from the kingdom of God not where he couldn’t rule where he couldn’t rule with the consent of His Highest creatures. They didn’t want him to do. The world became full of evil every imagination of the thoughts of nearly every man’s heart was only evil continually. Noah’s flood only setback the process of corruption a little while to get started again and the Earth became and has remained largely corrupt once more.
- 39:18
I want to read you. Now what I put down. This is just incredible the kingdom of God before after him. We take up the other points as to where the kingdom of God is and isn’t and will be and won’t be so can we turn please? Well, yes, you may as well turn. I’m getting muddled terms him 239 part 235 by all means and I did say I would read the Creed’s I’m now going to do so, this is the creator have laid down as a possible acceptable way of expressing our belief in the kingdom of God. I believe in the kingdom of God.
- 39:53
I believe that God most high who rules in the Kingdom of men and did in times past choose Israel as his special people will send back the Lord Jesus Christ his son to be ruler over all the Earth raining through his holy city Jerusalem the city of the great king until he shall have put all enemies under his feet.
- 40:12
I know that None Shall enjoy forever. The blessings of that Kingdom save those who have already submitted themselves under the mighty hand of God. That’s what I pray. Thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. I pledge it is my duty to seek to do his will even now behaving as a subject to that Kingdom ought to behave seeking first of all his Rule and his righteousness.
- 40:38
So once you see that we believe in God’s kingdom once you extracted even in terms of his future rule on the Earth in our standard fashion, you still have to say if I want to be there then. I have to acknowledge and execute God’s Rule now. But I will return to that we have spent together him 235 Lo he comes the king of glory see the Royal Victor’s brow. It was a changing pattern of light and shade upon the earth. When once our first parents were expelled from Eden. the shade largely predominated The large version only a few places as special people come into our view. Hey Belle, who died for his righteousness? Know who was the just ground and prepared an ark to the saving of his life.
- 44:34
Abraham of Hoover’s we have been reminded is written. He believed God and it was reckoned to him for righteousness. We’ve been in blemishes which God was pleased to forgive David the man after God’s Own Heart. Hezekiah who would just hire had a rain of matchless righteousness which none other could equal in Israel.
- 44:54
I love those little Testament time. What were they Mira things living in rebellious World consenting to the Rebellion they saw or would be Servants of God acknowledging his Rule and doing is they were told and seeking by their own behavior to further his purpose Noah built the ark when the king of Heaven told him to Abraham went to his country and from his Kindred and from his father’s house into a place that God had showed him because God from his Heavenly Throne told him to David reigned over God’s people upon what the scriptures call now the Throne of the Lord and Israel acted as the kingdom of God because God had chosen that people but frequently acted very badly. The capacity is the kingdom of God. They’ll give him the charter which is they had a very perfectly with the med the best approximation to God’s perfect rule that the Earth had seen since he didn’t but they didn’t. God had said if you will obey my voice indeed he shall be unto me a peculiar Nation.
- 45:56
He shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. They said in the Ecstasy of the moment. All the Lord has spoken we will do. You close your eyes and up again. It has a golden calf. That’s what they meant by their willingness to do all the laws that spoken they would do it until they thought something different something they most desire. And so through the check in Israel, the checkered history of Israel is a whole Israel divided Judea and Samaria you have this same occasional Obedience of holy men who served God has effectively their King.
- 46:31
And if you’d like to look at it this way there’s have where God’s will is done. Here’s the Earth where by and large it is every now and then a shaft of Praise goes up to God from some little piece of Earth where a righteous man lives and the shaft of blessing comes down from God to man a kind of Jacob’s Ladder joins together the Heavenly Powers with the obedient man. You might say God rules in a way in that bit of the earth. The earth isn’t yet acknowledging his kingdom, but Abraham is and Noah is and it is best moments. Jacob did so no established.
- 47:06
Until Israel had it between the days of the Exodus and the death of zedekiah. God’s rule was temporarily piecemealing precarious the world those who acknowledges and look to God’s their King. The Lord is our judge. The Lord is our lawgiver. The Lord is our King wrote them from his idols here. So it wasn’t the best in Israel there weren’t many best. When the Lord Jesus Christ was born from beginning to end of his mortal life than God was certainly acknowledged by him utterly not my will but thine be done with not just in the despair of Eden it was in the dedication of his whole life. He became a fitting King for God when he acknowledged God’s kingship in every walk of his life. It’s a mark of what happened when Jesus died and rose again. The letter to the Philippians can speak these words which are partly taken more modern versions. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Who being in the form of God counted in a surprise to be on an equality with God but emptied himself and took upon himself the form of a bond servant?
- 48:18
It was made in the likeness of men. Being found in fashion as a man. He humbled himself. And became obedient unto death even the death of the cross.
- 48:34
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him and given him the name, which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in Earth and things under the Earth and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
- 48:55
He became and remained utterly obedient and humble. He sealed it by the cross. He rose to a muchness Lori over which there was but one exception and that was the one who gave him the glory. obedience continued yet not this time hard one of billions invested temptation, but inbuilt Allegiance gladly and readily given perfectly to And the Lord gained the title to become the king of the earth and much else for it was certain that whatever Glory became his now in by whomever. It was rendered.
- 49:30
You would all go through him as a transparency before his father to the glory of God the father as we sang All the Glory all the glory be to God and him alone. It’s the same thing and he Glory one paste. Jesus is paid to his father to that’s the way the Lord wants it.
- 49:50
That’s the way why almost universally the Lord’s will is that when we pray we shall acknowledge that The Giver of answers is the almighty himself. The Lord Jesus is the joyful mediation whatsoever. Ye shall ask the father in my name. He comes the pattern of Christian Grey. And those Christians who joined the Lord in faith who live on the earth who seek God’s Will and try to be this separated people to God’s glory are called in the first letter of Peter royal priesthood A peculiar people. Royal peace to this Kingdom of Priests, of course, and peculiar people is the same as it was in Exodus chapter 19, and Peter is saying you become what Israel was promised God’s kingdom of peace and God’s holy nation by believing in Jesus. It isn’t going too far from that. Is it to say that that little island of Believers as acknowledge?
- 50:47
God is King. The day are as Peter and the Book of Revelation twice puts it God’s kingdom and Priests that they are a Colossians puts it translated into the kingdom of his son. They’ll make the Earth their Kingdom, but they do themselves serve God is King got his ruling a little bit in that him perfectly obedient Arts.
- 51:10
God’s kingdom comes in the face. Oh, yes. There is now even now. I remember the odds rulership surviving in the earth amongst every obedient person but there aren’t many of them yet. It’s very small scale can scale compared with the time when the Lord will come back and rule in Mount Zion and before his angels gloriously.
- 51:32
This leads to the third question to that you gave your emphatic. No. Is the kingdom of God inside us or anyone? You quite sure that wholehearted know was justified. If so where you’re right yesterday in so you take my heart it is thine own it shall be thy Royal throne. Or is it perhaps it’s like inconsistency between the two. Of course, we did say that those people who use that the kingdom of God is within you ought not to use it in that way and perhaps you might turn with me to Luke chapter 17 to find up when they were or they weren’t right in doing what they did. Luke chapter 17 verse 20 and when he was demanded of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come. He answered them the kingdom of God cometh. Not with observation.
- 52:35
Another Hill. They say Lo here or Lo there for behold the kingdom of God is within you. And the customer interpretation of that is you not to look for the material Kingdom you not say that it is or there it is for this is where it really is inside you.
- 52:54
I did not send that explicitly said they were wrong because the word rendered within doesn’t mean with it. It means among. so it can Whatever the quote two or three historical passages from outside the Bible where the king is in the midst of his troops and among his the right kind of word to use. There.
- 53:14
He is in the hearts of any of them. At least that is what he’s talking about. He is there in the flesh walking amongst them.
- 53:22
On the other hand if you look in the Bible for any parallels that word within or among. Well, you got some rather surprising answers. Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees Hypocrites for you make clean the within of the cup and platter. We don’t do them around. They need that dezzy. You make clean the outside of the cup of the batter who you make the within just one it always was full of unclean and evil things.
- 53:45
The inside is dirty. The outside is clean. You might say well doesn’t that prove what we say the kingdom of God gonna be inside of Jesse cup can it? No he can’t do the word within does refer to the inside of the Dixie cup. So when the Lord said the kingdom of God is within you he was not necessarily excluding the items that could be God raining inside.
- 54:08
And again, I quote you your words of yesterday’s soaking chorus take my heart it is thine own. It shall be thy Royal throne. So is the kingdom of God inside not much of it? Not perhaps the much of the time. But if I acknowledge God in my heart and receive him inside then I’m taking a step towards inheriting the ultimate Kingdom. God has a foothold upon the Earth in my heart and in your that you feel the same.
- 54:40
This isn’t going very far. But it would be wrong to deny God that Authority has the kingdom of God does belong to him wherever he rules and he is ruling in some degree in every faithful heart. You can’t say Jesus didn’t mean that. We hold it wasn’t true of the Pharisees who were questioning him and there was anything but the kingdom of God inside their wicked Hearts.
- 55:04
It was a rebuke to them that it was so people who look the way you are looking will even see the kingdom the only way in which you can begin to look for it and hope to find it is the kingdom of God is accepted inside you is the thing you want then perhaps you’ll understand about the other one then you know about the real coming the great glory of the pending acquiescence of the Earth in the rulership of God.
- 55:28
The hearts little something wrong. Their hearts were like Whited sepulchres the Lord said full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness, but they needn’t happy. They could have been cleansed. God could have been pleased to dwell in their company as please God now he could be pleased to dwell in our company. in our Collective hearts You know the individual Hearts as a first stage for us towards the glory get to drive.
- 56:00
Still knowing how possible. How fleeting how precarious that is, we say, of course, that’s our hope and expectation of better things to come. And we do look forward to the time which is so rightly emphasized in our statement and Anarchist the delphian standpoint throughout when God’s Wayward people restored will look upon Him whom they have pierced and mourn for him as One Mourns for his only son and become his mortal agents during the first period of his reign.
- 56:30
We do look to the time when we quick call dead will be brought before the Lord and if he is able to exercise his continuing Mercy admitted to the kingdom prepared for us from the foundation of the world. We see God’s kingdom then as a two-layer Kingdom with the sun ruling holy for his Saints and within and they within the New Jerusalem worship God through him in a spiritual City that hath no Temple Revelation 21 and to while the world is engaged in its lesser worship with the temple, which it may please God to establish in the city of Jerusalem, perhaps Ezekiel four sides.
- 57:10
So the Saints become as now we are taught to be the Temple of the Living God that there is no affection and the world becomes the subject World taught to obey him and worship.
- 57:21
But all the time the world under constraint. And the same from sheer Goodwill and spontaneity looks that it’s having the king. And his Heavenly delegate upon the throne. This content and happy and spend its eternity occupied its prey. She’s why we now pray seeking for its fulfillment in such little Where’s God can bring to us now. Thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth. There will be nobody present in that final expected phase of God’s rule upon the Earth has an immortal Denizen of it who does not rejoice in spending his time in singing God’s presence. anything else will not be at home there. Do you realize that brothers and sisters if you and I Can’t bring ourselves to get used to the idea. Seeing God’s glory before our faces admiring it all the time and praising the one whose it is and being thankful and rejoicing in his presence.
- 58:32
We wouldn’t be happy in the kingdom of God. If we can. We will be Blissful Beyond conception. thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth. As it is in heaven.
