  1. 0:13

Welcome to the good Christian talks podcast. I’m Levi and I’m Chris. Thank you so much for joining us this week on this podcast. We select one taco week to help each one of us get the Bible in our daily news feed. We post at the start of each week for you to listen.

  2. 0:30

With a short intro before hand to kind of set the stage for the talk. You’re about to hear and now let’s hear more about this week’s talk.

  3. 0:46

For a talk this week. We’re listening to a class that was given by Brother Harry tenant. Not exactly sure what you’re was but obviously it was a few years back this class which is titled the atonement in daily life might be the one of the most requested classes that I’ve gotten at least anecdotally. We’ve had a couple different people right in via email or social media suggesting it in a couple people have given us the class directly, but the number of people that I’ve said when we’re just sort of spitballing about Topics they’re like, you know, there’s this one class by Harry tenant on the atonement. That is really good.

  4. 1:21

I don’t remember what it’s called exactly but you should find that in post that one. So this is that class and in kind of typical Harry Style with his class. He spends a lot of time in the beginning kind of looking at why the topic matters and then after that focuses on what the atonement is, and then finally at the end it gives some really practical advice about how to take the atonement once you Stand what it means and what it is how it applies to our life and then taking that into applications for how we should live our life and that if we understand what the atonement means for us how we should be behaving toward each other and toward Ecclesia has as a whole he had a really really good point that how often do we when we’re praying or when we’re at meeting pray for the other occasions around us instead of just focusing on the people that are in the room with us.

  5. 2:15

He made some really interesting points. With that it’s a really powerful class. It’s a good way to look at the atonement and a good reminder that while the the the atonement is something that is critically important, but because of the different ways that the world and other other religions think of the atonement that we have to be careful and make sure that we have it locked solid in our mind because it governs so much of the rest of our faith.

  6. 2:40

So this was this was an awesome class. I really enjoyed listening to it another classic carry 10th class probably. Like I said, one of the ones that I’ve heard from multiple people recommending it as one for for us to post on the podcast. So as always if you have suggestions, as I said, this one has been suggested by multiple people.

  7. 2:59

Please send those in you know, if they’re posted on your occlusal websites or their expectations that you hear that you think are really good send those to us. Send us the link so we can we can find it and listen to it and we’ll share it with everybody here, you know continue to share and review it. It’s helpful.

  8. 3:16

The listenership is growing steadily. And it’s it’s always amazing to see how many people are enjoying this. So with that I’m going to turn it over to brother Harry tenant for his class titled the atonement in daily life. This subject has been a matter of great controversy and all parts of the world ever since it happened. That is the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s never been plain sailing in understanding and there have always been people who said they understood it and that perfectly and there have been those who have gone astray from an understanding.

  9. 3:57

Nobody understands it perfectly to do that. You’ve got to be gone because God is the reconciler and consequently. Nobody will ever grasp. Holy that’s why when we think of the atonement. We got all the figures of scripture. Haven’t we all different kinds of blood and The Ransom of body of Shepherd of sheep of altar of sacrifice of priests and they’re all applying to this very subject of the atonement.

  10. 4:29

No, one of them will cover the whole known as soon as you take one. Then you make a mistake in your understanding. Now, I’m pretty sure that there will be some of us here who are fairly expert in the subject of the atonement and where I’m going to give you a little test and then you can see how how well you understand the subject.

  11. 4:55

There are people still trying to get in and so anybody with a seat next to them. Please really put your hand up. Here we are. We got at least 10 seats at least 10. Keep your hand up. Don’t be afraid to come in. You’re welcome was the flowers in Spring? Thanks, we’ve succeeded so far.

  12. 5:15

Thank you brother sis. Right here. You are. Here’s the test for you under then you’ll see how well you understand the subject these by the way that I’m now going to read out to you are some things that were brought to me and several others at a meeting that we were at some time ago. My sometime I mean just some weeks ago. Is this statement true or false?

  13. 5:44

Christ then being found in fashion as a man and yet being sinless was a perfect sacrifice because being the representative of human nature, he could meet all the claims of God’s law upon that nature and yet triumph over its operation by a resurrection to Immortal Life. Is that true or false?

  14. 6:12

You know, and I know it’s always the same every and this is always the same the experts are always the same. They are always hesitant. As an interesting, isn’t it? Now some of you should not have been hesitant. That’s Robert Roberts. That’s Satan was Robert Roberts. Well, right. We’ll try the next one and see what you feel. The sinless Christ was made sin in taking upon himself the effects of sin sharing the mortality that has come by sin identified with the death, which is the lot of all the descendants of that first sinner. God made him thus that we might be made the righteousness of God.

  15. 6:56

In him that we the unrighteous the Sinners might be regarded by God for his sake are sharing in the righteousness of God true or false. They is in trouble is you see now I might say false is in a real says well you what a stupid thing to say, you know, or I might say true and some people say all right. Now, these are the most interesting interesting test really, isn’t it?

  16. 7:27

Well, that’s brother John Carter. Like right isn’t a statement number three the life of the race forfeited by Adam place the whole of mankind in debt for the sum of One Life. The bill was paid by the only man who had the price One Life his own received at his birth new and free from the source of all life and preserve by him by his perfect obedience until the time came when he voluntarily gave it up as the price of our deliverance. true or false folks you have you got everybody’s quite sure.

  17. 8:15

God I’m glad to hear that. That’s the Nazarene statement number for them. Do you want me to read some more of these? Well, because I tell you why I’m reading about afterwards a Christ himself is exhibited to us as coming under the beneficial operation of his own death true or false. Yes, Robert Robbins.

  18. 8:39

All right. Next Jesus submitted to the death of the Cross because he chose voluntarily to Bear the penalty of sin to purchase us back to God giving his life in place of the life lost in Eden true or false. Oh you getting you getting more courage now, aren’t you? Hey, all right. Be careful.

  19. 9:03

You don’t fall over the trip. Now. You never know. You’re quite right. It was false because that was the statement made by Ernest Grady one of the people in the Nazarene Fellowship next forgiveness and Reconciliation God has provided by the offering of his son. Those son of God he partook of the same nature the same flesh and blood as all of us, but did no sin. It is death.

  20. 9:37

He voluntarily declared God’s righteousness. God was honored and the flesh shown to be by Divine appointment rightly related to death. Where’s it from the energy agreements? Vo? Yeah II Bible. All right. Yes, this slain lamb has been made a purification for the whole world for which according to his father’s love to man. He submitted to death purchasing us back by his own blood from him who had got us into his power sold under sin. Bit doubtful about that day.

  21. 10:24

All right, not quite so sure. What’d I tell you be doubtful about it is Oregon. All right back in the 3rd Century ad who was a convert to Christianity from being a philosopher a Greek philosopher. And then when he came became a Christian within the definitions that we just had then he began to weave into that teaching. The philosophical ways that have been used to before and that’s one of his statements.

  22. 10:57

Christ was brought under the curse of the law by the mode of his death brought under that curse without fault and redeemed from it by Resurrection. A couple of couple of truths right be quite right. That is Robert Robbins.

  23. 11:23

Sin separates us from God the Forgiveness of sins brings reconciliation and the sun brings us to God the death of Jesus established the conditions upon which a radical change in our relationship to God is affected.

  24. 11:48

It is true. That’s right. This is John Carter. All right. I’m here. Another one there could be no virtue in giving in the giving up of his life if he wants a mere man, or he derived his life in any way from the seed of Adam for all who derive life from Adam lost it for in him.

  25. 12:13

All sin the Christ in our flesh could suffer the penalty and then redeem his brethren for he had never But it is Life by personal transgression and his life being independent of the race. He could give it for a ransom. False. Thank you Brethren, right you recognized it right away. That’s Nazarene. No, that’s really the teaching of Edward tourney 80-85.

  26. 12:40

They’ve still Echoes around sometimes in Queensland. All right, you see I’ve got another here. All who approach God through this crucified but risen representative of atoms disobedient race are forgiven therefore by a figure. His blood cleanses us from sin. True, right BASF. That’s what it’s from. If Christ died instead of us. Then we are not to die which we do and he paid the penalty naturally do from us death.

  27. 13:20

He ought not to have risen which he did. True Robert Roberts, right? Listen to this one. Then the object of his death was not to appease the Ross Roth of offended deity. But to express the love of the deity by abrogating the law of sin and death through a full discharge of its claims in a temporary surrender to its power and developing immortality by Resurrection to Aid legally acquired possession of it in trust for the obedient of atoms race. Kind of a slight wave of of true. That’s what we’re getting.

  28. 14:08

Is it – from the Declaration? All right. The last one God Supremacy having been Vindicated a foundation has been laid on which he can offer forgiveness without the compromise of wisdom and righteousness. He does not offer it or allow it apart from the submission to the Declaration of his righteousness in Christ crucified.

  29. 14:35

It is true. We need it’s Robert Roberts there. Oh, the reason I went through those is you see we can all hesitate and we as taken away partly because of fear if you had read them out or you are giving you the sheet and you take it home, you know gone through it said true true false true false, but there’s a sense of I wonder what he’ll think then if I get it wrong the fact is when you go through that list and if you do it quickly almost everybody gets something wrong. Is he in this subject of the atonement? I would say you probably disagree with this. I would say that 90% of the Brethren and sisters in aulick leisure’s do not fully understand the understan mechanics, you know, Paul isn’t wheels and everything all that. But if you were to go into detail and ask them to Define, then you discover that there was great hesitancy apart from routine wrote answers that are not their own. The subject itself is an easy subject and a hard subject at the same time.

  30. 15:51

It’s easy in the sense that God is bringing us to himself by his own method of Love through the Lord Jesus Christ whilst at the same time demonstrating that we are sinners and related to death. And that only by confessing the righteousness of God in so bringing death upon man in the beginning. And the righteousness of Christ in rejecting it that we have hope.

  31. 16:23

So rather than this evening than in going to arguments about this saw that and I’ve been through them all and they vary from country to Country. They vary from parts of the country to another part of the country one so vast as Australia for example, and I’m not talking about varying between two camps of people. I’m talking about within those camps on both sides. Then you discover differences.

  32. 16:57

Now this in one sense, this is lamentable in another sense. This is inevitable. The reason is that the The subject of the atonement is such that first of all. It is highly the subject. between God and Christ and it’s highly the subject between Christ and man. And then it’s highly the subject between Christ. and me a my life a my sins are different from your life and your sins. and the atonement was sufficient to embrace all and in this therefore we can take hope our catching each other out as it’s so easy to do then is not the practice of Christ.

  33. 17:57

How Christ underlined sin was by righteousness, I’m not constantly by saying you’re wrong, you know, you’ve got it wrong you what that right? Very rarely was the Lord Jesus Christ doing this much rather was he telling people the other side of the whole picture not just telling them that they were wrong. But how right God is in forgiving that wrong? We nice leather mystery lies, isn’t it? You know, we we sometimes wonder whether we should be with that person or this person and we’re not very sure. All I can say about that outlook on life is it’s not a Biblical Outlook at all. not biblical you when you go through the letters to the seven leak leisure’s they are never told to deal with the other occasions.

  34. 18:51

Inevitably there’s no word saying you better watch laodicea. It’s a bad lot. It’s on the way down and it’s on the way out. And if you went there then it would be awful. There is no such warning ever given and we got to ask the question. Why because this is the Lesser not from just by the spirit through Paul.

  35. 19:09

This is direct from whom not from Christ. from God this is his Revelation. That’s what it says on the first verse of Revelation the Apocalypse. So that’s how God deals with the matter and so in the end you see we were going to have Surprises by by the score when the day comes and we shall not be saying, you know, but when the day comes I told you it was sunny.

  36. 19:38

I shall we we should be wondering whether in fact we are to enter into the kingdom of God. And you will not have the Judgment seats be saying Lord. You better watch him. Not only don’t let him in after all I’ve said about him. So we have to be careful about our our way. Now, you know me well enough to know that in no way would I seek to lessen the straightforward Simple Truth concerning the atonement as we all understand it well as stated in the unity book.

  37. 20:16

Chocolate which is for your particular concern here in Australia and nobody else meets on the unity booklet basis in the world. So that was to solve your particular problems. But since nobody else meets on that basis then You have to then think how other people meet. And in Britain we meet on the basis of the bombing amended statement of faith. And and then on the reunions statement that we had the brought us together with a subject Street Fellowship in which all that we defined was the Birmingham amended statement of faith and had to explain its implications for us in our country.

  38. 21:00

And if you were in the North American continent, then you would find and they haven’t had reunions yet out there except With the bereans, but their irian between the amended and unamended people there has not yet taken place. I may take some time and that would have to then be defined in their terms. So that in the end all of us come back to the basic teachings of Christ the apostles and the prophets and the inspiration of scripture No gentle waving a wand and pushing aside. Everything say well, I don’t trouble myself about the atonement just get on with a job and can’t do that’s not it that’s not right.

  39. 21:42

That’s treating God lightly. Just come to Romans chapter 4. Let me show you a verse there. If I’d it’s Romans chapter 3. Now in Romans chapter 3 was a great chapter because in Romans chapter 3, it’s almost as though there is a court of law. And in that very place you and I are to be found or the representatives of us as members of the human race and have after having gone through the arguments of chapters one and two and three. It’s pretty clear that we are condemned. That’s our state.

  40. 22:26

I’m just at the moment when you think then the axe is going to fall which is there in verse 19. now we know that what things soever the law says it says to them who are under the law that every mouth may be stopped. And all the world become guilty before God. Therefore by the Deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight.

  41. 22:57

For by the law is the knowledge of sin. but the biggest butt in the Bible a but not the gods gonna forget. Everything is just said not that at all. He does says but now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested being witnessed by the law and the prophets even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe for there is no difference for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Being justified freely by his grace through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation a mercy seat

  42. 23:51

through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past through the forbearance of God to declare I say at this time his righteousness. This is God’s righteous as not man’s Christ’s righteousness is a declaration of the righteousness of God. I know we sometimes I literally got the righteousness of Christ.

  43. 24:15

That’s not true. It’s true in a kind of shorthand, but it’s not really true. You see the righteousness of Christ. Was that which he wrought sinlessly now, we haven’t done that and that can’t be imputed to us in any way what is imputed to us? And every time in this chapter it is the righteousness of God. That’s was imputed because it now tells us look at have a look at verse 26 to declare.

  44. 24:45

I say at this time his that is God the last wording on in a preceding verse righteousness that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus now, that’s that is the Staggering verse. How can God be just who condemned sin in the beginning in? forgiving sinners How can that how can that be?

  45. 25:12

What was more how can God both be just and the justifier of Sinners? How can he how can it be worked out on the way in that which we do is worked out is now seeing the man. We should have been the Lord Jesus Christ. The one who is of us sharing all that we are and yet sinless before God and seeing him then God says that’s the man with a capital am that’s the man.

  46. 25:49

The very image of God, that’s what I intended when I made man in my own image right at the beginning. That’s the man now when we see him the Wonder is this that as soon as we see him then we confess our sins that we are not the man. We’re not like him at all.

  47. 26:11

In other words what God’s love and righteousness manifested in Christ do for us is to bring us to our knees and say Depart from me O Lord for I am a sinful man as Peter in the boat, isn’t it? Of course Christ didn’t leave him. Christ spent his life in the boat with Peter right to the end of Peters days. They didn’t say you’re quite right Peter. I really oughtn’t to have fellowship with you. You’re a bad lot.

  48. 26:42

No, as soon as Peter said I’m a bad luck to the Lord said now you’re right Peter. You’re right for the first time. That’s how God sees a Man Without Me Christ. But by me, you can be cleansed and forgiven. And so later on when Peter, you know, has that wonderful moment at what a marvelous man. He is.

  49. 27:07

He’s not, you know, the impetuous Runner into trouble which sometimes feature is regarded as being he’s a man of great perception spiritually and his heart is so big it wants to burst I’m so when I’m not De Jesus said unless you eat the Flesh of the son of man and drink his blood.

  50. 27:27

You have no life in you. Lots of disciples started to walk out. and left him the Lord turned to Peter and said will you also go away? And Peter said Lord. To whom shall we go? Thou Hast the words of eternal life. Marvelous statement, isn’t it? Wonderful. Now, this is the atonement, isn’t it? Is it at the atonement at work?

  51. 27:59

the attempt wasn’t an act just one act at all was it was the whole life of Jesus from the moment of his birth to the moment of his death and his resurrection. Look at chapter 4 of Romans. That is this.

  52. 28:16

Verse 23 it says now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him that he has to Abraham righteousness by faith. But for us also to whom it shall be imputed if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our lord from the dead who was delivered for our offenses and raised again for our justification. In other words.

  53. 28:41

The resurrection of Jesus is part of the atonement. You know the whole the whole those together you sometimes you can go around and is taking hold of words of Robert Robertson one way and brother Thomason another but taking hold of neither don’t accurately by saying well what we got on the flesh is the total rejection on the cross. Sorry is the total rejection of the flesh Christ was now rejecting what he wants in his body. That’s not true.

  54. 29:15

That’s not true. At the Last Supper. He said this is my body which is given for you and we have to remember it at every service of remembrance. And what is war that body was not rejected.

  55. 29:31

The Lord preserved it from corruption. They wasn’t rejected what was rejecting was sin all the router bit surely in the nature we bear but that route had been totally in the Lord Jesus Christ totally dealt with in him by his righteous life. That was the first body in which there had been sinlessness in a body that normally produces sin.

  56. 29:58

That was it. It was a great victory. That wasn’t that body then we haven’t been redeemed. You had no Redeemer for your body which produces sin? Unless the Lord’s. Was not the same as ours. It was the same and consequently, then there was victory in this nature. So now what we have to do, I’m not going to go further into into this because that’s partly an exposition of the atonement isn’t it?

  57. 30:25

And we can see you know, parts of that as we go along what we have to do is what do we now do now the absurdity of the situation we are having remembered that when the Lord looked went and saw that there was no ID pretty and no arm to say But then the Lord’s arm brought salvation when we see that why why why why and it can’t be right that reveling don’t have dealings with brethren.

  58. 30:55

I mean the atonement is about that. That’s what it’s about. You see Christ could have left us all that. He could have put his skirts around himself. Couldn’t he saying said keep your distance now? Couldn’t he could have done that. I better not be Nate near to you Thomas. Occasionally have doubts. I don’t want you. I’m not sure about you for it, but the way and Peter what you you will finally finally deny that you know me. Instead of which Christ without compromise to himself. In fact the principle of what was that work in the atonement was that Christ’s sinlessness was now reaching out through the love of God to Peter sinfulness.

  59. 31:44

That’s what he’s doing. It isn’t the sinlessness is contaminated by it at all. It’s the sinfulness that’s confronted and renounced. But we are not the people to do that. God has judged that in his work in the Lord Jesus Christ. So now we got to see how it works in daily life. What how do we go about it you and I in our daily life, right Matthew Chapter 5.

  60. 32:11

Let’s have a look. And so first nine then. Blessed are the peacemakers? For they shall be called the children of God. When did you last have a go at that then? When did you personally last have a go at that verse, right? See the happiness this offer to us there. These are got why are they God’s children? Because God is The Peacemaker.

  61. 32:51

That’s why. Well, therefore you want to belong to God we got to do the same kind of work. amongst our brethren We’ve got to do the kind of work ourselves amongst our Brethren. Now, this is what the this is the problem and when I make comments about these people all those people I’m not now speaking about a particular side. I just don’t take sides.

  62. 33:18

All right, because the comments about which I made so far I’ve been made on both sides that these people don’t want those from time to time and those people don’t want these from sign from time to time. It’s not a one-sided matter at all. all What I’m not saying is that what we should be practicing in our daily life is what is described as peacemaking? All right, and that this is not on the basis of some of let’s forget.

  63. 33:44

It. God doesn’t say that about Sin does. He don’t God doesn’t say well just forget your sins. God says you confess them before me and you will repent of them and I will forgive you in the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s what he says. So that’s why he is just and the justifier he is just because he condemns our sins. And condemning our sins.

  64. 34:08

He doesn’t condemn The Sinner. All right, because he’s taking to redeem The Sinner. We love these things together. We wouldn’t like that person because of whatever it is and we lump his imperfections with him. But God is wanting to redeem him and bring him into everlasting life, which has got to be our work as well. There are sometimes speak in meetings and then somebody says to me afterwards, you know, the brother and sister they’re sitting next to you.

  65. 34:35

I said, yes. He said I was surprised to see them there. You say why he says because they’re always having flaming roused. But may apply to somebody here. It’s not a matter of just a smile. It takes place in Brisbane. I don’t talk about it I a particular Ecclesia. I know it takes place because it takes place everywhere.

  66. 35:00

All right, but there’s supposed to be an atonement but it’s not there in the family. Now that can’t be right is the father or mother of the household both in the truth cannot now practice the atonement with themselves on the children. What happens of course is you lose your children, don’t you so you do and that’s not the atonement is it? accompany atonement So we’re going to start in our own families.

  67. 35:27

Then where there are these problems from time to time now? He’s in your family. Then the best way to start on this is to confess your part in it.

  68. 35:39

Just confess it. I mean their husbands or and it’s easier in Austria to be this because this is the place of the Macho Man in a kind of way. He’d say is expected to be like this. You know, he isn’t like that in actual fact is weak the Macho Man in Australia, isn’t it? He’s a sinner and he’s locked into his sins of beer and betting and women and so on.

  69. 36:04

Those are it knows that that’s that. That’s the Macho Man. He’s got to drink his Fosters. He’s got to otherwise. He’s not a not just one but line them up boy drink a lot. All right. Now that’s that’s that’s the man. Okay. Now this is the man that breaks up. His marriage is goes from girl to girl and the girl the girl that he goes to now knows he’s been there but he’s got to have him as well because she’s also been here. That’s our world.

  70. 36:26

Isn’t it now in our family life? We’ve gotta get over that. We’ve got to stop this fragmentation and get our lives straight. He’s got to be kindness loving kindness between husband and wife. If there isn’t Christ has not redeemed us. Did you hear that? Christ can’t of redeemed us if to redeemed people are now falling out we got is Christ divided which try with side with Christ take in the family.

  71. 37:02

Now these things are wrong. We got to put them right and so the way to put them right is to decide that you are going to build the bridge. That helps to overcome the problem. It’s no use in marriage or any other circumstance or was trying to assert your rights saying you are right. I’ve got it right and you are wrong and you know it and this is not the first time I’ve told you and so it goes on forever doesn’t it?

  72. 37:32

So you have weeping wives and Sour face husbands and children who don’t want to know if that’s the truth. They say I don’t want to know and I don’t blame them because that’s all they know because what takes place at home then is to them the picture of the atonement. Now I’ve just outlined that particular picture because it’s a domestic one, isn’t it? Now?

  73. 37:58

What we’ve got to do all of us is now to seek to repair. I don’t know how you go about this matter of of reparation. Because some of the easy matter, you know, because if you’ve been having quarrels for a long time, then it’s not easy in whatever situation. This is religiously Cleese you Lauren trip into ecclesial or it within the marriage or between two people or within the family because there are families that don’t get on together aren’t there.

  74. 38:28

There are members of families never speak to each other. I smoked that one meeting. I remember and this is the came to me after the meeting and it was on this subject this evening as you said brother. Harry want to tell you something. I said what turn sister. She said I haven’t spoken to my sister for 26 years.

  75. 38:47

I’m going home to speak to her tonight. Alright, that was a gigantic step. That was a 26-year gulf that she got to Bridge and she decided to Bridget. She wasn’t a loser by that. Whatever assistance he doesn’t matter you see because he all what if I do that my sister will say ìwell I told you you were wrong. Then you know, that doesn’t matter just come to Matthew Chapter 5.

  76. 39:11

Let me illustrate what I do things to you Matthew 5 and verse 21 to 26. Then the tournament in daily life you have heard that it was said by them of old time Thou shalt not kill and whosoever shall kill should be in danger of the Judgment but I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother Without a Cause. And that Without a Cause is not is not there in the revised version.

  77. 39:39

By the way, I don’t know about the NIV should be in danger of the judgment and whosoever shall say to his brother Raca shall be in danger of the council and whosoever shall say thou fool shall be in danger of Hell Fire. All right, that’s that’s tough language. How do we do that Lord?

  78. 39:59

He says well if you bring your gift to the altar, all right, it is under the breaking of bread. And there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee? leave thy gift before the altar and go thy way. First be reconciled to thy brother and then come and offer thy gift. Now it’s clear language, isn’t it?

  79. 40:33

It is absolutely clear language. Now are there any of us who need to take it to ourselves? I have people that I don’t get on with you have people you don’t get on with. I people who treated me. Well, I think shabbily from time to time. They may think that I’ve done that towards them. You know, that’s always possible isn’t it? Because we’re human beings now, this is telling us this is the way to recognize no don’t come to me and worship. God says if you haven’t put it right with your brother. Because he’s saying he’s what he’s saying you come here to the breaking of bread to remember the Forgiveness of sins, and you’re not practicing it.

  80. 41:19

That’s hypocritical gone get it. Right and if you noticed that in the kind of language that there is here. in the motorized version there in verse 23 In verse 23, it says therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar the altar is God maybe is represented in Christ. But you bringing it to him you notice that not taking it to the old here.

  81. 41:52

You’re bringing it. That’s where he is. And God says I won’t receive it unless you put your relationships right with your brother. What I tried to do about these under you’ll find it helps a great deal. If there is anybody you can’t get on with I don’t start allocating blame and saying it’s his fault her fault, you know, and it’s been repeated so many times and I’ve done nothing I don’t deserve it and so on that doesn’t get you anywhere. If in fact you want you haven’t any me or somebody you feel antagonistic to wear just give you one piece of helpful advice that I found helpful to myself.

  82. 42:36

I immediately start praying for that person. Not saying Lord, he’s a bad lot. And I know you know, he’s a bad lot, but help me Lord and do something to him. Not that at all which is what how we behave sometimes isn’t it just said about praying for his salvation not by allocating blame say that you want him to be saved and only more of us did this, you know, if only we prayed for Yvonne earpieces pray for occasions. We’re just say this.

  83. 43:10

I doubt that it has ever happened. In southeast Queensland that any Ecclesia has a has literally at the breaking of bread named all the other equations and prayed for them together. I doubt it.

  84. 43:29

But why not? Well, not sure we could pray for these people or whatever. It is. Not sure what would God have done for us then if he said oh, well you brought this man to make I’m not sure I can do anything for him. Dear me. You know what he’s doing and what he’s done.

  85. 43:49

No, that’s just too much. Nobody who comes Christ says, you know, he that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out Christ doesn’t cast out when they cast ourselves out by our Behavior, but he doesn’t cast us out. So we have got to behave to each other in this way are seeking to embrace not isn’t foolish sentimental sloppy way that gets nowhere but in Practical steps of praying for each other and praying for forgiveness for ourselves and for our Brethren and seating by means of that for the power of the atonement to work through us all of us after all here.

  86. 44:33

We are, you know in a group of people not always able to agree with each other how How many coming preach to other people? How can we preach to other people we don’t agree with that we need each other. Is Christ, you know divided? What are you going to do then? If somebody comes along then do we say well, we don’t I wouldn’t go to that place value.

  87. 44:55

Is that what we say? In other words we preacher a partial kind of relationship now that can’t be good enough that can’t be good enough. One of the best cures for inward faults is outward witness. All right get together and Proclaim together I have trouble is here. You see if you do that then somebody.

  88. 45:19

Say well, these are the conditions on which we will do this you see. now have you considered what that means? We just work it out. It’s purely thinking laterally not vertically. Are we saying that there are conditions upon which we will preach Christ. Who made no distinction amongst us to save us? That can’t be right. Can it that just can’t be?

  89. 45:55

We’re going to work together in order to Proclaim. Let’s suppose now. For example, we made a mistake in this in some way. All right, and we shall of course. Is it better that it should be a mistake in practicing the atonement rather than a mistake in denying it? The answer is obvious, isn’t it?

  90. 46:20

There’s no there’s no difficulty in answering that question come along with it now a little bit later in this chapter of Matthew 5 and have a look at verses 43 to 45. This part might help you particularly verse 43 because it’s got to do with conscientious objections. So on you have heard that it hath been said Thou shalt love thy Neighbour and hate thine. Enemy.

  91. 46:43

That’s all said in the Bible, but that’s so what the the conclusion they derived at. That’s what the Jews are done. They had done what we ourselves are always in danger of doing that is making the distinction among people and then he says but I say unto you love your enemies.

  92. 47:03

I couldn’t be clearer good it. It doesn’t say tolerate your enemies. It doesn’t say do your best to get on with your enemies does it? It doesn’t say. I hope that in some way you’ll be able to get on at least with a few of your enemies. It’s a command of Christ. We have no option.

  93. 47:30

You’ve got to love our enemies. And bless them that curse you and do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you that you may be the children of your father which is in heaven who then it is said has been loving us. Who have cursed him hated him and his frightfully used him as he saying, isn’t it?

  94. 47:59

So the people have been doing those things at ourselves not these other people that’s ourselves. That’s what God Said to do with us. That’s what he had to do when he’s when he’s had to deal with us as people. Look. I don’t need any trouble from any of you at all. I’ve got enough trouble being myself.

  95. 48:19

I’ve know everybody has I mean, I’m in this class there are times when I knocked up by knowingly doing it directly curse God or hated him or despitefully used him but there are things in my behavior that have been like that when Peter denied his Lord, he despitefully use them at that moment.

  96. 48:39

Didn’t he the more he needed him Peter wasn’t there there are no it was Peters weakness. He got no desire to do that. He loved him with all his heart. But he failed and God wants us to succeed. Now may I just say how then we do this practically? How do I love that man?

  97. 49:03

Who hates me and is now treating me in such a way as make us to make life very difficult for me. But he has a helpful approach to that problem say to yourself. I am not going to allow the behavior of that man to make me behave like he’s behaving. Try it. It works.

  98. 49:32

Alright, so the man swears that you curse is you or in simple easy terms the man who cuts in from the net from the lane next to you straight in front of you. I’m cause you to break. He’s a bad driver. All right, so you give a great big hoot on the on you then accelerate and come up behind him you flash your lights to them.

  99. 49:53

In other words. He’s done you’re doing exactly what he’s done. Give a having exactly the same way. You’ve lost the battle. The moment you could have then been, you know so different. Was the moment you lost a I knew a brother who and it was he who taught me this this simple lesson.

  100. 50:12

He had the most engaging smile. So whenever anybody wanted to push in when they shouldn’t when they were driving, he gently braked and he went it was most desired me the other Champion ought to do you never met before now this this is putting the atonement into practice. You’re injecting from your side what he’s not injecting from his side.

  101. 50:42

She all the antagonisms that we create are in fact. Leaving the Atonement out on both sides. Whereas we if you practice from our side then we shall succeed. However, it works out with the other person from our from our point of view. Then it will succeed now and this never fails. May I just say this you just practice it in your marriage with your children at your work with your boss. All right.

  102. 51:12

But a bad bad boss first Peter to just let’s have a look at this. You may have this kind of Boss. All right there about in abundance of the present time

  103. 51:26

jobs are not easy to get and so the boss you see can be as rude and is calculated and I’m thankful as you like because if you say, you know, whatever you want to say to him. He says look, we don’t like the job. Get out of got somebody else lining up for it.

  104. 51:41

Now. Do you want to stay? And you got no option right now. Let’s see what God says about this in this chapter verse 18 of First Peter 2, which we read together servants be subject to your masters with all fear. That’s okay. Not only to the good and gentle. But also to the froward the perverse.

  105. 52:14

Have we taken that on board? All right. I don’t think we have taken that on board without first reading. We just just think about it for a moment. Alright for this is sank worthy. This is acceptable. The word is Grace. This is Grace. If a man for conscience toward God Endura grief suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it if when you be buffeted for your faults, you take it patiently, but if when you do well and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is Grace With God. That’s what the word is.

  106. 52:53

All right, I hear it. Here is the lesson that sticks out a mile, isn’t it? So what he’s saying is you’re going to bad boss you say? Yes. I’ve got a bad boss. But in fact before he came here at a good boss, I used to do dude a full day’s work for him without any trouble at all. I liked it takes to stay on as a matter of fact is His job because of him.

  107. 53:12

Oh, Jesus says. And you didn’t do that for the bad boss, which I know I should I why should I every job I do for this money never says thank you for it. We just says well here and next two jobs. You’ve done one reason I can never win. On the Lord Jesus Christ says, yes.

  108. 53:35

Have you ever thought says the Lord Jesus Christ? That you were the bad boss. And I was a 7. Is it never crossed your mind, but whatever I did for you. You did all these other things haven’t you related to it? Have you seen what it’s all about? I’m not I didn’t come to call the righteous.

  109. 54:01

I can’t I came to call Sinners to repentance. That’s what I came to do and contact never had to deal with Sinners. And so all of you I have treated in exactly the way that I’m telling you to treat your boss in exactly the way. That’s how it is our soon as we get that perspective on how relationships it changes life enormously. My life is going to reflect him not him. That’s clear, isn’t it?

  110. 54:34

I’m going to refight Christ in my life are not him otherwise and I should be like him. I should become a bad servant. I should cheat him. I see you in short measure as you said. Well, you deserved it. In other words what I’m now going to only be according to law and not according to Grace but Grace says, all right.

  111. 54:54

Mm. He’s a bad boss giving good measure. Just like we give a good boss. Good measure. Because he says verse 21 for even hereunto were ye called because Christ also suffered for us leaving us an example that you should follow his steps who did no sin. Neither was guile found in his mouth. Who when he was reviled?

  112. 55:28

Reviled, not again. when he suffered he threatened not but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously. They just threw himself in the arms of God. Hey, that’s what he did. So he said father forgive them.

  113. 55:50

For they know not what they do. That’s frightening. I mean, it’s frightening when the nails is through you through your hands or your wrists, isn’t it?

  114. 56:03

And for the people to hear you saying it? These were tough soldiers. And those were the words that were spoken. or when You took the bowl of water?

  115. 56:21

And you came to the feet of Judas. And said, well I do a pretty skimpy job here cuz you’re going to go into the darkness in any case in five minutes. All right. He washed the feet of Judas with the same tenderness. For with God there is no respecter of persons and with the same care.

  116. 56:48

And intent as he washed John’s feet. so that Judas would never be able to say neither at that time nor at the Judgment seat Lorde You all know. He wouldn’t say that you just you just you just never called Jesus Lord. Master you always treated me differently from the others didn’t you? To which the answer is just that last moment, isn’t it? When Jesus turns at the Last Supper and says one of you shall betray me?

  117. 57:32

And they said it’s Judas. Nobody knew. Would you finish it Judas? Was Christ contaminated by it and of us dare say a word are we hey? And who was who was the winner? It was Christ and his father. They lost nothing. You see we don’t contaminate by carrying righteousness around we contaminate by carrying things which are not for the atonement around all of us and it’s on both sides are not in the hearts of all of us, you know, that’s the way it is. We’re all the same.

  118. 58:14

You see we’re all tied with the same brush. I like to see you black. It makes me a bit wider. That’s that’s what it is, isn’t it? And we all like to preen ourselves in our pride make ourselves look righteous. I hope you know, I’ve been to every meeting this year. Never missed one.

  119. 58:37

I’ve done my readings every day and never miss one and you can even now here all the Echoes can’t you lord lord? I think the unarmed not as other men are. All right. I need to see the thing is. It was the Pharisee who said that.

  120. 59:01

And then then we say Lord. I Thank you have not like the Pharisee everybody take another the same story and we’re now just just doing exactly what the Pharisees said because I’m christadelphians. I am doing this and I’m doing that is exactly the same proud Spirit you see In actual fact, we’re all in the same boat. All of us in the the Pharisees were never condemned the false Doctrine.

  121. 59:32

It is for their behavior and social we unless we improve all of us in practicing the atonement. These things that are in 1st Peter are worth following you see because they then come to who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sins should live unto righteousness. And this was not just some transaction Brethren and sisters.

  122. 1:00:03

Kind of some legal fiction that was taking place in the Lord Jesus cries. This was in his own body. All right, that’s where he took place.

  123. 1:00:20

Not about it, but in it. The experienced everything you say I’m not for the reason that he was sinful. He experienced everything that Sinners should know about themselves. He was cast out which Sinners should be. Should they not they have no friends which Sinners shouldn’t have. he was one that was maligned which Sinners should be in other words what he had in himself and because he had it in himself in a nature which is like there’s could have had it otherwise In a nation that was like there’s therefore the Lord Jesus Christ understood and he didn’t say to his father father. I just don’t want this lat.

  124. 1:01:12

I don’t want to do forgive all those people in South Brisbane. I don’t have being with that you deal with them yourself. I don’t want to die. Don’t want to know them.

  125. 1:01:24

Peter said now Paul said you better see the words of Paul first Timothy to just have a look. 1st Timothy 2 verse 12. This must be Timothy 1. I’m sorry verse 12.

  126. 1:01:50

And I thank Christ Jesus our lord. Who has enabled me? For he counted me faithful putting me into the ministry. And he’s putting me to his service who was before a blasphemer. a persecutor in Julius But I obtained Mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord which was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. The Christ Jesus came into the world. to save sinners Of whom I am chief, but he wasn’t exaggerating that does not some people say I was a bit of hyperbole on Paul’s part. He’s not exaggerating what he’s actually saying is to every brother and sister in this room.

  127. 1:02:59

Look if God can save me you can save anybody. That’s what he’s saying. I’ve killed Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. I put lots of them in prison having treated them and I said you deserve it. The law has been merciful to me. Until he says I need saying it to you brother. Whoever you are that Christ Jesus came into the world to save you.

  128. 1:03:24

There’s not sentimental twaddle, which was not some people, you know, imagine if you start quoting verses of this kind not at all. This is for real. That’s what he did. This is why he spoke to Mary Magdalene and Matthew just why he spoke to them and the publicans and sinners. And so he obtained Mercy.

  129. 1:03:44

All right, just say to yourself Christ. Jesus came into the world to save sinners. But you can add the words yourself of whom I am chief is for you to decide that’s in your mind, isn’t it? I mean I say to myself have got to can save me he can stand save everybody in this room everybody.

  130. 1:04:07

All right, we should all have to say that to get right down on our knees and say it and then when other people offend us, you know, and we stand on our dignity and don’t speak to them or pass them by in a meeting room or whatever it is. And then take bread with Christ. Who didn’t pass Us by?

  131. 1:04:30

But came to us to redeem us and not only that were sent by his father to do it and the father’s will maker of all things. The father wants us. The father doesn’t want to lose us. He gave his son to save us. He was more in Earnest about saving us and we are being saved. And it may not it was gonna practice that with our children with our neighbor with the people who treat us. Lll win are occasions in our only closure with other occlusions and stop this sniping. So kind of Chesney.

  132. 1:05:04

It really isn’t it, you know, when we’ll get him got him, right? That’s another one down. Of course it is and you can do that with me. I can do it with you we can all do it. If God sniped at us, we’d all be dead. I need Christ sniped we’d all be dead every single one of us on Earth. Instead of which he said come unto me. All ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly of heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls and it’s true. It is true.

  133. 1:05:45

Just going to Ephesians chapter 2 I see our time is Running out on that sad but still there we are. It’s right that he should run out that’s mortality now these inceptor to Underwear. Well, we then all of us in this room. Well, we were in verse 12 before we came into the truth at that time.

  134. 1:06:18

You were without Christ. I find that terrifying just to conceive just because there’s remote just conceived that suddenly Christ was taken away from you. And you had no access to him at all.

  135. 1:06:38

Hey what then? Or a state around us all useless absolutely useless more than that. This is follow it through he said you were without Christ. You were aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel. No, hope of Israel strangers from the covenants of promise. You did not belong. having no hope hey.

  136. 1:07:08

Just imagine that to you. Just come to the tourney comes out with his little Sheaf of papers. He said he better sit down mr. Tenant.

  137. 1:07:18

I say yes doctor. He said I’ve done all I can we’ve all had a look at your papers and your x-rays. And there’s nothing we can do for you.

  138. 1:07:37

There’s no hope. Pepsi table said to be in isn’t it? That’s where we were that’s what the doctor said. Is it that’s what he said about us more than that, but I’m going to look having no hope and without God in the world. No God that’s where we stood them a box and that’s the same but at in Romans chapter 3, isn’t it? But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off we were way way, you know on the horizon hardly visible at all. And God called us in gathered us unto himself. Just that’s what he’s saying.

  139. 1:08:25

Here. We are made nigh. by the blood of Christ That’s the price then not a ransom price in the sense that we’ve been ransom for something and now we are totally free. This is the cost of bringing us to God for he is our peace to that’s where peace lies. Hey, it’s lies in Christ. The Prince of Peace who hath made both one. That’s Jew and Gentile.

  140. 1:09:00

All right broken down the middle wall of partition. The one that existed actually in the temple, they discovered a the stone on which was written to know Gentiles should pass this point without except on pain of death. And that wall has been broken down. How did he do it? Then it tells us having abolished. in his flesh They enmity.

  141. 1:09:30

Father Thomas says he can’t abolish what isn’t there. That’s what that word enmity there tells us that Christ had to agonize to achieve. Wasn’t just something you could do because he was Son of God. He had to agonize every step of the way. Do you think he wanted to go to Calvary? Do you think he wanted to be there? Is that what you think he did?

  142. 1:09:59

He said go. Please crucify me some hundred and two says you remember the words in Psalm 102. I said Lord take me not away in the midst of my years. That’s what he said. I’m more than that brother and sisters just come to Psalm 69 and look at these words just have a look at them because it’s just as well to get hold of the awfulness of them because this is where we are guilty.

  143. 1:10:32

So we have the statement in verse 7 for thy sake I have borne reproach. This is a song about Christ. There are at least at least I think six direct quotations from this Psalm in the New Testament. I’m become a stranger unto my brethren. I’m an alien on to my mother’s children. So his brothers didn’t want to know him. His step brothers did not want to know him. All right.

  144. 1:11:10

My mother’s children at not figure father. Now. He’s relating himself to his mother. His father was in heaven. Then he says in verse 20. reproach I’ve broken my heart.

  145. 1:11:33

And I am full of heaviness. I can hardly read these words rather and sisters. It says and I looked for some to take pity but there was none and for comforters, but I found none in locked brothers and sisters. He wanted and there was nobody but nobody alright, nobody from any occasion in southeast Queensland any occasion in Great Britain any occasion in North America looking at our present terms?

  146. 1:12:13

All right, but yeah, this was the land as it was then it wasn’t this was this is the world isn’t it where he was when he was crucified. He was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin. He was for everybody to know. And we had no pity God help us Brethren and sisters if we still have no pity. On his Brethren he’s looking for us to take pity and God help us if there are none.

  147. 1:12:47

We should get numb. And it’s serious, isn’t it? I’m a poison anybody in particular I’m talking about us us as a whole. See beyond any kind of parties and you know friction is not that at all. We’ve got to practice the atonement we’ve got to do it. Otherwise, we shall not be atoned people in the end atonement means reconciliation and we’ve got to practice reconciled it only occurs once in the New Testament and we got to practice it. otherwise crash will say I don’t know you.

  148. 1:13:33

I forgave you 10,000 talents. And you’ve been rattling your brother’s throat for a hundred Pence. Depart from me. And you still owe me ten thousand talents. This is awful. Isn’t it? Hey, so it’s clear when you just caricature it very slightly. You can see it and said Lord guilty. That’s then my dear brothers and sisters in conclusion. Learn these lessons that a man has to deny himself. And take up his cross daily to follow Christ. It’s the assertion of self.

  149. 1:14:19

That destroys our Christ likeness, isn’t it? I’m going to practice that. Paul said I am crucified with Christ. He’s put himself father as one of the two thieves. Or as actually in Christ when Christ is rendered immobile. Hey, that’s how he thinks of it.

  150. 1:14:48

And then he says Paul I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. So he’s now carried it to the extent that wherever he goes when they Stone him.

  151. 1:15:01

He goes back to preach there. When they deny him, he still says my brethren. Remember going back to Jerusalem. Where’s Vinnie been rejected. He’s going to take Christ there. Whatever happens. Nothing’s going to stop him for me to live is Christ. So in your family with your children in your Ecclesia, and whatever you are in the street in the supermarket watch it.

  152. 1:15:29

There’s an opportunity at every step to live and atoned life atoning for other people. It’s so easy. It brings peace of mind. You don’t have to assert anything at all. Just simply saying. Oh don’t mention it. That’s all right. And you discover that people. Then no. There’s a strange thing for you to say and then you can talk.

  153. 1:15:55

Is your neighbor Neo Neo your christadelphians? I mean by your atonement or if you told him you that your children can’t have any to do with his children.

  154. 1:16:07

That the children of two sets of Sinners wasn’t come into contact. Is that how you preach Christianity? Are you preach Christ? It can’t be can it can’t be you got to say to your neighbor. Just something that’s to going to bring them to Christ not push them further away. I said to someone I think was in conversation the other day the brother said, you know, he said somebody said to me he said what are you are you said I’m a Christian Delphine the man so don’t want to know I know one.

  155. 1:16:41

And there are plenty of those about on that won’t do will it. You know, the interesting thing is that people come into the truth by all kinds of ways. All right. I’m most of them are not by the indoctrination that all those doctors will be learned and believed because those must be lessened at all. I spoke to her brother was very intellectual, you know, he’d been in the Church of England.

  156. 1:17:14

And so I said to me one day I said tell me what was it that attracted you when you came to our meetings. Oh, he said it was the friendliness.

  157. 1:17:28

So what we’re teaching that’s it in first of all. It was a nature of us. We have people in our meeting room would at Watford and we’re just an ordinary teacher just like yours no better no worse and people come in and they say, oh, it’s like a family, isn’t it? I don’t mean a quarreling family.

  158. 1:17:49

I mean, it’s like a family that’s what they feel. You know, let me just tell you and it’s just I must end here just tell you about a brother who came into the truth by being Reconciled to God through all the teaching he came to all of that, but I’ll tell you how it arose.

  159. 1:18:09

Even working in one place will come time. And then the management said to him. We got to another job for you in the north of England. We’d like you to manage our unit up there. So they’ll go so he went up there and had a fine house. He got everything going for him and he became Restless as inside. And his wife first him which is why you Restless. He said dumb.

  160. 1:18:37

I’m missing the place that I was in before. But she said if that’s so and this was took some doing for a wife. You got everything there in this home. This is why don’t you speak to them? This is what I sometimes do speak to them on the phone. But why didn’t you mention something about your restlessness?

  161. 1:18:57

so next time you said if I wanted to come back and say whether it be a job for me. And they said yes Debbie a job. He said I’ll take it. So we gave up all the provisions that he had and went back to his old job a much less a job than the one he’d had before. when he got back he knew the reason of his restlessness though. He hadn’t divined what it was about. It was about a man that was there. And say this man was still there and he spoke to him. And one day that the man said to remote who died around our house on the gave him the date.

  162. 1:19:42

He said we’re having a few folks around we’d like to come. He said yes, I would. Say went to the house and it well, it was a kind of excuse really he was his wife’s birthday. I don’t mean the man was invited but the owner of the house. And so this man when he got there looked around and he then finally spoke to the man at the office who invited him. He said tell me he said are all these before your relations. He said no.

  163. 1:20:15

This is where all the women are going into the cabbage in bringing place and sources out note mean drawers and taking Knives Out is that I don’t understand this. He said and then a little bit later on. He said he popped up stairs. You see to the to the toilet. When he came down he said to his wife, he said where’s your handbag? He said, you know, I never let it go. It’s healed up.

  164. 1:20:40

He said I would look at all the other women. He knows all the other women. I’m nobody got their handbag with them. He said they’re all upstairs on the bed. And it was that now that was a sign of the atonement these people could trust each other. And he came into the truth is who wrote of this in other words this brother knew what he was doing.

  165. 1:21:06

But he knew he told him the truth and that heartedly and well and fully and soundly what appealed was something else the outworking of the atonement in the family was such that it made a family in the Lord Jesus Christ. So we are souls practice it my dear brothers and sisters. Thank you for the privilege of being together this evening.

  166. 1:21:28

Hope you found something of some help. I may God bless us that finally when Christ comes. We should have been cleansed by his blood understand faultless before the presence of his glory.
